We appreciated the detail to attention to our personal requirements including : bike type / both electronic and hard copy maps and information of our planned daily ventures / details of our upgraded hotels / the smooth transportation of our luggage each day / even the administration back up when we had a bike mechanical breakdown. Overall a very slick operation for which we would gladly recommend to others .
We did this trip as a family of 5 and had a wonderful time. Our children are aged 4, 8 and 12yo so we used a buggy and pull along. The organization was seamless. Mostly the terrain was flat and very picturesque. We were lucky to have perfect weather. The paper maps provided are fairly useful but the app is outstanding, so make sure you have sufficient phone battery. Bikes were good quality. No lost luggage. Apart from the castle, this village is very small (unlike Ambrose, blois). Perhaps a different route could be chosen. Overall, highly recommend.
Everything very well organize. Hotel reservations should be deliver sooner.
Excellent planning and organisation.
Loved this trip. A very beautiful part of France. We used standard bikes & coped OK but its " hilly" in parts and we would suggest E bikes for a more comfortable trip. Two of us are over 70. The app was not always accurate & we had a few wrong turns. Fortunately the app told us that.
We had a great time cycling for 6 days in the Loire valley. The bikes were excellent, and the app worked great.
Lovely trip well organised and great cycle paths and hidden back roads through glorious scenery. Nightingales singing along the way.
Blessed with good weather, we very much enjoyed our Loire Valley cycling tour. It wasn't until day 3 that we mastered the App. From then on we found it invaluable. The vast majority of the trip was on quiet roads or cycle paths - very few hills. Other than the cycling through some great scenery, highlights were the chateaux at Cheverny and Chenonceau, and the hotel at Chitenay.
I loved the cycle trip mostly on cycle paths through the most beautiful countryside full of birdsong. Time to visit the amazing chateaux strewn along the way it was magic!
The entire trip was easy enough on an ebike. A few gravel tracks were challenging but that was all part of it! I paid for accommodation upgrade and it was so worth it.. with the exception of the first and last night the places we stayed at were charming and comfortable. The first and last night's were at The Mercure, which was all of the above but it just didn't have the charm and history that resonated with the other hotels.
We had some great time. We paid for the hotel upgrades which suited us as the rooms had more space. Had the occasional issue with App but were always able to overcome it. Our electric bikes were great and well worth it.
Great cycle tour which meet our expectations. Well. Great routes each day through county side, villages and to many fairytale castles.
We found that most of the trails were off road and very scenic. We thought the tracking app was very good and we found the accommodation very clean and comfortable.
Our bicycle trip to the Loire Valley was fantastic! The weather was a perfect 70 degrees and no rain for the duration (early June). The routes were established cycle paths, so we felt very safe and rarely traveled alongside cars. The bikes were lovely, and no punctures were suffered. We went with the basic hotels and enjoyed some of the half-timbered and more rustic accommodations. The hotel food was fantastic at each establishment! Luggage was transferred and waiting for us each afternoon. The only small problem we encountered was with the mapping app. On the first day of cycling we realized that it often lagged and couldn't keep up with where we were, making travel slow and tedious as we waited at intersections to see if we should turn. That first night we transferred all of our routes to "Ride With GPS," an app we have used before. "Ride With GPS" had no trouble and even speaks aloud while riding, much like "Google Maps," so that you are warned of each turn ahead of time. Travel was smooth after that!
Great countryside and every effort to guide us well. Loved the 'real' France as shown in the villages, the troglodyke areas and the chateaux.
we loved the trip. I would advise future riders to take or buy their own lunch before starting out. There were very few cafés open.
Would have benefited from official maps of the Loire a Velo. The app did not work consistently and found the GPS mapping to suffer from delays. Had we had the hard copy maps, we would have saved ourselves getting off track on more than one occasion. The standard bikes were good, might go the sport model in future. Hotels were fine, some rooms too small to open two suitcases when two people were in the room (twin share). Given they knew our tour dates, they should have advised us of the public holiday when their recommended activities were not available.
Best way ever to visit chateaux and small country towns.
A fabulous holiday. The bikes were good, smooth organisation. The routes were beautiful rural paths and roads with little traffic, through vines, forest and crops. Hotels were very comfortable and the food at Chitenay was excellent! One chateau per day is a great way of seeing the Loire. Thanks!
