day 1Tour starts in Murcia. Optional short ride

Our tour begins in Murcia, a lively university town that's rich in culture. Situated in a fertile plain surrounded by mountains, Murcia boasts sites such as the Murcia Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, and the Church of San Nicolás de Bari. Our tour leader will meet you in the hotel reception at 8pm for a welcome meeting, followed by the opportunity to join your fellow travellers for dinner. There are no other planned activities today, so you're free to arrive in Murcia at any time. If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive at Región de Murcia International Airport (RMU), located about 30 minutes away. Alternatively, if you're flying into Alicante Airport (ALC), there is a regular bus service to Murcia Bus Station operated by Alsa, departing every two hours, and taking one hour to reach the city (https://www.alicante-airport.net/bus.php). If you'd prefer a private transfer from Alicante Airport (ALC), please contact our sales team. Please note, this needs to be booked at least 20 days in advance. If you miss the welcome meeting, the tour leader will catch you up on any essential information once you arrive. For those arriving earlier in the day, there's an optional self-guided ride to the Fuensanta Sanctuary. The hotel can provide instructions to help you get to the bike rental shop where you'll meet your tour leader. You'll be fitted for a bike for the week ahead and given route notes for the ride. If you decide not to ride today, you'll be fitted with your bike tomorrow morning and have time to make any adjustments. Please note, this optional ride incurs an additional charge, which you can pay directly at the bike rental office. We recommend starting by 3pm (latest) from November to February, or 4pm in other months. In the evening, you'll have the chance to meet your fellow travellers at the briefing and enjoy your first group dinner together. Total cycling distance today is approximately 18 kilometres/11.19 miles (Total 100 metres/328 feet ascent and descent) (optional).

Fantastic week of cycling in a beautiful part of Spain. Exactly as described, we covered about 28 miles a day with about 40 on the final day, cycling through fields of wild poppies and flowers, traditional villages, almond trees, olive groves, hills (some pretty big) and some stunning views. Some climbs were steep and tough, and some cycling was on gravel tracks which some people found challenging. If you're not a regular cyclist, or mid-level fitness, an e-bike may be the best option - you can still cycle most of the way and use the extra power when you need it. Our guide, Miguel Angel, was perfect - patient, gentle, generous with his time. He looked after us exceptionally well and went the extra mile on numerous occasions, without fuss. He genuinely wanted to make sure we all had the best time possible - and we did. His knowledge of the area and route was comprehensive (he's a Murcia local), as was his knowledge of bikes - we had one puncture which he fixed in a flash, and we were on our way again. He really made a difference to the success of the trip. The accommodation was good but basic in some places - no problem though. The food and drinks in the evenings were all excellent, especially the last night when Miguel took us to an authentic, busy local restaurant in Murcia where he ordered an array of wonderful dishes for us all - definitely a highlight. A wonderful experience in a beautiful part of Spain.

This was an amazing cycle tour!! The tour was a good balance of awesome scenery, history and seeing hidden gems off the beaten track. The routes were well planned with breaks; some challenging moments but we loved it all. This holiday ticked off all the boxes; a guided tour, bike was included with the option to put on our own pedals/shoes (clip in), breakfast included everyday, great hotel stays including staying at a monastery, luggage transfers and an all round great cycling tour. Our guide, Miguel was exceptional; knowledgeable, passionate about the region. He took such excellent care of us. He did it all, helped with translating for our meals menu and purchases, making sure everything was running smoothly for all our stops, hotels, and tourist sights. The picnic lunches (picked up food at a supermarket) were a nice perk. We felt safe and supported throughout the entire week. Suggest you bring Euros cash for the cafe stops- it just makes it easier. We had SO much fun with our cycle group!!

Cycling in Southern Spain taking a sequence of round trips was an amazing experience, I experienced a week of seamless day rides led by our very competent leader Miguel, who went above and beyond in his duty of care for the group. He shared his knowledge in each venue visited, interpreted each individuals menu choice, and was considerate towards the very friendly group. The hotels were of a good quality, routes were well thought through, luggage transfered, and hotels transfers all excellent. Whether you choice to travel with someone or as an individual please don't hesitate to book. I would definitely recommend this trip.
