We saw so much - landscape from flat to snow mountains, Atlantic to Mediterranean, history from aquaducts to Gaudi, experienced best ever Portuguese egg tart, port wine, and dinner at an olive farm.
We stayed at great hotels and ate and ate!
Our group, driver and director made the trip even better.

The itinerary is packed with tours and travel but does include some free time. The tours and locations are fun and interesting. Our tour from May 25 to June 6 was much hotter than expected.

It was very good but involved more walking than we had counted on. For seniors this difficult at times.

This was our second trip with Trafalgar. One year ago we went to New Zealand with Trafalgar for 20 days and it was excellent. Our tour provided full days of seeing both the north and south Island of New Zealand and there was little need to book side excursions although we did do a few. With this tour to Spain and Portugal, Trafalgar booked our pre-night stay and charged $749. I checked with the desk at the hotel where our pre-night stay was and the rate for the room we had on the day of the week we had was $198! When we got home, I asked our travel agent if this was a mistake but in checking with Trafalgar that was the rate we had to pay. $550 over the normal room rate is a huge rip off. Also on this Spain in Portugal tour, for the people on our tour that did not book a daily side excursion each day we're often taken back to the hotel after a short morning excursion and had to find something to do on their own for the balance of the day. The side excursions cost roughly $1800 extra for my wife and I. Some of the couples on our tour were older and on fixed incomes and could not pay the added fees for side excursions. Their experience on this tour was distinctly different than those of us that were able to come up with the added money for the side excursions. I'm not sure why this Spain in Portugal tour was so different than our New Zealand tour which required very few site. Excursions to have full and wonderful days of touring. My heart did go out to those people who were not able to see Spain and Portugal, like most of the rest of us. After our first experience with Trafalgar in New Zealand, I was all for booking a second trip with them. After our Spain and Portugal experience I am less inclined to book with Trafalgar again. During the Spain and Portugal tour, our bus driver and our tour guide were outstanding so my dissatisfaction with the trip had nothing to do with them as they were excellent at what they do. My problem is with Trafalgar in their business practices, and I would like to hear back from a representative to explain this in more detail. Thank you.
