Best of Portugal

It was a wonderful experience. We saw and learned so much about Portugal and out tour director couldn’t have been better. He really gave our group energy. Our one wish would have been to have more free time especially in Porto and maybe a night in Nazare. Overall it was great.

My first trip to Europe & glad I took a guided tour Trafalgar

Delightful and professional tour guide along with our bus driver was an amazing driver. City tour guides were exceptional And well-informed on their topic. Loved the small villages and would return on another tour if offered as Portugal's Charming Small Villages. The first night's dinner was disappointing which made me suspect of other add-on dinners. The food served to our table was more like a wee snack instead of a meal. Seems as if the first meal should have been filled with a 'Wow-Yumola factor.' We might have purchased other dinners that were offered; however we did not.

I don’t have to worry about anything! Trafalgar had it all figured out for me, from our hotel stay and to the excursions. Well done! My only comment is about some local guides that stay too long in one area- give too much details that are not important.

It was well thought out and executed. Most enjoyable. The tour guide and driver were excellent.

Excellent tour with expert guides and great food and wine make this an extraordinary adventure.

The excursions and planned trips were awesome. I was annoyed at the excursion sales pitches given by the tour guide. We felt very pressured to have to purchase optional excursions and made to feel guilty when we did not. I was also annoyed with the tour guide’s begging for a tip. We tipped in advance and others on the trip knew of the recommended tips for the tour guide. His begging was a bit much

Trip is planned perfectly. The optional excursions are fantastic. The local guides are excellent and extremely knowledgeable,informative.

It was absolutely fantastic

Tour Director and Bus Driver were awesome. They made everything memorable and enjoyable, even when things didn't go right with our hotels. I think it's way too busy and would have liked two days stay rather than packing up after only one night. There are places I would not stay at like Fatima as it was definitely worth going to and experiencing, there is nothing to do or see outside the hotel to experience where as Nazare would have been a better option. We found all the guides extremely friendly and knowledgeable but went into far too much detail that we lost interest whilst walking around. That is our only real criticism. Less is best. Our favourite part was definitely the wonderfully fresh Portuguese custard tarts we received from Nuno and the horse stud experience with the local family. Oh and Monserrate Sintra was very worth it.❤️ Whilst we loved the tour, we felt exhausted after it as you don't stop. We needed a weeks rest to get over it. But Portugal is beautiful!

Good itinerary and pace for travelling across Portugal. Food experience from the region was good. The group size was too large (almost 50 people) to go into sites. The local experts were excellent. Should carry/offer bottled water on the bus as some sites couldn’t access water readily without cost. As this was our first tour group experience with a company, we don’t have an another tour company to compare it to. Overall great experience for us.

It efficiently hit the highlights of the country of Portugal. It showed us that the Portuguese are proud of being Portuguese, come from a long and varied history and have much to offer the world. There are such beautiful areas of olive trees, eucalyptus, and cork trees and vineyards and wind farms. We purchased this tour because we wanted to get a sample of the entire country from north to south and this Trafalgar tour delivered.

was the best travel director we had among the four trafalgar group we had joined. He was very professional in his treatment of his clientele. His instructions to the group covered the valuable reasons of the why & how of such instructions. He is upfront to the information he is sharing. He is formally but pleasantly on the level on what he is imparting to you, he does not sugar coat anything he says. He was always on the look out for the safety of the group as staying behind the group whenever we are lead by the local specialist in the front. He is considerate of the group's comfort as time is given to rest after a tiring local visit that he does not give us unnecessary talks after such events. We also loved our driver who not only drove with excellent skills but was pleasant & courteous as well.

Best of Portugal was a great tour. The tour director, *personal info removed by Feefo, was very knowlegeable. *personal info removed by Feefo, our driver, was amazing. How he managed to drive the coach down some of the narrow streets was incredible. The tour specialists in each are were so knowledgeable and the history was amazing. This was the first bus tour i have been on and it exceeded my expectations. I will travel with Trafalgar again.

I did enjoy my trip, however there were too many people on the tour for my liking. I also would have enjoyed more off the beaten path things to see or do. Bike rides, something more adventurous. Also museums. Way too many Churches and religious sites. That many weren’t mentioned in the brochure. I wasn’t very impressed with the meals I paid extra for. I discovered I’m not a tour person and prefer to plan my own travels so I can do the things I want on my time schedule. Our tour guide was great as was the bus driver. Did learn some interesting facts.

Great itinerary but very little personal “down time” to explore, shop or chill out on your own..

Excellent Guide and great bus driver. Explored some out of the tourist places as well as the scheduled ones. A good cross section of Portugal. The sites, wineries and restaurants were very good. A couple of places maybe we could have left a little later and reduced some time at some of the stopovers. All in all and enjoyable experience and well worth doing. Thank you to all involved and the good company.

We have been home for 2 weeks and are still recalling with joy all the beautiful sites we enjoyed on this trip! , our guide, was thorough, so well natured and personable as he guided us through his beautiful native land. He was always attentive and positive in his interactions with every passenger. His friendly and charming rapport with our driver, Fernando was always entertaining and we always felt like we were in good hands. The towns, cities, sites and dining experiences were well chosen to give us “The Best of Portugal!”

Compared to other tour operators, Trafalgar stood out by providing quality hotels, delicious food, and well-organized visits to historical sites.

It was a fabulous trip exploring Portugal. was the best tour director. We saw incredible sights and monuments, tasted beautiful food, visited quaint villages and cities and learnt alot about Portugese history and the culture.It was all very easy for the traveler… hotels, cases, food etc all taken care of. We were given enough free time to explore on our own terms. I highly recommend this tour.

