Itinerary
A guided walk along the best sections of the Portuguese Way from Lisbon to Santiago. For many pilgrims, the Portuguese Way is more spiritually connected to the Camino than any other way. The Camino is all about the apostle St James, and Portugal, it is said, is where he was known to have first preached. It is also believed that his final journey to Santiago was via Portugal when his bones were brought back from Jerusalem following his beheading. The Portuguese Way, which is second only to the Camino Francés in popularity with modern day walkers and pilgrims, extends from the capital, Lisbon, across the border to Santiago, and this guided walk takes in the most popular, beautiful and intriguing sections between these two classic European cities. You'll visit the must-see Portuguese cities of Coimbra and Porto, enjoying guided walks and port tastings, and from Porto you'll experience the best of the Central Way, which passes inland through historic towns and countryside, and the Coastal Way, which traces the Atlantic shoreline before heading inland. Crossing into Spain by ferry, we'll continue along the Atlantic coast and another section of the Camino, and visit a manor house near Pontevedra before arriving in the famed cathedral city of Santiago de Compostela.

Silvia, the guide, was wonderful. Very supportive and helpful. Our group was great and we laughed a lot - mostly at ourselves! The walking is very easy and a nice way to connect to the countryside.
Fabulous tour guide ... appropriate level for me ... great group of people ... super fun
Excellent way to do the walk and see all the cities and enjoy the food and history. Our guide Silvia was excellent and helped everyone in the group.
Although the trip was very good, I expected more time on the Camino walk for solitude and reflection, given it is a spiritual pilgrimage. It was very busy.
The guide, Debra, was spectacular. She was very knowledgeable, very vigilant, and very humorous and friendly. I would go on another tour, wherever, if she were the guide. My only complaint is that there was a lack of choice and diversity when it came to dining. It seemed like we didn't have many choices of entrees for dishes when we were dining in the restaurants selected for this trip. The dishes were well prepared, but I would have chosen other selections had I been given the option.
