Imagine waking to the symphony of the rainforest, where vibrant wildlife and lush canopies define your days—welcome to the heart of Costa Rica. This 12-day guided tour begins and ends in San Jose, weaving through must-see destinations like Tortuguero National Park, Arenal Volcano, and Manuel Antonio National Park. Crafted for seasoned explorers and senior travelers seeking a moderate level of activity, this trip balances engaging adventure with comfort.
Your journey takes you deep into emerald jungles, where two nights at a secluded San Carlos resort and three nights amid Arenal’s geothermal wonders promise immersion in nature. Wander across hanging bridges suspended above the rainforest floor, and choose between hiking the dramatic lava fields of Arenal Volcano or soaring over the treetops on a thrilling zip line experience. At Tortuguero National Park, participate in sea turtle conservation at a research station—an opportunity to give back to local preservation efforts.
Unique to this tour are hands-on encounters: sample fresh cacao at a local plantation and join a crocodile safari or a leisurely bird-watching cruise through the rainforest’s winding waterways. The tour’s thoughtful itinerary assures there’s always time to absorb the sights and sounds, whether you’re crossing the misty bridges of Arenal or relaxing by Manuel Antonio’s pristine beaches.

Your suggestion of excessive tipping (paying your employees) will keep me from traveling with Collette again. Every company should pay their employees. Tipping is an extra, not a designated amount. We will find another land tour because of this!
The only reason I would not take another Collette tour is the ridiculous request for excessive tipping of the tour guide and bus driver. I expect that you should pay your employees a fair wage and if I want to tip I will decide how much. Many of us on the trip thought this was an embarrassment to Collette. Highlight of the trip.......watching a sea turtle lay eggs on the beach!
I was traveling solo and the tour guide was so very kind to everyone. He made each person feel like he was treating them like they were family.
Loved our tour manager Olman Vargas - he was very knowledgeable about Costa Rican culture and the wildlife. He went out of his way to accommodate everyone on the trip. We loved the boat cruises, ziplining, walking in the canopy, and white water rafting. There was a fair amount of bus riding, but Olman gave us opportunities to visit coffee, banana, and cacao planatations and stop for "*** ***" breaks. If I were to change anything, it would be the Marriott as a hotel choice at the end. I would have preferred to be closer to the national park (within walking distance).
I really enjoyed ziplining, white-water rafting and the cloud forest hanging bridges. But I also like the impromptu stop at the banana processing plant and the ox cart manufacturing facility. The coffee and chocolate tours were great. Martha was the best! I wish I could take another tour with her. She is so nice, knowledgeable, and just like a member of the family. Martha is the best guide I have ever had!
The tour guide was absolutely fabulous and definitely interacted with everyone on the tour. I really enjoyed the white water rafting and especially the exciting zip lining thrill. All the meals were delicious and the portions were great. Would definitely go back again.
