Highlights of Spain and Portugal

This trip is very well planned and highly organized. All sites chosen for visits are all well worth visiting. The Guide, paying extra attention to fine details our tour, was highly knowledgeable and extremely organized. She conveyed a vast trove of information in an easy to absorb and entertaining way. Tour's driver, a nicely dressed, confident and careful driver, created an atmosphere of safety and comfort all through the trip. I enjoyed this tour very much. I believe this was a result of a combination of good planning, precise execution and commitment by staff (our guide and the driver) to produce a successful tour. It should be mentioned that other members of the tour also made a huge contribution to my enjoyment of the tour.

This trip was a very efficient experience that allowed us to visit so many places that would’ve been very difficult to do on our own. Good mix of different cultural experiences. We had a great time! We especially loved the cave ***** flamenco show. We enjoyed traveling to Fatima, port wine visit and the be my guest visit to a horse ranch. So many places it’s difficult to rate them. We enjoyed everything!

Every place we traveled was excellent! Timing was good with downtime and the next place. We had wonderful guides and our bus driver and director were great! Love Trafalgar! It was our fourth trip with Trafalgar.

今回は４回目のバスツアーで、今までの中で特に一番楽しかったです。 勿論今までのツアーに不満があった訳ではありません。 今までとの違いは史跡や宮殿など昔からあるものを訪れるだけでなく今現在も生活をされているところにお邪魔して普段では経験ができないような体験をさせてもらったことです。 例えば洞窟で生活されているところへ訪ねたり、個人の歴史ある牧場での昼食、今までにはなかった新鮮な感覚でした。 もう一つ感じたのはトイレ休憩をこまめにとってもらい年寄りには大変ありがたい配慮でした。 Mike、本当にありがとう。またいつか偶然にも会うことが出来れば幸いです。

Great trip. Tour director did a great job.

This was a very busy itinerary with a fair amount of walking. We were unfortunate to encounter a heat wave which made the walking a challenge at times. There was a wide variability in the quality of the hotels and of the buffet breakfasts offered. The tour director was excellent- very knowledgeable, with a fun sense of humour, and she related well with each of the guests.

We found the trip very fast paced, probably because we wanted to take in all the excursions & experiences. Some of the dinner experiences were extremely rushed & so loud that we couldn't visit across the table. The food at some of the recommended restaurants was below par. On the positive side, the hotels were more than adequate, our driver Paulo is extremely skilled & we felt safe at all times in the comfortable coach. Our tour director Carlos is a very experienced & knowledgeable guide. He was very diligent in keeping us all together. We enjoyed our time with him. This being our 2nd Trafalgar tour, we will highly recommend you to our friends.

It was a very full itinerary! Lots of sights to see and explore.

The trip was good and there was plenty of things to do but I felt that they should include the excursions into the price of the trip so you knew how much the total cost would be from the beginning. I would have preferred staying a little longer in Portugal and staying a shorter time in Spain. I will pick a shorter trip next time. 13 days runs a little bit long.

Highlights of Spain and Portugal was an informative, interesting trip full of beauty and rich in tastes and experiences.

Locations were all amazing, Most hotels were very good. One fair. Meals at all times, especially in the evening were excellent. Our driver Pedro was very skilled and we felt safe our 4000km on highways and city streets. Tiago was our tour director and he made sure we got all the information we needed, whenever we needed it. Highly recommended tour, take advantage of opportunities to explore.

Too much walking and History. I was disappointed in the Flamingo dancing. It wasn't a full performance. More like a high school performance. I loved the horse farm in Portugal and meal there and I thoroughly enjoyed the winery that offered the Sherry and its history. The dinners at night supplied lots of wine and bread but the food was not as good as what we purchased when we purchased our own on the sidewalk cafes.

Exceptional, well organized, excellent accommodations.

The itinerary covered many of the sights to see in the time we had. The accommodation was good, the coach was excellent and our tour guide was outstanding, as was our coach driver

Some of the accommodations and included meals were substandard. Others were good. Tour director was very good.

Ok not kidding it was long. Lots of time on the bus. But fellow travelers were so awesome and our bus driver and tour guide made it fun. Plenty of rest stops. Even showed movie on one long leg. Such great time at group dinners. Food. Wine and fun. Saw flamenco and fada performances. The biggest and best surprise were the opera singing waiters and waitresses at one venue. So much fun. Hotels were nice. Especially liked the Spanish style place we stayed. And the tour specialists at each site we saw. They were awesome! Added so much to the understanding of the beauty we were seeing. Beautiful cathedrals, mosques and local sites. Such beauty and history. Loves every minute

Cities in Spain were beautiful & interesting though my least favorite was Valencia and I would’ve been happy to have left that out and spent more time in Granada. My favorite experience is always the Be My Guest and this one was exceptional.

Great sites and wonderful history. So fortunate to have seen all of the included excursions. I love learning about the Spanish culture as well as the Portuguese. The dinners with the optional excursions were mediocre at best very bland and similar to each other. Would’ve done better eating on our own, but wanted to see the performers. Our guide was very sweet and thorough.

Many interesting and historic UNESCO sites included in this rigorously-paced itinerary. was an Excellent Tour Director. Well-organized, congenial, knowledgeable and entertaining about the history . He also showed consideration for me as an 81 year old woman with arthritis, suggesting ways to make the daily excursions more comfortable and convenient for me. Great trip! Has my highest recommendation.

We visited as many cities/sites as possible in the time allotted. We were treated very well and had a lot of fun.

