Aquila Private Game Reserve

“The trip overall was great! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals, and even the drive through the mountains just getting to the reserve was breathtaking. The game reserve itself was beautiful. Please do note that it's a private reserve, not a national park like Kruger. We were aware of this beforehand, but many reviews complain about this not being truly "wild" animals. Our travel itinerary didn't allow for the time to fly over to Kruger for a more extensive safari, so Aquila was the next best thing (and relatively close to Cape Town). The animals have generally all been rescued from the wild, and they have substantial area to roam, so the tour still felt more safari-like, not a zoo at all. Before the game drive, a buffet breakfast was served, and lunch was also provided after the drive as well. The lodge also had rooms for overnight guests, though we only did a day trip. The game drive lasted for about 3 hours, during which time we saw hippos, rhinos, elephants, springbok, giraffes, lions, hartebeest, and a wildebeest. It really was an incredible experience, and the photos and memories will be with us for a long time!”

“Awesome what more can I say! I have just completed the 14 day South Africa Escape and can not believe how much I did in that time. From the first night dinner meeting Kelly our tour leader, the other travelers and eating South African cuisine to the amazing entertainment at the restaurant. Then the next day we were off.Connie the coach driver what an amazing guy. I knew then I was in good hands. Around Cape Town we went starting at Signal Hill and driving through the city.The next few days we were driving up the coast seeing amazing coastal landmarks and scenery,viewing penguins, tasting wine and brandy,stopping at quaint little towns and doing some awesome adventures.Then in a flash we were in George saying our goodbyes to Connie and catching a flight to Johannesburg.Simon was there at the airport to meet us and off we went bound for 3 days in Kruger National Park.There I was not disappointed as I saw all the South African animals I had ever imagined right before my eyes.The first day in Kruger I took the optional to Swaziland instead of the game drive and wow I saw another African country.Then it was the drive back to Johannesburg and a tearful goodbye to my other travellers,Kelly and Simon.This tour I will remember for the rest of my life.”

“We just returned from the 14 day South African Tour which began April 11, 2019. All I can say is WOW! The best vacation I have ever been on, hands down. The food was amazing, the scenery was out of this world, the accommodations were wonderful, and the animals, well I can let that speak for itself. The stops were amazing, the optional tours were amazing, and Matt, our tour leader,was, hands down, the best. This tour was so good we are looking right away to do another with ExPat! Would highly recommend to anyone!”
