Treasures of Spain and Portugal

We had a wonderful trip to Spain and Portugal with Trafalgar! We saw so many amazing places in two weeks! We were happy we opted for all the Optional Experiences. We were able to see and learn so much more about each location from the tour guides. They were very knowledgeable and spoke passionately about their tours, along with adding their own humor to the stories. Our tour director, Javier, was excellent! He was like our father away from home. He cared for us, watched over us and guided us from beginning to end. He was a fun-loving man who made us laugh all the time! I cannot say enough good things about Javier. He made our trip extra memorable! João was an amazing driver! He kept us safe on the roads, he was timely with pick up and drop offs. Worked so hard to unload our luggages behind the scenes. His driving and parking skills were superb! They made a great team! This is our second tour with Trafalgar and we love this company! We're already booked for our next adventure with Trafalgar!

The Tour Director kept the entire group on the straight and narrow with little fuss - it was almost a military operation! He was also good at suggesting viable alternatives for me as I was suffering from mobility issues. Kudos to !

The tour of Spain and Portugal was fabulous with good hotels and food and lots of inclusions . Our travel co ordinator and driver were really good with friendly and professional care and great knowledge of the areas we visited. Other local guides were impressive too and the optional experiences were really enjoyable and worth doing. We had enough free time to do a bit of shopping too. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip! This is my 2nd tour with Trafalgar and I was not disappointed. Lovely places , different cultures and cuisines and a friendly and inclusive group made for a most memorable experience.

This was an amazing trip. Our guide Javier was absolutely the BEST and made our trip so fun. We had a great group of people on our tour and the places we saw were unbelievable.

Overall we are happy with the tour, may be 1 day extra in Portugal would have been better. Would have loved to have included Gibraltar in this tour, understand it is covered in another Trafalgar tour. Our tour director ************* and driver Joao were exceptionally good. Javier kept us entertained and engaged. Joao is a very good driver

It was a little fast paced if you chose to do all of the optional tours. We saw so many beautiful structures and interesting places.

A wonderful look at history. The cathedrals we amazing, the wine tour, the scenery was fantastic. The hotels were first rate and the meals, what can I say, they were more than excellent.

A lot of walking and too many old churches.

Looking back on the experience, I can't believe how much we did. We saw so many places and learned so much history and current events from our guide and the local specialists. It was an experience we would not have gotten on our own. Our tour guide was amazing and I would without a doubt take another one of his tours.

The itinerary though jampacked stillgave us plenty free time to do our own exploring of the iconic old quarters of amazing Spanish cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville as well as the beautiful Portuguese cities of Porto and Lisbon.

The tour director Alberto was wonderful attentive and thorough. Trafalgar look after everything :)

The itinerary was full of great places and experiences. Stacy, our TD and Jose, our driver, are the best team! They were very accommodating.. The dinner experiences were very good also.. some of the hotels were not the best but we understand they were the best choice according to location. We have been traveling with Trafalgar several times and always had a great experience. Cudos for Stacy and Jose.

Way too rushed as not enough time was spent in places. Only managed to see one landmark with local guide, use bathroom facilities, grab a quick lunch & off again. Wish we could have stayed at least 2 days in each place to get the feel for it. Also there were too many optional extras one had to pay for. Didn’t appreciate the fact that in Valencia, a guided tour had to be paid for. And the rest we only saw on the bus. In Barcelona, the only thing we managed to see was Gaudis church on the outside. And an optional extras. We are fit & well, had no trouble walking and would love to explore more, but we chose the wrong tour, where it covered way too much area for a very short time. I wish our agent would have advised us by informing us that it will be very much travelling on the bus & not seeing much. If it wasn’t for , our tour director, who was absolutely brilliant, knowledgeable, extremely helpful, very pleasant in every way, the tour would have been a complete failure. Our driver too was brilliant. We felt very safe with his driving. We did another tour after this one, not with Trafalgar, stayed in places 2&3 nights & got the feel for the place, were not rushed & no extra activities at our cost. If we do another tour with Trafalgar, we will study it well before we sign up.

Well organised Great variety of optional activities

Jake's product knowledge was excellent and the itinerary was very extensive. It was one of the only tours that covered all the most important parts of Spain & Portugal. one would wish to see and experience.

Itinerary was jam packed, tiring but so worth it. We were given so much information and it was given in a way you understood along with humour and good will. Our tour guide was the loveliest person. The company is very lucky to have her. She managed to bring approximately 41 strangers from different countries to a group of 41 friends. Not an easy task but one she did with ease. Her kindness and sincerity comes through naturally.

Very informative , extremely well planned and executed by our Tour Director . We learned a lot regarding the History of Spain and Portugal. Atakan was very generous with sharing his vast knowledge of all the places we visited. The culture and great scenery we saw was amazing. Our very capable bus driver was very energetic and efficient and extremely friendly. These two individuals made a nice trip feel like a great trip. They are true professionals.

