My daughter and I had a fantastic time on this very thorough tour of Spain. The itinerary was fast paced but we still had time to explore at our leisure in each city. The 3 days in beachy relaxing Costa Del Sol was a welcome break from the early morning starts and it was in the middle of the itinerary to that was nice. If you want to learn about the history, art, architecture and people of Spain this is the tour for you. Very educational and interesting. Our tour director Lydia was exceptional and our drivers were top notch. We also enjoyed the mix of group dinners and on our own meals. During the group meals we got to experience many foods that we probably wouldn't have tried on our own. I highly recommend this tour.
I really enjoyed myself the director was brilliant. I felt some of the hotels were not up to standard particularly in Teledo it was too far away from everything.
Too many cities compacted into 14 days. Very tiring to travel to a different city every day, sometimes 2,3 cities in one day.
The architecture and historical background of the country was amazing. You get a very in depth look at the history of the country and see many beautiful places. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and take excellent care of all travelers. However, there is a lot of time on the bus and not a lot of free time to explore the cities. Some of the hotels were not ideally located making it hard to enjoy the location to the fullest. The food in Spain was way more bland than I anticipated and the people of Spain were not very welcoming. In fact, of all the countries I have visited, the people in Spain have been the most rude.
Itinerary was very good. Always a balancing act regarding visiting all of the "mandatory tourist spots" versus staying in a town an extra day. Taking the trip in mid July was challenging due to the hot temperatures, for me, it has detracted from the overall memories. Nonetheless, Cordoba and Gilbralter were stunning. Our tour director was knowledgeable and skillfull in managing all the personalities (particularly the troublesome ones).
This was an outstanding tour, with one exception. Our bus was without wi-fi for several days. It disappointed me that although we were in several major cities, it took nearly a week to get the part that was needed to repair this. The tour director’s comment that “10 years ago none of these buses had wi-fi, it’s no big deal” was not helpful. For those working remotely and needing to be connected, it was a big deal. Ten years ago, there was no remote work, and if it is advertised that this is available, people make plans based on that information. I ended up using time at the hotel that I could have been out exploring my destination, because I finally had access to wi-fi. Again, it was a great trip but I just wanted to level set about the importance of something that might be viewed as minor to others.
It is a busy trip so if you can't keep up, I wouldn't recommend it. It was perfect for me.
The Best Of Spain itinerary takes you to all the highlights and must see places in Spain. The pace is fairly fast with not much free time in some locations. We went on all the optional experiences and they were great. Not taking them would mean missing out on a lot of local traditions and iconic structures. Make sure you budget this extra cost when planning your trip.
Good itinerary. Nice balance between tour guides and free time. Some of the optional excursions were NOT worth the money. Many of the hotels were run down (cracked tiles). I thought the food would be better; however, it was all average. Tour Director needs to be more organized. He needs to be more proactive when it comes to 1) ensuring that clients do not get lost (i.e. wait at a spot so that people know where to go vs. waiting for people at the bus), 2) ensure people arrive on time at the meeting spots (e.g. people were always asking what time to meet), 3) stop vaping around the bus/clients, and 4) stop repeating the same information over and over again. I've been on other Trafalgar tours within Europe, and this was an average trip from my POV.
This was an amazing itinerary! Lots of beautiful and interesting places, great information about them. Excellent organization and excellent comfort during the drive. Local specialists were amazing! The Travel Director was the best; very knowledgeable and professional and the drivers excellent.
Very comprehensive in a Country with so much history. It is difficult to see everything that you want to, but we believe your itinerary did a great job of covering the highlights. The extra excursions added depth to tour and provided interesting background information that added to the experience.
Good trip, some hotels were bit far from the Center of the cities.
This was very well throughout, planned, well done trip. Our tour guide, bus driver and our small group of 22 made it a very enjoyable, memorable time in Spain. Spain in the summer is HOT be aware that you walk lots, are up and ready to go by 8AM on the bus. You have maybe 3-4 days where you are not up early to be ready to board the bus. The Best of Spain is visiting many cities and fast pace. However, experiencing many cities and driving all over Spain is awesome and you really feel the culture. I recommend this trip, for those travelers looking to visit Spain, understand the culture and history.
Do not begin the first day of the trip at 8:00 am. Missed the entire tour due to airline delay. Insurance is not reimbursing and I will never travel with you again.
It was go, go, go every day, but there was a lot of ground to travel. The trip was well planned and well run by our travel Director. The bus drivers or also awesome.!
