Toledo: Explore this magnificent ancient city with your Local Specialist and visit the Church of Santo Tomé to see an El Greco masterpiece.
good itinerary and TD and driver. Only one complain: TD kept reminding the clients to give him and the driver a good feedback and to tip them and the local specialists. I hate when they ask to tip. If they do a good job I'd naturally tip. Annoying if they ask for a tip.
Yes but the travel guide and driver made this the most memorable trip
The tour director, bus driver, and the local specialists were very good and helped to maximize the Spanish experience.
good selection of places to see
There are an obscene amount of tour buses in Spain; including and especially Trafalgar. There is no way to enjoy the sites when herded like cattle in, through, and out of the stops/sites. It is impossible to appreciate Spain with too many people converging on one spot at the same time. If you take your eyes off your “herd”, you lose sight of them and find it almost impossible to see them amongst so many other people. Cannot hear through the Vox radios due to so many other tour groups converging. Cannot see out of the bus windows due to reflection 90% of the time. This is no way to travel and Trafalgar is as much to blame as the other tour bus groups. There were multiple Trafalgar buses converging on each other as well as other bus company’s. No wonder the citizens of Spain are so irritated and angry. I would be too! Tour bus companies, like Trafalgar, need to reduce the number of tour buses/groups significantly. One of the hotels we stayed at (Silken in Seville) was subpar at best. We had to haul our luggage on and off the bus and up and down to our room. The rooms were dark, dirty, depressing. We paid full price for this! Other hotels were bad as well, but Silken was the worst. We should get a refund for the two nights stay at Silken (at the very least). Prisoners have better accommodations. My husband and I just wanted to enjoy a special trip in our golden years. What a waste of our hard earned/saved money. Don’t go, don’t go, don’t go. I don’t blame our tour guide or our bus driver who did their best…..I blame Trafalgar. Shame on Trafalgar!!!
My family and I enjoyed the trip. We saw a lot for 8 days and the group were all very friendly. Our TD Guy was very helpful as well. He made the trip more fun and enjoyable.
Excellent Great Tour guide
Itinerary was fantastic with a really good travel director and driver.
Some of the trip was a bit rushed. There was no time supplied for shopping is some places that was better than where we stopped. A couple of the hotels (Barcelona) was not great. Not everyone is able to climb into a bathtub and the service was not up to scratch. You should supply showers that you can walk into as not everyone is able to pole vault into a high bathtub. The food and restaurants provided were very good. our guild was excellent! Love it.
The itinerary was busy and very informative. We visited many main cities with several stops in between. This allowed us to learn as much as possible about Spain and decide which areas to return and explore further.
It would have been nice if we had some free time to explore the surrounding area "see the area like the natives". I realized we were told we had free time when it was lunch time but then it was very limited. I'm talking about free time after lunch for the rest of the day. Also, I noticed some people physically could not walk up a steep path that was of stone and I am not sure if the description of this tour stated the physical needs of a person on the tour. We signed up for this tour base upon where we were going. In all fairness was extremely organized. I spoke to the front desk at our last hotel in Barcelona and asked if he has many Trafalgar groups at that hotel, he replied, " every weekend" but is the most organized. I have organized groups and projects for a living and there was no way of knowing everything about all of the people in his group. So, if we decide to we may go to Spain with you all again, if there is something like "come to Spain and see it like a native?" We didn't realize that Trafalgar was a British company. We made reservation 6 weeks prior to traveling, so we were surprised that everyone spoke English, we thought we could practice our Spanish, which we did. So, we made the best of it and had meals with people from other countries, which was great experience.
Sometimes we felt rushed, especially when we had an included dinner, however we did see many beautiful things. We took many of the optional trips, that was our choice. In the future we may just do the included trips so we have more free time. Our travel director was excellent, as well as our bus driver . I would recommend Spanish wonders to anyone interested in seeing a large part of Spain. It is a beautiful country full of history and wonderful people.
This was my first trip with Trafalger. It was generally a good experience - the people on the trip were very friendly which made it nice. Accommodations were very good except for one evening - the dinner and breakfast were both terrible. I was very disappointed with the number of times the tour guide did a commercial for Trafalger. I am not on this trip to be pressured to go on another - I have traveled with other tour groups and none of them do this kind of ongoing advertising throughout the trip - a real turnoff. I felt a couple of the sites we visited were very rushed. Seems there could be better planning to make it more enjoyable. I also thought the tour guide did a lot of talking and shared infomation that was unnecessary. The tour guide could have given better attention to a couple of issues with folks on the tour as well.
We enjoyed everything. We would take the Best of … option next time for we would have a few extra days.
Both itinerary and organization of the trip were excellent with an excellent tour manager
Everything was planned wonderfully! our tour guide was very organized, very attentive to everyone. He wS very knowledgeable and made our tour fully enjoyable!! Had fin, learn about the country and seen most beautiful places. I am planning go have my 4th trip with Trafalgar soon.
