There is a LOT of walking in very hot conditions. Would be nice to know how much each day so braces or medications could be planned better or not planning to do all the excursions which had more walking to them. 12,000 steps per excursions in 38 C degree temperatures is a lot for older folks. Some of the hotels were not in a good location for the bus to drive in the narrow roads. The local guides could help their clients more with bartering than helping the vendors especially when they speak the language. Not sure relaxed start is fair for this trip. I get the earlier we left the cooler the temperatures but should let clients know before booking. The Hilton in Casablanca was HORRIBLE. Certainly not at the level of a Hilton nor Insight. Glad we were only there 1 night. We had no choice but to have a guide in Morocco as well as local guides. If there is no choice then it should be included in the gratuities collected pre-tour. Seemed we were always tipping for guides for the "included" excursions. Would have been nice to see inside a bull ring since it is something one expects to see in Spain. Simon was BRILLIANT....he had to herd cats at times as adults like to wonder off and express their own opinions. Luis/Sergio were AMAZING driving the bus especially in Morocco where traffic goes everywhere and is extremely busy. They were always smiling and helping where ever they could.
We loved all the places that we visited but. The packing and unpacking was exhausting. Up early and getting the luggage out the door early because we were traveling to another location. The hotels we great except the hotel in Granada I believe it was the hotel before the hotel in Tormolino, Spain . The hotel had a Hilton sign on the outside but that was the previous hotel and I believe it was the double tree , everyone had issues with the rooms and had to be moved . One traveler found a sock under the bed . My carpet was filthy, not air working , other people moved 3 times , filthy carpeting , air not working, vomit on the bathroom mirror. One of the people traveling clean out the air conditioning and cleaned out all the dust . That hotel was unavailable. Simon our tour director was fantastic, and Sergio was amazing the best driver in the world. The narrow roads , motorcycles squeezing between cars along side of the bus , watching for fast motorized scooters on the sidewalks in front of the bus while we were trying to board the bus . The insane part is that the city allowed them to be driven on the sidewalks , and they cared less if pedestrians were walking. We enjoyed meeting new friends for other countries. Joyce Sikorski
It’s full on so be prepared for a busy trip
our tour guide was amazingly well knowledgeable he was kind considerate looked after all of us extremely well he well deserves a promotion our next trip with insight we wld love to have him again we cannot speak highly enough of him
Was a wonderful trip - we had an amazing guide with Helder, who went above and beyond to look after us all and give us the best possible experience.
Dont get too excited about Casablanca, Insight needs to make this day a bit more exciting . The movie gives it such a hype but in reality it was a bit bland.
Our tour director and drivers were a wonderful team and resource to the whole group. The itinerary is full of interesting sites with a great deal of historical information. Each days agenda was posted by the tour director on WhatsApp app. due to the wide spreadgeographic area that this tour covers there were two or three travel days on the luxury coach bus. I did not mind since I am prone to resting on those days. I enjoyed all the hotels that we stayed at and participated in all the optional excursions. I look forward to traveling with Insight vacations again next year.
Exotic locations, fantastic tour director and driver. Don’t hesitate - book this trip!
Embark on an incredible journey to uncover the vibrant culture and true essence of three remarkable countries! With every stop, you’ll experience unforgettable highlights that will leave you captivated and inspired. Get ready for an adventure that celebrates the heart and spirit of each destination!
It was excellent and very full on but I would liked to have had more time in Portugal and an overnight stay in Gibraltar and stay away from Morocco.
Just a great experience,
Yes
This was a wonderful trip! I think that it has a great balance of sight-seeing, and down time. I do think there could be less time spent in Morocco, and more time spent in Spain, Portugal, and Gibraltar. The extra excursions are definitely worth it as well.
Really loved all of the places that we visited, especially the palaces, mosques, and home visits. We find that Insight really helps one learn in depth about the places visited.
Loved every minute of this tour. It all started with our tour guise who was absolutely amazing 🤩
More Portugal and less Morocco. Morocco rather disappointing, no real history and not allowed in most places
The trip was a great mix of history, nature, culture, hotel selections, sight seeing selections and more.
Lovely trip. Saw so many interesting sights. Fabulous tour director. Nice hotels except 1 where we were in a handicap room & hubby's 6'2". Future travelers need to know each tourist must schlep their personal baggage up the ramp onto the ferry to & from Morocco. Very strenuous for us seniors. Had we known, we would not have included that segment. Still rate it 5 stars!!
