Walking to the fabled church of Santiago de Compostela
Take the road less traveled on the Portuguese Coastal Camino, a 12-day self-guided trekking tour from Viana do Castelo to Santiago de Compostela. This moderate route is a favorite among experienced travelers and seniors seeking a quieter, more scenic pilgrimage experience.
Journey north along the Atlantic coast, through eucalyptus and pine forests, over ancient bridges, and into quaint hamlets. Cross into Galicia for the final 100 kilometers to Santiago’s cathedral—earning the coveted Compostela certificate. What sets this trip apart is its peaceful paths and deep historical resonance, making it an enriching and contemplative adventure for modern-day pilgrims.
The tramp was amazing - loved all of it!
10 absolutely fabulous days walking!
Thank you! This is the second holiday I have booked through you. Everything was perfect down to the booking process, information required and tools to get us through our walk was great.
We really loved our Coastal Camino walk. It was beautiful to walk through lots of historic towns and visit many beautiful beaches on the first few stops. The hotels were all good and the one in Lestrove and sensational. The only day which we found tough was walking into Vigo on a very hot day as it seemed like many streets of industrial/suburban walking the last 5 km. Overall a wonderful experience and wish we had done 14 days instead of 12!
Tje itinerary was excellent, very happy with accomodation choices. Detailed information given regarding trip notes.
We spent 12 days doing the walk. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so well organised. The accommodation and food varied throughout the trip. We are in really enjoyed the variation and the surprises of some of our destination points. I would highly recommend it using them.
Really enjoyed the walk. Hotels were all great, no issues with either rooms or beds. I guess the only thing I really missed was being able to make a cup of tea at the end of the day, however most hotels were very obliging and made us one to take up to our room.
They planned our trip meticulously. They were easy to get in touch with and quickly clarified any doubts we may have had. The selection of hotels and guest houses was great, and the maps and other information they provided really helpful and very easy to use.
Thanks! When we started communicating I was not sure about how the trip would go as there was minimal communication between us. I am very happy with everything you have done from choice of hotels to transfer of our bags. Thank you for all your efforts.
Normally, I would research and plan my own itinerary but due to the multiple trips, I decided to leave to others. Not having to worry about our luggage was a nice benefit.
Decent hotels and luggage transfers. Dinners could have been much better for the prices.
Great hike. Good comfortable hotels & good food. Bag transfers were excellent.
We begin our 10 day Camino at Vienna Castelo, A delightful town without tourists and on reflection, a highlight of the trip. We walked along the Atlantic coast for the next few days with very few others and it was terrific. We chanced upon a terrific lunch in Oia overlooking the port. The walk into Vigo included walking through an industrial zone which was very ugly and we were increasingly disappointed how much of the walk was through grim urban areas on the outskirts of towns. A lot more bitumen than anticipated.
We walked from Viana do Castilo to Santiago. The walk was easy, but hard for the toe balls. I recommend shoes with good cushioning. All hotels were great. Transport of luggage was great. We had a fantastic experience. Highly recommend this trip.
A fabulous Camino experience for our first one, loved both countries and felt well supported from start to finish.