Great trip for folks that like go, go, go vacations and are couples. For solo travelers, DON'T Go! For folks that don't want to get up at 6:00 am every morning, put their luggage out most mornings by 7:00 am, and don't stop until 10:00 pm (and then there is the bar afterwards for those so inclined) - this is NOT for you. It's Exhausting, there is very little free time, and the tour guide has to deal with 45 people, so if you're solo, you are not going to get his attention for questions. The walking can be slippery, hilly and difficult for some folks - and slower individuals must keep up with the group. I'm in good shape and was happy to help others walk but be aware that there are hours of walking and the group will keep moving. The hotels in Madrid and Seville were great, the others not so much. All hotels have challenges with temperature - you either freeze or burn up. And it's not Trafalgar's fault that people can be clicky and rude, so it's best to travel with friends or a partner. In sum, if you're seeking a trip that allows for some leisure time to have a casual drink at a cafe or go shopping, this is NOT the trip for you. But if love the go, go, go mentality - getting up early, never stopping and falling into bed late - you'll love this trip.
Excellent, detailed and perfectly on time itinerary each day. A few too many churches, cathedrals and castles, but nice to see them but could spend a bit less time in each one. A bit more free time would also be appreciated but some of that is because we chose to go on all the optional excursions. Meals were OK but nothing really special. Hotels ranged from excellent to fair. Driver was amazing. Other guests were great and a lot of fun was had. This is a jam packed tour if you choose the optional excursions.
Nice
It was very well plan! We got to see a lot of Spain. If we would have try to plan it ourselves, we wouldn’t seen half of what we saw! It was amazing!
I was very disappointed with some of the hotels. The hotel in Granada was awful, dirty, old, the food made me sick, the carpet in the hallways had several patches and the patches needed a patch., not at Trafalgar Standards hotel. The one in Valecia gave me and several others I the group a handicap room, why? Everything in the bathroom got wet including the toilet paper when we arrived abd I took a shower meaning I had to deal with a wet bathroom for may stay. The last hotel in Barcelona had a strong odor not sure what it was but I needed to keep the window open to be abke yo breath. Also, some of our stops thst were in the schedule were changed like the stop in Guadix was changed for stop a Purulkena, why? The highlight of Barcelona is LA Sagrada Familia, its not included in the tour. My mistake that wasn't aware but why not include the best to do on Barcelona? Montserrat was nice but I had rather to visit La Sagrada Familia a thousand times over Montserrat. And if you are not talking us, why won't let us know to get tickets way in advance? They are sold out two, three weeks in advance. Not as happy with this trip as I was with Itlian Holiday last year
This itinerary was excellent. Took my granddaughter who started taking classes at the Chicago Art Institute right after our trip. She loved the beautiful architecture of Spain and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.she loved being immersed in the history. She spent her 18th birthday in Madrid at an awesome venue with beautiful Spanish Music that would equal the quality of a New York opera. We had a large group from many different places and it was a wonderful atmosphere. Our guide *personal info removed by Feefo* was amazing… I would give him a 10 star rating easily. He made sure all went perfectly. *personal info removed by Feefo* Evergreen, Colorado
It was well organized. The food was fabulous. We will travel with Trafalgar again.
I did get sick and left my phone in a taxi . had it found and delivered back to me in an hour . Amazing , caring person .All Excursions were so wonderful and organised
Visiting Spain had been on my bucket list for a long time. This trip was a fabulous way to see Southern Spain. The food was wonderful, the Tour Director was very knowledgeable and such a delightful man. Our driver fitted into some tight corners and was always cheerful. We meet some lovely people from all over the world. We will definitely tour with Trafalgar again
Enjoyed every minute, covered all I wanted to see. The tour matched my time table.
This trip far exceeded my expectations in terms of how well organized it was. Our tour director and driver were thorough professionals, they handled every situation with calm and ease. All dietary needs of the group were addressed and catered to. The coaches were comfortable, the front and rear exits made embarkation easy and efficient for our group of 52. Seats were assigned on a daily basis. Luggage was handled with care. On the first day in Madrid, our hotel was changed to one outside the city due to unavoidable reasons. Trafalgar reimbursed passengers for taxi fare from the city to the new location. They also threw in a sight seeing excursion and dinner ad compensation. All the hotels were decent, included meals were good, except for the one with the flamenco dance- just opt for the dance without the dinner. I loved that all the food had local flavor. The itinerary was great, with full days that started very early, but this meant we could see everything before the crowds got there so there were no line-ups anywhere. We learned a lot about the history and culture of Spain and got to meet many interesting people on this tour. The optional excursions such as Montserrat in Barcelona and the walking tour in Valencia were also great. There is a lot of walking though. This was our first Trafalgar tour and I would choose Trafalgar again without hesitation.