Trafalgar's "Best of Portugal" tour ranks as one of my favorite! I fell in love with the country, the people, history and wine, thanks to the numerous outstanding experiences offered, including the many UNESCO heritage sites. Our tour director and local specialists were excellent, passionate! Our driver was top-notch, highly skilled and very polite. It felt like each day was uniquely special full of amazing surprises, what a gift!

The liquor and jam tasting were not worth it. That extra excursion really discouraged me. I also did not like that there was so little time to walk some of the places and eat. You either ate or explored. I had to eat because I was on medication, so I never had time to explore. I think that if you will stop at a place to have lunch, there should also be another hour for exploring.

Great service for a great price !!!! It was a real pleasure to travel the whole Portugal in 10 days ! The tour director is professional, funny, respectful and above all, a good-hearted human being.

Not enough on the Romans and the Moors

The best thing about this tour was the people on it. Nothing to do with Trafalgar itself. We got a huge shock to get an email two days out to tell us that most of the tour we had to pay Euro 541.00 per person. It was a case of uber back to the hotel or sit on the bus if we didn’t do the tours. To opt out wasn’t really an option. You could really only opt out of some of the dinners but that meant missing out on the interaction with other guests. The food was overpriced and for the most part awful. On two occasions actually inedible. One night we got Frozen crumbed cutlets as a main course option. Frozen chicken drumsticks was the other choice. I’d already been in Portugal 2 weeks prior to starting the tour so knew the meals were horrendously overpriced for what they were. The cheapest meal being 62.00 per person. I would never recommend Trafalgar to anyone.

Portugal is a unique country with beautiful and amazing differences between the regions. The history, architecture and scenery are extraordinary. Our gracious and helpful guide, made our journey extra enjoyable.

An amazing trip! Well orchestrated, great food, beautiful scenery and history. The tour deeply immersed us in the culture and exposed us to all of the regional differences.

Great trip and the best tour guide and bus driver.

We saw the entire country- the best of the best. Hotels were all amazing. Tour guide and driver were amazing. Totally and throughly enjoyed this tour. A lot of walking on cobbles stones and some uphill so better shape you are in the more enjoyable. Met some wonderful people as well.

The amount of extreme walking

The tour guide was fabulous and top notch always going above and beyond, super knowledgeable and fun to be with. The hotels were not great, either lacking in amenities or malfunctioning air conditioning. The dinners that were included were bland and not very interesting. One of us was vegetarian and it was sorely lacking.

Take the trip!!! Simply amazing!!!

Very intensive but enjoyable visited many sites that you would not have seen on your own.

Great tour!!

If you love history then Portugal has it in spades. If you love beautiful scenery Portugal (for a small country) has all the beauty you will ever find in this world. Small towns, even smaller towns, and big cities with the most amazing lakes, mountains, vineyards, farms, beaches and most important the loveliest people you would ever meet. This itinerary took me from top to bottom of Portugal, on a smooth riding coach, with an incredible safe driver, who knows all the high and low turns in every road like the back of his hand. I felt so comfortable with the patient host and many guides, provided, who you just knew had planned perfectly with their guests in mind. There is no doubt they love their country and had the all the knowledge needed, and then some to impart to their guests going along for the greatest ride.

Well planned & coordinated itinerary. Loved our tour coordinator & driver. They added a lot of fun to an already great trip.

I had a vacation of a lifetime with friends and met many more wonderful people. Our tour guide and coach driver were the best!! My only suggestion is that if we would have had more time at the hotel and to explore on our own, we would not have been in such a tight schedule.

The itinerary was very good however I didn’t feel we got enough free time to explore on our own. Our guide was very friendly, nice and knowledgeable of Portugal. You could tell he loved his adopted country. Our hotels were very nice, however, we had some issues with air conditioning or the lack of it.

Amazing overview and taste of all that Portugal has to offer. We had an amazing tour group, driver and Tour Director!

My family and I had a wonderful time. I believe that group trips like this one are all about the guides and the people on the tour. You can't control the people you are with (95% of our group was great, 5% whined and were a little annoying but not the end of the world). Our guide () and but driver () were extraordinary. They were kind, gracious, informative, and great representatives for Trafalgar. They did all they could to make the trip exceptional and they succeeded! As for the locations visited and sites seen. Very solid. I am a bad person to ask because if you've seen one painting/church/site, you've seen them all. That said, the story that goes along with the painting/church/site is what makes it "interesting." and guest guides did a very fine job with providing the "rest of the story." I can't promise that you'll get and but I am very pleased with the itinerary and locations visited. Trafalgar made moving between locations easy. I would recommend...

Great trip with excellent itineraries and local guides. Not one glitch in the trip. Worry free travels!

The itinerary was very good. Lots was offered during the 11 days. Tour director, coach driver and local specialists were very good. In most cases, the accommodations and food was very good with the exception of Fátima where the hotel was good and the food was adequate.

The country is beautiful and the tour guide was excellent and I will tell everybody about this trip.

Well organized trip

An excellent deep dive of Portugal. It’s challenging to switch hotels so often but worth it to see all the best Portugal has to offer. Our tour director, has a great personality and provided excellent history and fun facts and we had so much fun with him. We had 6 gluten-free guests on our bus, me being one of them, and he really went above and beyond to ensure we had equally delicious food and treats as the other guests. The Fado night was one of my favorite experiences! Some of the hotels in the smaller towns were not up to the usual Trafalgar standards. A couple of the hotels had a sewer-like smell in the hallway and one room had a mildew smell. Still, the itinerary is wonderful and we had a great time.