My recent trip to S/P was overall very enjoyable, with a excellent itinerary and a wealth of history brought to life by our travel director . Unfortunately, I did fall ill during the tour, but he handled the situation with professionalism and genuine compassion, ensuring I received medications and felt cared for throughout. His deep knowledge, warm personality, and clear passion for his job truly elevated the experience!!!!!! I was also fortunate to meet some wonderful friends on this journey. As a solo traveler, their warmth and companionship made me feel included and turned the journey into something even more special. I would like to recognize our bus driver . His skill, professionalism, and calm presence made travel between cities smooth and safe. Knowing we were in such capable hands gave me peace of mind and allowed me to simply relax and enjoy the journey. and complemented each other perfectly and should be partnered on every Spain/ Portugal tours. While I enjoyed the itinerary and the historical insights, I was disappointed with the dining arrangements. The set menus at each dinner venue felt restrictive and did not allow us to truly experience the unique food and wines of each city. Exploring local cuisine is an essential part of immersing oneself in the culture, and I believe this aspect should be reconsidered.

Our tour guide was great. However, we were disappointed that a lot of the sites that we would "see" were not seen by going inside but only from the bus or walking outside. For example: the Olympic sites and the Bull rings.

The guide and driver, were excellent, caring and knowledgeable. This was our first bus tour and I definitely will not do another one - no fault of those above, I just did not like the amount of time spent on the bus in transit and the packing / unpacking almost every day. The daily tours and local guides in general were good and I certainly enjoyed seeing and learning about the historical structures etc.

A great trip. Very tiring as you are on the go everyday. Most if the Hotels were great except for the one in Granada. Definitely not an option. The driver and Tour Director were great and the TD was informative. Service in Spain was at times not great. At time certain waiters are rude and dismissive. Overall a great tour and a trip worth repeating with Trafalgar. Thank You, From the Moodley Family

Great trip if you want to get a glimpse of Both Spain and Portugal in 2 weeks.

Was a FANTASTIC trip, got to see a lot of places and meet some really great people. There were a lot of churches that we saw and each one was fantastic, but it got to the point where they all started to look the same. There were other things that I think would have been great to see, instead of all the churches, i.e. inside a bull ring, the "City of Arts and Sciences", to just name two. Also, the trip was classified as "balanced" but it was a VERY fast pace. If you do all of the optional excursions/dinners, you really didn't have much down time at all. You were rushed when you got to the hotel to freshen up for dinner/evening excursion (which were all great), got back at night and then had to have luggage outside your room for 7 am, and back on the bus for around 8 or 8:30. I had expected a little more of a "relaxed" pace, but now that I know this is what it is, I can be better prepared for the next tour that I do. I still highly recommend Trafalgar Tours and this trip in particular, you just need to know more of what to expect.

We certainly saw a bit of a lot of the two countries. The itinerary is action packed and a mid two week afternoon off might hav helped some.

Everything was amazing and was the best.

It was very enjoyable and learned so much about the. Cities we went to. Planning and timing was perfect and enjoyed the tour guides that we had, Accommodations were really good. We didn’t miss any of the itinerary.

Great trip. Tour director and driver took great care of us. Loved the sites we visited, tasting the cuisine and wines of Spain and Portugal. The optional tours and local specialist added a lot to the places we visited. Would highly recommend this tour.

As a first time tour traveller I found it very busy. In saying that it was very enjoyable, Kylee our guide Rocha bus driver were wonderful. The other travellers were fun. One criticism would be that some of the included meals were ordinary. The places we visited were amazing and lived up to expectations

The experience was enhanced by the great skills of the tour leader. Some experiences should have included an extended visit eg the interior of Sagrada Família and the Black Madonna at Monserrat. A good balance of time on the coach. Excellent that porterage and drinks with dinner were included. Good balance of planned activities and free time.

This was a great itinerary, taking us to the large and small cities as well. One hotel, Carris Porto, was somewhat uncomfortable due to its size.

The itinerary was packed but really wonderful. I would request tickets are checked beforehand to places such as the Allambra palace.

The tour director and bus drivers were excellent. Although the tour pace was hectic and a lot of sites were visited in a short period of time we felt that it was a very good oversight of the Treasures of Spain and Portugal and what we had hoped to see on this trip.

I was disappointed in this tour. Several key sites were omitted (the markets and Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and El Prado in Madrid. In addition the food served at dinner excursions was mediocre at best. There were also too many trips to churches. There needs to be more joy in this itinerary.

Our Trafalgar tour guide, *personal info removed by Feefo*, was truly outstanding. He speaks excellent English, is extremely knowledgeable, and has a pleasant and engaging personality. Throughout the trip, he provided clear, informative explanations about the region and kept us well informed on the daily itinerary, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciate the idea of rotating the chairs — it’s a fair way to ensure everyone enjoys different views during the journey. The provided radios worked well, but I noticed other groups using systems with small earpiece headsets rather than the larger units. Those might be more comfortable and convenient for future tours. Overall, an excellent guide who elevated the entire experience — professional, approachable, and clearly passionate about her work.

