For those who appreciate leisurely cycling paired with regional flavors, this self-guided tour package is the ideal escape.
Very enjoyable 6 days cycling. Mostly on quiet, country roads (with usually more bikes than cars!). Infrequent short stretches on busy roads (but not an issue). Fairly flat- with occasional short hills. Easily covered the miles, with plenty of time to relax afterwards! The (hired) bikes were of a good standard- especially the electric bike my wife hired. Hotels all excellent (except on the extra night- see below). Apart from Pollenca, we ate in the hotels every night- all very good.Weather perfect - apart from 1-2 hours rain on one day.Lovely, varied scenery.
This trip is an excellent way to see an extremely touristy island in a different way.The cycle routes are mainly on small countryside roads with lovely rural view's.I was surprised that Mallorca is such a fantastic place for cycling. The respect motorists give you on the roads made it feel extremely safe and such a pleasant change from cycling at home. The maps were much easier for us to follow than the written guide as you have to stop to many times to check your still on route.A digital route would be an improvement but it's actually quite fun getting a bit lost and brushing up on our map reading skills.
The trip ticked all the boxes as I imagined them, starting with beaches with turquoise transparent waters on the first and last days, from there it was medieval market villages, quiet cycling tracks through vineyards, oaks and almond trees and of course the mountains and their excellent views. Quiet hotels with character, lovely Mediterranean food and above all the charming ways of the locals. I would love to do it again, changing the route to discover even more places.
Very good accommodation, and also very good rides. We were given (upon asking) the electronic routes which were pretty much essential and made it much easier to navigate. Loved the great cycle-friendly lanes. Great accommodation too, with lovely food.
