Athens: Ascend the Acropolis with a Local Expert to admire the Parthenon, built in 5th century B.C. Steps away you'll see the Temple of Athena Nike, also known as the Temple of the Wingless Victory, and the six stone-carved caryatids that make up the Porch of the Maidens on the Erechtheion.
Athens: See the Arch of Hadrian, erected in honour of the Roman Emperor and used as a divider between the ancient city and the new Roman district, along with the remaining columns of the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Kalambaka: Your Travel Director will provide an orientation of this town situated at the base of the extraordinary Meteora rocks.
Thermopylae: See the Leonidas Monument, dedicated to the brave warrior and his 300 Spartans.
Meteora: With a Local Expert, visit one of the remarkable centuries-old monasteries of Meteora, teetering on towers of rock and arguably the most spectacular place to visit in Greece.
Greece’s legendary islands and ancient wonders shine on the 'Treasures of Greece & The Islands' food tour, a 14-day journey starting and ending in Athens. Visit the Acropolis and Parthenon, explore Mycenae’s ruins and artisan pottery, and unwind on Santorini’s clifftops for some of the world’s most enchanting sunsets. Lose yourself in Mykonos’ labyrinthine walkways and sunbathe on dazzling beaches. Unique artisan encounters and leisurely island stays distinguish this tour package, ideal for those eager to experience Greece’s blend of history, cuisine, and unforgettable scenery.
The land part of the trip was ok. Our tour director was horrible and did not care about her paying customers! The time was spent in the islands was such a scam! We stayed in hotels that were in the town, no where near a beach! We ended up taking public buses for transportation in the Greek Isles!!! No optional excursions were available to us for the island part of the trip, because we had fewer than eight people! Please DO NOT Take this trip! We had a miserable time on this trip! I cant believe Insight thinks its acceptable for their travelers to travel on public buses !! We will NEVER travel with this company again!
Excellent.
Very well organized and fun. It was a great trip and experience.
Traveling to islands by ferry is the best way to go. To do this by air would be to lose the atmosphere of the trip. Consider getting window seats so we can see more.
Good itinerary. But an old couple should not have been on this tour. Could not keep up & was slowing all of us down!!!
Beautiful country, fabulous history with top notch local experts, and an amazing travel director made the journey amazing. However, lots of uneven stairs and climbing to reach the sites. Doable, but be prepared.
I like the island hopping tours. Santorini & Mykonos - lovely
We booked 90 % of the available optional tours. 3 were canceled due to few participants. One was canceled by us because the show was very late in the evening [9:00 PM}. Very disappointed in not being able to go to these places. Also, Insight Vacs. should provide printed or digital information regarding sites or places to visit during "time on our own" tour days. You should understand that for this pricy tour travelers want to have all possible options while we are on our own time.
Great trip. Only omission I can think of was the Marathon battlefield. Otherwise we hit many spectacular sites
Many beautiful sites and towns. Pace was medium. Making new friends is what makes the trip fun!
I’ve taken other trips with insight and I will have to say our tour director was the best tour director I ever had! I loved her. She was so informative and had so many stories to tell us of Greece. If anyone has the opportunity to do a tour with do it! She is fantastic
Good balance
Insight gives you great tour directors, great dining locations, nice hotels, handles all luggage from each destination. While on a ferry, your travel director will guide you through the crowds waiting to enter from Island to Island, while situating your luggage below for safe keeping. All of the sites we visited were fantastic. Also, the drivers of the coaches are well trained and dependable. You can’t go wrong with Insights vacations. We just finished our fourth trip with them.
The Treasures of Greece and the Islands is a wonderful itinerary. Seeing the beautiful countryside of mainland Greece with its archaeological sites is amazing and at a good pace. It was also a great way to interact with fellow travellers. Seeing the islands were just amazing. The islands allowed us to not only do the optional tours but also time to do our own thing and go to beautiful restaurants on our own and swim in the pools at the wonderful hotels. It was at a slower island pace which was just perfect. A good mix of pace and different activities to do from seeing the Acropolis in Athens to the first Olympic site in Olympia or seeing the site of worshipping the Greek Gods in Delphi to sailing around Santorini on a boat or going to a beach club in Mykonos. This tour has it all! A once in a lifetime trip! Just do it!
Comfortable pace, all the sights I expected to see and ones I was blown away at seeing. Our travel director, was amazing! She was thoughtful, knowledgeable and took care of us really well. Early May was the perfect time to visit Greece, comfortable temperature and crowds were manageable.
