Barcelona’s architectural wonders and Lisbon’s Age of Discoveries are just the beginning on the Great Iberian Cities tour. In 9 days, traverse Spain and Portugal, from Toledo’s medieval streets to Seville’s flamenco rhythms and the historic treasures of Lisbon. This guided city sightseeing tour is tailored for experienced travelers who appreciate art, history, and vibrant local culture. Accommodation, transport, meals, and insightful guides ensure a smooth journey. The USP? Its carefully curated route, blending world-famous landmarks with authentic Iberian experiences—like sipping sangria in Andalusia—that bring the region’s history and hospitality to life.
We had a great time . Itinerary was packed with sights and adventures. Our guide and driver were excellent. our guide went above and beyond.
This was an amazing trip and gave us so much information to the culture of Spain and Portugal. The architecture was stunning. We made friends to last a lifetime.
Absolutely enjoyed the Great Iberian Cities tour. The Tour Director, was excellent and no doubt, added to our groups enjoyment on this tour! We were initially scheduled to start the tour stay at the Exe Cristal Palace Hotel, which appeared comfortable to accommodate (3 adults). The hotel was changed to the Barcelona Sants Hotel at last minute. Myself and two other friends had decided to share accommodations on this tour. Unfortunately, the Barcelona Sants hotel room was small, and could not accommodate three separate twin beds, with room in between each of them. Our luggage did not fit (no place to put it and/or open properly). Washroom area was open-concept, which did not provide much privacy. We had to pay an additional $200 each to upgrade to a larger room. This was outside of what we budgeted. A family (2parents/child), may have worked; however; for (3) adult women, it was definitely not suitable. I would suggest Trafalgar Tours consider the clients booking/accommodations prior to changing venues (especially, if changing tour hotels), to ensure no issues arise for the travellers who booked/paid for the tour already. It creates a lot of stress for the traveller(s), with sudden changes that do not take into account their room accommodation needs.
Tour covered some wonderful places with Pmenty to do, but also time to relax & enjoy the places we stayed st
Itinerary great. Our driver and travel guide were the best ever. Unfortunately since I have mobility issues found both Spain and Portugal not accessible friendly especially the hotels. The last hotel we stayed in was the worst and would never stay there again or recommend it. The buffet was mediocre, staff not the friendliness or accommodating and the room was terrible asked for a more accessible room but was refused even though it was requested a week prior. The ideal hotel room for accessible for 2 people would be 2 sinks, walk in shower with handicap bars (a must) and a bit wider aisles to accommodate walkers/wheelchair, 2 night tables and larger elevators would help.. I realize of course these hotels were built sometime ago but some of these suggestions could still be made. My group did have some difficulty communicating with staff, we thought they would speak more English, at times we did use a translator we had on our phone so we got buy just fine. All in all it was a great trip.
Highlights were Opera night with singing waiters, Flamingo and Fado plus Toledo and the Black Madonna at Montserrat. Our tour guide was excellent- very knowledgeable, articulate and caring. Our group was incredible compatible and we had great fun together.
The travel connections to, and from Spain and Portugal or seamless. Our driver and tour guide were excellent. My only complaint if you will was that at some of the dinners, the food was not very good, especially when we went to the Hacienda.
I had a great trip with a small group of 15 people. The tour flowed, no lining up or waiting for people. Everyone got along well, I travelled with some lovely people. In the 9 days we saw a lot of the history of Spain and Portugal. We visited many famous landmarks which were the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide and others were amazing. They were all very knowledgeable, helpful and very easy to get along with. I would book another tour with Trafalgar if was our tour guide. Thank you for an awesome trip
Information that there will be additional charges on optional trips which make up most of the day . 500$ per person. Tours included in the trip are not that important city view and so on . In reality the trip falls around 3000$ pp. the food choice was at best mediocre. Breakfast and hotel quality was good
Gave us too much free time and charged us too much for extra money
Great selection of cities and excursions! The travel director was organized, caring, and provided essential as well as interesting information about the areas we visited. So did the local specialists. The coach was comfortable. The restroom situation could be improved because the one on the coach was unusable toward the end of the trip. The hotels were nice and the hotel in Madrid was exceptional! The food and wine were outstanding and we got a real feel for the local cuisines. Our travel group was diverse and friendly. We would highly recommend this tour!
