day 1 - Cusco and City Tour
The city tour is a fabulous half day tour, that takes you around all the most important sites of Cusco. Including visits to the Temple of the Sun (Koricancha) and the various Inca sites found outside of the city, you get to see an incredible mixture of Inca and Spanish-style and in the case of Koricancha, the two combined. The Cusco city is truly a fascinating place to visit; providing a blend of the two cultures (Andean and Spanish) the city has a look and feel about it that is completely different to the rest of Peru.
We also visit the most important church known as the Cathedral and the Inca sites around the town of Saqsayhuaman, Qenqo, and Tambomachay.
day 2 - Sacred Valley Tour
The Sacred Valley tour is the most popular tour in the region. The Sacred Valley of the Incas was a crucial area for the Inca Empire and it functioned as both an agricultural, spiritual and political centre for them.
Throughout its length, there are many Inca and Pre-Inca sites that can be found. The Sacred Valley tour visits the 2 main sites, Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Lasting a full day, you will get to appreciate the fine works of craftsmanship that the Incas produced.
See the beautiful scenery of the Sacred Valley visiting the Pisaq Market and the Inca site, then visit the town of Ollantaytambo at the end of the afternoon, on the way back to Cusco get a small stop in the most historic textile town of Chinchero.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley.
day 3 - Inca Trail
Early morning we will pick you up from your hotel (about 5:00 am) and then drive to the train station in Ollantaytambo in our private van. We will take the train to Kilometer 104, which takes approximately 1 hour. Km 104 is an unscheduled train stop so you will probably feel a twinge of satisfaction that the train is stopping especially for you – and by knowing you are about to see things that no one else will get to! At Km 104 we will get off the train and pass the Inca Trail checkpoint where we will see our first archaeological site called Chachabamba (2,170 m / 7,170 ft). This site was also used as a religious and administrative center and features several buildings.
After exploring the Inca site, we will gradually ascend for 2 hours climbing Inca stone steps while your guide points out different flora and fauna along the Inca Trail. We will then pass a tall waterfall before arriving at the archaeological site called Wiñay Wayna at (2,650 m / 8,700 ft), which is named after an orchid and means Forever Young in Quechua the native language. We will climb to the top of the ruins and enjoy lunch with an incredible view of Wiñay Wayna and the Sacred Valley view. This large site sits on a mountainside and features experimental terraces that the Incas used to grow different crops.
Once we finish our tour here, we will continue our hike for 1 ½ hours on a part of the Inca Trail which is relatively flat, with small ascents and descents along the way.
At about 3:00 pm or later we will reach the Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,920 ft) which is called Intipunku in the Native language.This is where we will have our first view of Machu Picchu, we will get the best pictures and views of the wonder of the world, at the end of the day we will head down to the ruins to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, you will check in to your hotel.
Dinner will be offered in the best local restaurant in town.
day 4 - Machu Picchu Tour
You will have early breakfast at your hotel and then we will take a very early bus (5:30 am) along the winding road to Machu Picchu to see and enjoy the sunrise. Once there you will be given a full walking tour of the site.
If you want to climb Huayna Picchu mountain, you will begin the hike at 10 AM (the price for hiking Huayna Picchu Mountain is US $75 this permit is not included in the package price).
If you are not climbing the mountain you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu before you return to Aguas Calientes by bus.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will board the expedition train to Poroy or Ollantaytambo. From Poroy or Ollantaytambo you will travel by private Transportation to Cusco and we will drop you off at your Cusco hotel. Arrival time in Cusco city depends on the time of your train ticket but is generally between 7 PM.
day 5 - Rainbow Mountain Hike
In order to maximize our time and experience on the trail and at the mountain, our day will start before dawn. Collecting you from your Cusco hotel around 4:30 AM, we make a 3-hour drive through the South Valley to the trailhead at Cayrachiry (4,500 m / 14,763 ft). Our transportation will provide blankets for those who want to take the opportunity for a little more sleep.
Upon reaching the village, we provide breakfast, perfect fuel for the hiking ahead. Our trek beings along the meandering path of a beautiful stream. As dawn continues to break around us, the surrounding herds of Alpacas and Llamas will be waking too, and our paths will often cross as we continue our hike to the rainbow mountain.
The distant majesty of Ausangate Mountain will be our backdrop as we leave the stream to wander through the rustic villages that make up the remote communities of this area.
Our early start means we are not rushing, and so we will have plenty of opportunities to stop for rest or snacks to keep our energy levels up.
Back on the trail, we encounter even more of the traditional elements of this trail. The area is home to many farms and we will pass fields of potatoes and other vegetables which are the lifeblood of the farming community. We will also see some quite unique fauna, perhaps Chinchillas or even wild Vicunas. "Vicunas are the only non-domesticated animal of the llama family found in Peru".
After hiking for around 2 hours, we finally reach our destination, the magnificent Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). No photoshop or Instagram filters here, this awesome display of colour is 100% natural, and completely breathtaking. you will love this spot.
We will take our time at the summit so that you can take pictures, explore the area or just take in the spectacular views. Then we take a short 10-minute walk into the Red Valley itself, a tranquil and beautiful hike amongst the crimson rocks that leads us to a spectacular view across the valley. our guide will let you know when it is time to return, and we hike downhill the way we came. In a sense, though this is almost a different hike, as we take in the views that were behind us on our ascent.
We will get back to the same spot where we started, after getting our lunch we will take our van back to Cusco. Then, it’s just a 3-hour drive back to Cusco. We will drop you off at your Cusco hotel around 6 pm, no doubt exhausted but with incredible memories of a unique day.
day 6 - Cusco Walking Tour - Local Markets
Early morning, your guide will go to meet you at your hotel and then you will take a great walking tour, we will walk around the town of Cusco, you will have the time to visit the oldest Market in the town market call Cascaparo, later we will walk all around the most important neighborhoods of the city of Cusco. in the most traditional area known as San Blas, then we will cross the 12 Angles street and the Haturumiyoq street.
You will also have time for shopping if you wish to get some souvenirs from the city of Cusco.
Finally, enjoy a final lunch in Cusco, and time to pack all your luggage to go back home.
Late afternoon we will go to pick you up from your hotel and we will take you to the airport in Cusco.