Spain and Portugal itinerary were great and what we had expected. Morocco was although interesting in parts, appeared very focussed on seeing every Mosque in every city we visited…and when there we were told we (as non Muslims) could only view these structures from the outside, it became quite boring after a while. A contrast to the tour we did in Turkey and saw the Hagia Sofia & other historic religious sites, inside and outside. The majority of the food served at various venues in Morocco was pretty ordinary. Casablanca was a bit of a dump and a waste of time staying there, a quick visit en route to somewhere more interesting, allowing more time in Tangiers would have been use of the allocated time we had in morrocco.
Interesting itinerary...was disappointed in casablanca only seeing a mosque from a distance and a phony Rick's Cafe from the movie. Accommodations were excellent except for Tangiers where we were stuck in a handicapped room. The worst experience of the tour was embarking the ferry between Spain and Morocco. Having to drag a 50 pound suitcase and carryon bag up a steep ramp was not fun. Our tour director gets a 10+ accessible, personable, and extremely knowledgeable.
I would have liked a bit more Portugal and a little less Morocco but in all a great trip.
I wouldn’t recommend traveling in the summer. The heat, humidity, lack of air conditioning (other than hotels), and walking, made it difficult at any age, to appreciate the surroundings.
Fantastic experience and extremely knowledgeable TD and guides!
I think that spending less time in Morocco and more in Portugal would be better. Otherwise, it was great.
Some places should be 2 or 3 night stays, especially Madrid.
Needed more time in Portugal. Maybe porto should be included. We went to Barcelona by our own steam at end of tour but it should be included. Lots of walking which took its toll on older people. Three hour castle visit in Granada after lunch where alcohol was served was hard to handle.
We enjoyed the trip, however we were disappointed that there was only 1/2 day spent at the Prado in Madrid. There are many more treasures in Madrid. We were intrigued by Morocco, so different than we invisioned. We suggest that Casablanca be a drive through city and stay in Rabat which has more to offer than Casablanca.
Excellent trip. Less days in Morocco and more days in Portugal will be ideal. was excellent along with all the drivers. Better luggage management with Ferry service is recommended.
I would remove Casablanca from the itinerary. There was not anything to do near the hotel. Cafe was not worth the time.
Unless you choose to take all the optional tours you will miss some extraordinary experiences. I would like to see that better explained at the outset. Itinerary is very good.
Moderate walking but not at a steady pace. Can be very warm at certain times. Great hotels and restaurants. Much to see.
If you want to see the treasures of the 3 different countries, you must sign up. Our tour guide was the most compelling expert. There was so much to see and embrace. Dinners were absolutely fabulous, and top notch hotels.
I really enjoyed all of the places we visited on this itinerary! We really got to see a great deal, much more than if we had been on a cruise. I especially enjoyed the small villages we visited where we were able to meet people who lived there and in some cases enjoy their hospitality.
Could have stayed longer in Fez and skipped Casablanca. Other than that great tour with a great tour guide.
1. Prado visit needs to be revamped. In the same manner as our visit in 2015 on the European Grandeur tour, the local guide spent way too much time on a very small number of paintings. We would have preferred to see more with less detailed descriptions. 2. We would have liked more time in Portugal but not at the expense of the rest of the itinerary, so the only way to do that is to add a day or 2. We do understand you offer more detailed tours of Portugal. 3. Overall we loved the tour and were very happy with all aspects except for item 1 above.
Great tour director in . Did not like the "hard sell" tactics by rug vendor in Morocco.
All the places we visited were interesting. We had some very knowledgeable guides. Our tour director was very informative as well. Excellent coach driver. Only negative is the amount you have to pay for the optional extras. Can make the tour very expensive. You feel you need to do them as you would otherwise miss out on experiencing something special.
mostly good would have liked more time in Granada Gibraltar was great too much in Morocco each town similar food below standard local guide in Fes was pushy hotels generally good
It was great.
Visited interesting places we never heard of.
Get to see a lot of interesting locations in a short time, yet still have some free time.
good combination of History, Geography and Culture
The itinerary is good but don't be surprised if you don't see things that are listed on it. You need to take lots of optional extras to make certain you see more of the countries. I think less of Morocca and more time in Portugal would be an improvement.
This itinerary was perfect for a 17 day trip. It gave us time for rest, explore and just enough time in each city/ country.
