This was an lovely wander from Vineyard to château to hilly forest and medieval village and small town. A combination of relaxation, good walks and moderate challenge. The accommodation was comfortable and welcoming.
Route was beautiful, stunning scenery and interesting stops along the way. Hotels were all very good and the app worked brilliantly so we never get lost. Already planning next year's trip!
A wonderful experience which exceeded our expectations. The hike was varied through pretty vineyard trails, peaceful woodland paths and picturesque medieval villages. The local people were friendly and welcoming, accommodation was comfortable and the continental breakfasts were substantial for the day ahead. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to explore a beautiful region of France that is yet to suffer from over-tourism.
We really enjoyed are trip. Beautiful villages, lovely forest trails which was welcome relief as it was very hot on a couple of the days during our trek in early June 2025. Trip was rated as moderate which was correct, it was challenging at times with steep up hill climbs on rocky paths. A good level of fitness is required as indicated by them. We definitely earned and enjoyed the beautiful food and wine on offer in the Alsace. All our hotels were very clean and comfortable with a substantial continental breakfast on offer every morning.
My Alsace trip with UTracks was the highlight of my year!
Up and down mountains!
Alsace Vineyard trails has it all. Fairytale villages, vineyards, castles and beautiful mountain trails. The ascent and descent were just steep enough to feel like a healthy work out but not too steep to trigger my knee ITB issues!
Lovely hotels, nice food, friendly staff!
It was a lovely walk through forests, villages and vineyards at harvest time (third week of September). Mild weather too. The track notes were great, with GPS backup for the one or two occasions when we’d wandered off the track in a minor way. The accommodation was fine, though if you are an early riser, and quick walkers, as apparently we are, there were 2 hotels when checkin was absolutely verboten till 3.00pm at the first one, and the hotel was even locked till 4.00pm in the other. Strong German influence with the food and language, which was interesting after walks in other parts of France. We were a bit anxious about the last walking day, described as ‘probably the ‘most difficult day’. (And appreciated the warning.) Yes, it was over 22 km, and involved a lot of ‘up’, but it was a ‘zig-zag’ up, which was quite user-friendly. And at the top is the old castle/monastery where you can have a recuperative repast before heading down. Having done many self-guided walks over the years, this one would have to be at or near the top of the tree. If you are even in your 7th decade (as are we) and have a history of keeping relatively fit and walking a few hours a week in hilly landscapes, you should enjoy this delightful walk.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our trip from the attention and responsiveness of the staff during planning, to the excellent accommodations, the trip notes, and the route itself. Given that the area had a large and complex trail network, the GPX app was essential. And it was by far the best app that we have used while hiking. The information contained in it was essential for helping us plan our day and importantly to stay on trail. This was our first experience with them and it was first class all the way.
Great walking holidays! Very good accommodation, and an excellent guiding app! A nice mix of walking in the forest areas and between vineyards. Highly recommended!