It is a great tour to see so many places. If you do all the optional experiences it is not much free time but you get all the historical information from the lovely local specialists. It was a heatwave when we went in June so I would advise the shoulder season. Our tour guide was a great mix of historical information and fun. It was a great experience for our first trip to Europe from Australia. We got extra cash out of the atm for our driver & tour guide gratuities because we didnt realise before we went.
The itinerary was excellent in how much it covered
The itinerary was well-structured and overall enjoyable. However, there were a few notable shortcomings. One concern was the repeated requests for tips from tour operators on behalf of local guides. Given the substantial cost of the tour, I found this practice inappropriate and felt it placed unnecessary pressure on participants. Additionally, while the information shared was comprehensive, it occasionally felt overwhelming. That said, I still appreciated the experience.
We really enjoyed the trip. It was very well organised and the Travel Director and bus driver were excellent. The itinerary was very good. However I do have two gripes. 1) The optional experiences were very expensive and some should have been included in itinerary. For example, all city walks should be included in the itinerary. 2) The suggested tipping is excessive. It was suggested that the Travel Director should receive 7 Euros per day from each person. The tour was 15 days and there were 45 people on the tour. This equates to 4,725 Euros. The suggested tipping should vary - dependent on group size.
This was a great trip!! It was a great overview of all regions of Spain. did an amazing job as tour coordinator. The entire trip she added to the sights by providing information and experiences which enhanced our understanding of the regions and made things fun! As always Trafalgar provided a high quality experience.
Well paced, but a lot of walking!! So buy good shoes. Beautiful country packed with history. Great price as well! Best tour leader I've had to date. His name is Atakan
Fast paced and experience packed two weeks through important Spanish towns featuring culture, history and food.
This was an excellent over view of Spain. It was a trip that you need to be in shape for hiking up steps, hills, rough pavement, cobblestones. It was a very exhausting trip. It definately is not for "older adults with ambulatory challenges". I felt that the 2 hour afternoon hikes were too long and lost interest after about an hour. It was hot and we were tired from the bus ride, morning hikes were better. Our bus drivers and tour guide were awesome. The resturants and most hotels were great. Most of the guides were ok, some were very hard to understand due to their accents. Would have appreciated some of the local guides to keep the group together, some just walked very fast and left part of the group trying to keep up. Not everyone walks same pace. They should be very truthful about the steep hills, rough turaine this need.s to be posted so when deciding this trip are aware if the difficulty and challenges. Would have enjoyed more free time to shop and explore some of the towns. Was a great trip, learned a lot about Spains history, culture and traditions
Optional experiences are way too expensive. Walking tours should be included in the trip not have to pay extra.
A great tour, which I highly recommend. Our tour leader was outstanding. Saw much of Spain, a truly wonderful experience. Learned a whole lot.
Trip of a lifetime to Spain! Thanks to #Trafalgar tours and ., our Tour Director, whose personal, creative touches, including an incredible keepsake, made this tour better than a 10/10…including a keychain outlining our journey pictured below! If you want to immerse yourself in a country’s culture, history and art, without any concern for logistics or language barriers, this is the way to go! Be prepared to get up early, have lavish all-you-can-eat breakfasts, befriend bus-mates from Canada, NZ, Australia and the UK…and experience things like a guided tour of the “Running-of-the-bulls” route in Pamplona and the macaque monkeys and cave under the rock of Gibraltar!
Very good overview of Spain! Excellent guide who took good care of us travelers and provided a wealth of information about Spain.
Absolutely amazing. Cannot say enough good about the travel Director as well as the drivers. Top notch performance and professionalism. They made this trip truely a remarkable experience with wonderful memories. Fast, busy, some challenging walking. You get to see and experience so much in a short time. This is an amazing tour, so much history, beautiful sites to see, wonderful people and interesting culture.
Had the most amazing experiences The tour director and bus driver were fantastic. Tour group also amazing and everyone connected and got on well. Made many new friends Itinerary was well thought out and included all the major sites and attractions
There was complete detailed description of the itinerary.
Overall, the trip was great, but the schedule seemed rushed at times by having several events packed in a day rather than having fewer focused events and allowing more time to enjoy area locations.
Take in all the extra excursions
Spain is a great place. Would recommend it to everyone.
It was full of enjoyment and learning experiences.
it had excellent optional tours and dinners
Most comprehensive and well planned itinerary of major cities in Spain.
A little too fast paced at times . Hardy able to stop and purchase at postcard at times!
It’s very long with great local guides. Lots of walking. was excellent.