This trip was amazing. was informative and well organized keeping her Trafalgar family entertained and providing every opportunity to see the treasures. Learnt, saw and experienced so much in our busy schedule. HIghly recommend.

Not enough time give at the Shrine of Fatima - only 1 hr given and disappointed that we were not told that we were not visiting the inside of the Gaudi's Cathedral in Barcelona. Too many unnecessary Optionals - which cost a lot of Euro's on top of the tour costs

This trip is packed with sights and experiences! Sometimes it is a bit busy and you’d fair better taking a pass on an optional walking tour with your large group. Pass on the seafood feast. Schedule in 1-2 downtimes or book your optionals as you go… not all at once. Most optionals are worth it though! Ask for more time at Fatima if you want to shop or attend mass. Research your stops to know whats most important to you. Time goes by too fast! Don’t miss the barcelona optional trip with ! He is excellent! Hope you get and … they are wonderful!

Very well organised.

Very expensive tour - all the items we wanted to see and do were on Optional Extras. We were very disappointed that some of the Optional walking tours did not include entry to Barcelona's Gaudi's Sagrada Familia - neither were we warned in the brochure that this was the case. Fatima Shrine in Portugal was so short - only 1 hour was allowed - not enough time to get items purchased to get blessed. Apart from the extra payments for Optional items - why did we have to pay again the local guides - ?? Because we decided to take all the Optional tours included - we found that we were extremely tired and exhausted and did not have much free time - we would have appreciated at least a half a day break in the middle of the tour - say after about 7 days - although too much time was given to us for just lunch and spare time - which we would appreciated a late start at least one morning.

Agnes was the consummate professional. She did so much for us. She should be commended. Honestly. This trip was a lifetime milestone for us and she made it all the more special for us all.

Our Tour Guide "Cat" and Driver Lois were both excellent. Due to a walking problem, Cat was very helpful and often stayed with me to help me walk to some of the destinations. She was wonderful in giving us the history as we went not only to the destinates but also when we were driving . We learning a lot of history which we did not know about. I thank her a million times and enjoyed her company.

Very fast paced. Food was OK, not great. Every hotel had marvelous pastry. One hotel looked shabby, and was not up to standard. The tour guide (Ms from Australia) was fabulous. The bus and driver were very nice. Little neck pillows for the bus would have been nice.

Excellent service and tours. We really enjoyed the guide tour, she was very polite, responsive and made us have a wonderful experience.

Covers a lot in 2 weeks. I would rate hotels as very good. Tour guide was great, best I've ever had on any tour.

The itinerary is perfect. I only wish there was more time “included” (vs optional) to explore more of Madrid. I’ve always wanted to go to Madrid so being a first time visitor I thought there would be more sightseeing than the walk to the optional dinner & the drive thru the city after. We enjoyed all that we did in Madrid but I wish there was more.

Great itinerary! Saw so many places and learned so much about Spain and Portugal. The schedule is jammed packed and somewhat exhausting but it's the only way to experience the countries.

Great stops and a wonderful tour director. Good hotels and wine with all meals. Fun trip!

Just enough balance between bus trips and stopping to view sites. Quite a few extra payments to enjoy the full experience especially evening events and meals.

The included itinerary provided a wide variety of cultural experiences in both Spain and Portugal. We wanted a trip that included both Madrid and Barcelona, as well as cities in Portugal. This trip was one of the few to offer that. The optional experiences added to that. We chose most of the optional experiences and may not have had as much "free/down time" as we would have liked. Next time... We loved the smaller towns such as Toledo, Segovia, Zamora, Peniscola, Sintra, and Cascais. The architecture and scenery were gorgeous. The entire trip was all we expected and more. Our travel director, was amazing. She had a lot of energy and knowledge of places were were visiting. One thing that stood out to me was that she was so accommodating for some of the older people on the trip with the heat and uphill walking. She arranged taxis for them (as the bus could not get to all locations) rather than walking to provide inclusivity.

Very organized and doable.

Our tour director ************, and Bus Driver Joseph were excellent. The bus was excellent and comfortable. The seat rotation policy and seating allocation plan was put up every day. The instructions from your director was clear. Local expert guides were overall good with one exception, that is Barcelona. Most of the hotels we stayed in were good except two hotels. All in all it was a good, well organised, and enjoyable. Would recommend it for others. I took all the optional dinners, which I felt was a mistake. The optional dinner in Lisbon was not good. We were packed into uncomfortable seats and crowded atmosphere. The best optional dinner we had was in Porto. The included dinners in the tour were overall good, except in Granada. The hotel in Granada was not good.

Long drives with relatively uninteresting scenery, but adequate comfort stops, some of which were added attractions to the itinerary in some locations.
