A great trip on trails with amazing views of Mont Blanc. Hotel very accommodating and friendly staff. Menu and food delicious. Pool and sauna for after walks. Perfect!
Highlights of Mt Blanc left me with fantastic memories. Leader Sophie coped with our large (15) group expertly. There were some tough, steep uphill and downhill stretches but I persisted and overcame a lack of fitness. Varied itinerary - heights, forests, but all scenic. Hotel was Ok, food good (not great) but a wine list inadequate in both price and quality.
This was an amazing holiday with Explore. The scenery was spectacular and the itinerary varied. Denis our tour leader was bouncing with enthusiasm and was always looking out for us. We were a fairly small group of 9, most in our 60s but fit, and we gelled well together. This was a holiday with a wow around every corner.
This was my first trip with Explore! and it was absolutely amazing! I was fortunate also with my fellow participants in our group as they were a wonderful group of people. The guide, Denis, was incredible. His knowledge about the area, the geography, and the flora and fauna was all encompassing. The only glitch I’d say was the lack of wifi in the hotel. The rooms themselves and the food was very good.
Our guide, Denis, was excellent. He had tremendous local knowledge, and made each of the group feel cared for as individuals. The walks were all manageable, but with great views
This was an amazing experience. The walks are well planned and cover a range of experiences, from mountain tops to alpine meadows and forest walks. There were some climbs but with the payoff of incredible views. The accommodation was very comfortable and the meals provided were great. The tour guide Denis was great - knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and funny. Can’t recommend this tour enough.
Excellent walking tour involving 5 interesting & diverse locations in the Chamonix valley. The tour leader was exceptional, the other group members were friendly and the accomodation was perfect for our needs. We appreciated the free day mid week. Overall, a terrific experience and highly recommended.
A variety of walks through forests, along the tops of ridges and down through valleys. Tour guide Denis was excellent - knowledgeable and supportive. The hotel was comfortable and the food very good.
Stunning scenery, well organised itinerary and excellent lunches!
Lovely views on the hikes with this trip. Alfonso, the hike leader, was excellent. I liked the way he gave options for the stronger hikers to extend the hike on a few days. Making our own packed lunches (included) from items he had purchased in the local supermarket was a much better option than the packed lunch in the hotel. The hotel is a basic 3*, no safe in the rooms (you can use one in the office at reception), no wi-fi and has there has not been for a number of weeks but they said it would be back on soon. The single room supplement is pricey especially as the room I was in, needed redecoration. The rooms were warm/hot at night even with the balcony door open. Most of us had rooms allocated that faced the road rather than the mountains at the rear of the hotel. Apparently the hotel allocates group bookings that way. The food though was better than expected at dinner. Plenty of choice and well cooked. Breakfast quite acceptable although the coffee comes out of a machine with powdered milk which is not good. Staff at the hotel helpful and polite although we did have to go and find them when the bar had nobody to serve us, but soon sorted out. Transport is good and getting around no issue at all. You need to walk 10 minutes into the Les Houches village from the hotel but a decent wine bar (The Wine Factory) and few decent restaurants can be found.
Great tour. Great group. Excellent tour leaders. Stunning scenery. Hotel food very good with vegetarians and vegans superbly catered for with packed lunch fare.
Trip had a very nice mix of terrain and hikes. Probably not exactly the hikes I would have taken on my own, which is great. I like the variety and would have likely stuck to the more traveled trails than what we took on our trip. Trip leaders were excellent. Took their time with explaining the hikes and surrounding area. The mix of hiking and taking lifts was also helpful for everyone in the group.