Great informative itinerary hitting the highlights. We would’ve appreciated better restaurant recommendations from our guide on our free time. **The flamenco dinner show was fantastic however 1)the food was beyond awful 2) we were seated behind those guests ushered into the room who had not purchased dinner. As a result our view was obstructed, the performers feet could not be seen. Overall not a good value for this optional experience :(

Yes. was a great tour guide. The sights we saw were awesome. I wou liked for some of the optional experiences to have been included in the tour package. I had not anticipated spending that much more. However, they were all great choices!

It's a very busy schedule especially if you take all the additional activities and optional extras, but we'll worth it as you get to see so much more.

A great experience which had a good balance of activities ranging from adequate free time to well guided and informed experiences. I would highly recommend the optional experiences which, although incur additional costs, provide entertainment that wouldn't necessarily be available as an independent tourist. Be prepared for these additional expenses as it's a shame to outlay the cost of any tour and then not fully participate in the options. You may never return or have the opportunity again! Although there were a couple of heavy driving days, these also provided the opportunity for some R & R. A really well informed and educated tour director and very skilled driver! Definitely provided experiences and options I wouldn't have accessed independently.

Fantastic trip as our Tour Director/Guide as Tour Driver were both exceptional & excellent! Their knowledge of the area’s history & culture went above & beyond my expectations! And their upbeat personalities & quick humor were the icing on the cake!

It was a great trip through Spain and Portugal. We visited several cities throughout southern Spain. We loved the castles that we saw throughout Spain, especially the castle of Segovia. We also loved Portugal, especially Lisbon and the surrounding area, even though we only spent a couple of days in Portugal we would now love to go back to Portugal to spend more time there.

We were a big happy friendly family with out the help of and the driver and the other guests for helping me get my scooter out of the bus and up and down small amount of stairs would not been able to go on a well organised trip .so thank you to and his team look forward to doing another trip with Trafalgar in the future

Many varied experiences, scenery, and personal choice opportunities. All the hotels were above average and all with air conditioning!!

Great travel option. Priority entry to many sites. Many excursions are included, but you can add more if you choose.

You will see a lot of beautiful cathedrals, wonder, a scenery, beautiful, castles, And visit extraordinary historical sites. Lots of free time to explore on your own. Lots of new foods to taste for the adventure.

Having never been to Spain or Portugal before, this trip was a great introduction. (TD) & (Driver) were a great team. The optional experiences were fantastic - the Zambra dancing & the visit to the Lusitano horse stud were highlights for me

Since my husband and I travel with Trafalgar so many times, we get special deals. We enjoy traveling with Trafalgar since we can relax and enjoy the sights and views knowing that everything else are well taken cared of by experienced tour director and driver!

Trafalgar will nickel and dime you. On the website it lists 2 optional excursions for this trip. The assumption is that the rest of your time is programmed based on your payment. That is a lie. They actually build the trip with a lot of free time then offer you 12 optional excursions, which if you don’t pick, means a lot of time to be your own tour guide on your own in foreign cities. This does not let you build an apples to apples comparison when choosing among different tour companies. Besides that they highly pressure you to tip the travel director and bus driver, including passing by a credit card machine and envelopes. They also expect you to tip local tour guides. All-in expect to pay at least 33% alone in these hidden/underfunded “optional” costs. Lastly, the bus *****. The WiFi almost never has internet access and when it does is weak and slow. Have you ever heard of starlink? Also, the buses have weak air conditioning and malfunctioning USB charging ports. Expect to be sweating on the bus in hot weather. I REGRET choosing Trafalgar.

The whole tour was so well organised. It was a pleasure to travel with Trafalgar. The "off the beaten track" specials like BMG were a lovely surprise, we enjoy a bit of divergence from the high tourist hotspots. was an excellent tour director with exceptional knowledge that she shared so enthusiastically, it made the whole trip so interesting. , too, was a driver that committed himself fully to our group and was really engaged with the whole camaraderie and spirit that developed in our tour group.

In just 13 days we discovered two beautiful countries and made friends from all over the world. The food, culture, history and stories could not be discovered on your own like we were able to do with Trafalgar.

Excellent pace! Our guide and driver worked as a team to ensure we experienced the most and best in Highlights of Spain and Portugal! The care and concern for each of us was absolutely amazing! The hotels and food for the most part were excellent! One specific stop was the Cave Houses! What an experience at Cave House! Also the Alcatraz castles were an added plus! Loved visiting Salamanca, Spain! The over all rating for this trip I give it a 10+! Itnerary was great. Visiting the most beautiful and historic sights. Wonderful cultural guides from the areas we visited. Great entertainment and food. Hotels were very nice and our coach driver and our wonderful took care of absolutely every need and request. It was an absolutely amazing trip because of out knowledgeable Trafalgar guides.

Good, fast paced tour, as the name Highlights would suggest. We 'tasted' many places and there are many that we intend to return to someday for closer exploration.

Enjoyable, well organized, professionally managed at the highest quality in tourism industry. Knowledgable and respectful Tour Director and Bus Driver . Local guides were all well versed in English. Tour stops and highlights were well addressed everything (history, topography, archeology, religious, etc). Evening program selection met everyone expectations. Lodging were excellent with access to the public transportation and restaurants. We will definitely recommend, Trafelgar, a ISO 9001 Certified tour company to everyone.

Highlights of Spain and Portugal

It has a lot more walking than I was expecting. Especially since it was the summer and very very hot! ( heat wave hit Spain with many days over 100. And humid). I loved the historical sites but wish we had more time to explore the cathedrals and or museums We flew in a day earlier in order to get to the Prado. Well worth it!
