We had a small group and everything went well interesting places.
A Taste of the Camino is a fabulous tour in picturesque northern Portugal and Spain. It has amazing history to delve into and ancient legends in abundance. The journey across the mountains, the Picos de Europa, was stunning. It felt as though we were on top of the world.
Lovely well design holiday showing the marvellous foods, scenery & towns along the Camino
We saw beautiful places and stayed in wonderful hotels. Our guide, Guillermo, was very knowledgeable. He took especially good care of us. He even took us to get tapas and educate us on how to order. He checked every day to make sure our rooms were satisfactory. We walked on different parts of Camino. We rode to top of mountain in cable car. We dined in a cave. It was just an outstanding trip.
We really enjoyed getting off the main tourist areas to see a bit of the “real” Spain and Portugal. Learning about the history of this region and of the Camino was an added plus. We also appreciated the small group nature of the trip, something which drew us to this tour in the first place. Our guide, Guillermo, was extremely enthusiastic and his love of history and the area is apparent (also the fact that he has actually walked the Camino several times himself 👏👏).
Great tour, small group, great guide, excellent locations visited and restaurants very good standard
It was a great tour, a lovely group to travel with. Ana our guide made it special in all ways.
Although you don't do the Camino you get an excellent feel of the experience. The history and the accommodation were excellent.
A fabulous tour through towns and villages, stuning scenery and experiencing local life and fascinating history of the early and modern pilgrims. Excellent accommodation and local food.
A very interesting tour. The tour could have more enjoyable with a better guide. She was too obsessed with her own Camino experiences
Felt that the walking tour in Santiago de Compostella took too long. The accommodation was exceptional. Not too much time to explore.
Having done a previous tour with Blue-Roads Touring, I was disappointed with the lower standards on this tour. Our tour leader Deirdre was less organised & less knowledgeable than our previous tour leader; much of her commentary was about her experiences when walking the Camino. Few of the hotels were of as high a standard, the bus was good rather than excellent (eg I had difficulty at times connecting to the bus wifi). The food at the included meals (including breakfast) was pleasant; on our Discover Portugal tour it was exceptional.
Enjoyed the small group we had ,fantastic to see all the old buildings , roman walls ,churches , and learn some of the history of the pilgrims journey .also liked the wine tour very interesting .Amased at the Cueva grotto where we had lunch .The cable car was a great trip even had some sleet ,view amazing views . Tour leader more suited to a younger group , not paying attention to her charges at times , talking non stop ,made me want to switch off .her personal info we didn't need .Provided lunch and dinner on the same day not good .In all great time had . Thank you . Wendy & Nancy
Overall a very interesting and enjoyable trip. Our guide Eddi was fantastic, and the group of travellers was a good fit (all 60 / 70s Australians and a few Kiwis). Some of the hotels left a bit to be desired, though others were very good indeed.
Exploring parts of the Camino, travelling through the beautiful countryside of north western Spain and tasting some delicious local fare were standouts for us on this tour. We had a brilliant guide, Eddie and driver, Francisco. We loved exploring some of the historical sites such as the Roman walls in Lego, the medieval castle, and the 12th century church outside of Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela itself was a great experience - such a vibrant city. And snow , yes snow in the Cantabrian mountains, didn’t expect that. The cable car ride in the Picos de Europa National Park was very special. Great tour with a great range of sights and experiences . Very well organised.
