If you’re ready for a challenging hike at elevation, and you want to see some of the most remarkably unspoiled ruins in South America; this is the trip for you!
The trek to Choquequirao was a backlist adventure for me, it was a deep connection with nature that feeds the soul. The hike was challenging as well as the camping, but everything went so smoothly and every detail was taken care of, so I only had to focus on me having a fun time, getting to be part of a team, and learning about place while absorbing delicious food, information, and the natural world. Also, I am older than many but age didnt matter, we were a team of people having the same goals. A magical experience!
The guide really made it a great experience, the rest of the crew was nice as well although I didn't get much chance to interact with them.
G-Adventures showed us an awesome time in Peru! The guides were experienced and knowledgable, the memories will last a lifetime!
Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime. Cusco and Choque, the Andes in general, are stunning. I only wish I?d had more time to rest, more time to get from point A to point B? it felt very rushed. And more time at the ruins. I loved the food and our guide, and the opportunity to experience the people and the country was amazing.
For adventure seekers ready for a challenge, the Choquequirao to Machu Picchu Express trip is a 6-day trekking tour through the heart of Peru’s ancient Andes. Starting and ending in Cusco, this strenuous journey takes you from the secluded ruins of Choquequirao—known as the ‘sister city’ to Machu Picchu and far less visited—through lush forests and dramatic mountain scenery. With few crowds, trekkers can immerse themselves in Incan history and marvel at the untouched wilderness. The route is graced with sweeping vistas of the Andes, culminating in a visit to the iconic Machu Picchu. Guided by local experts, this package ensures you experience both solitude and awe-inspiring archaeological wonders. The unique selling point of this trek is its blend of remoteness and history, offering an exhilarating alternative to the classic Inca Trail for young adults and experienced travelers who crave both physical challenge and authentic connection to Peru’s past.