I enjoyed the opportunity to visit multiple destinations and appreciated the organization and professionalism of the tour team. The accommodations and guided experiences were well planned, and the tour director was knowledgeable and engaging. However, one major drawback was the amount of time spent traveling on the coach. It often felt like a significant portion of the trip was spent on the road, which reduced the time available to truly explore and enjoy the destinations. For major city-to-city transfers, I would strongly recommend incorporating high-speed trains instead of long coach rides. This would provide a more efficient, comfortable experience and allow travelers to maximize their time in each location. While I understand that coach travel can offer scenic views and flexibility, the overall balance of travel time vs. destination time could be improved. This change would make the trip far more enjoyable and better align with traveler expectations for a premium experience. Thank you for the effort in planning, and I hope this feedback helps improve future itineraries.
The itinerary covered all parts of Spain of interest to me, all be it, there were a few long distance travel days. The coach with wifi was comfortable and air conditioned, so made the travel days pass quickly. The tour director was very knowledgeable and shared information about Spain willingly. Two entertainment nights were exceptional experiences. The Flamenco night in Seville and dinner in Madrid where the wait staff sang opera!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip and learned a lot! Travel group were friendly and ourleader was outstanding!
It would ould be great to spend a few nights in Cascais and Cintra.
Too much riding in busses and we did not see any water just churches, pretty boring for the most part. One of the extra activities with the flamingo dancers was good
The extra experiences were excellent! The days were well planned with free time as needed Great trip
Too many optional experiences. You’re paying for hotels, long bus rides and a few sights and meals.
I thought the tour was very good. I think the tour guide could have done more the first night to introduce the tour participants to each other.
This trip didn't have the meet & greet which would have been nice. Also, it seemed like they're are less things included in this trip & you had to pay for more excursions. I did enjoy what we went to & saw & most of the hotels were great. I think that the "drink" replacing the gift was kind of cheap though wine not everyone in our group drank. Maybe there another alternative that could be suggested?
We had a great time on this tour. Our only complaint would be the hotel in Lisbon was not what we would expect from a so called 5 Star hotel. The room decor/furniture was outdated, and hallways were dark.
The distance between the cities visited is very long and tiring. One day we were on the bus for 8 hours., another day 4 hours, another day approximately 7 hours with a visit in between.. Way too long. If I had known this ahead of time, I would not have taken this tour and after talking with other people on the tour, they felt the same way. In total, we were on the bus for 2 and 1/2 days. I paid a total of $500 in extra optional tours, many of which should have been included. Some were quite expensive after seeing what we were given. The dinners which were included limited you to one drink. And we were told that anything extra we would have to pay for ourselves. Cheap. Even at the farewell event, we were limited to either a glass of wine or beer. The tour director told us no cocktails. Once again, cheap. The last hotel on our tour in Lisbon said it was a five-star hotel. That is very hard to believe in that our room was very outdated. Everyone else we talked to felt the same way. We pay a lot to go on your tours, but all we hear about is tips for the tour director, tips for the bus driver, tips for the city guides in addition to all the optional excursions which are overpriced. Well, I have decided that I will not be taking any of your tours in the future. You need to do a lot of revamping.
It was great exploring all the Great Iberian cities! We had a great time with our tour group and the food was so good!
well planned and left all the details to the professionals
Great itinerary to get an overview of Spain and Portugal at a moderate pace. Professional and knowledgeable, local Travel Director and Bus Driver.
I enjoyed this tour - the travel director, driver, and local specialists were excellent.
It's a great trip. The hotel's should be closer to main attractions, restaurants etc.
The Trafalgar team was great and safely showed us the great sores in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Lisbon, Cascáis and Sintra. What a great experience. There are a couple of days of bus rides, but they are broken up with comfort stops and tours in many cases. Great hotel choices too.
This was my first time traveling using Trafalgar and it was an awesome experience! Our Travel Director, was amazing! She made the trip so much fun with her knowledge, insight, and quick wit. She was an absolute delight and I would highly recommend her as a TD to anyone thinking of traveling to Spain and Portugal and I would love to have her again on a future trip. Our coach driver, was also amazing as well! We always felt safe and he so expertly navigated the bus through tight spaces. All of the tour guides we had for each city had such a wealth of knowledge that it brought each city to life! I am so happy and satisfied with taking the trip to Spain and Portugal with Trafalgar!
Be aware that there is a significant amount of time on the bus when traveling between cities. Local tour guides were excellent.
A wonderful trip featuring two nights each in four hotels (Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Lisbon) over eight nights, with many, many hours on a motor coach in between hotel cities. Included and optional tours were great but I wish the trip was three nights each in three cities instead.
It’s a fabulous introduction to Spain and Portugal. The focus was on the history of Spain and its culture, my primary interests.
