The only reason I would not take another Collette tour is the ridiculous request for excessive tipping of the tour guide and bus driver. I expect that you should pay your employees a fair wage and if I want to tip I will decide how much. Many of us on the trip thought this was an embarrassment to Collette. Highlight of the trip.......watching a sea turtle lay eggs on the beach!

The Most Incredible Adventure Ever

Two weeks in Costa Rica getting to explore the country's most beautiful and diverse sites was one of the most incredible adventures I have been on. The fact that all places are so unique and diverse from one another and getting to see incredible wildlife throughout the trip was fantastic.

Great all around trip. The guide (Jeff) was organized, attentive and fun to be around. Briefings each day were informative and useful. The food was excellent, camp sites were good. The rafting was very exhilarating. The equipment was in good condition and they were prepared for mishaps. We had bike chain break but they had spare bike readily available. You could push yourself as hard or as easy as you felt comfortable.

I was very happy with our tour. Our tour manager was very knowledgeable about the areas we went to and was very fun. All the places we went were memorable. I do have to mention that the zip line was especially memorable because it poured rain. Not everyone would like that but I was traveling with my daughter and we were cracking up the whole time. We also loved seeing all the wild life and everyone took pictures and uploaded them to the photo circle. I bought lots is coffee from the Doka tour and loved the farm visit. It’s hard to just narrow things down to a couple of favorites. I would consider going to Costa Rica again!

I don't think we would have seen as much of costa Rica as we did if we had not taken this tour, it fun to meet new friends the Bus driver was amazing and the guide was so knowable and rich in history made the trip fun, I would have made the last stop longer the down time at the beach was much need after being on the nonstop go.

There were too many wonderful experiences and places to single out any one. The whole trip was incredible. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who is in good physical shape and adventurous. There was quite a bit of strenuous walking and some in our group struggled a bit.

Tips for seniors traveling to Costa Rica

Age range for senior tours in Costa Rica

At Bookmundi, senior travelers are defined as those 60 years and older, but there is no strict age limit, and anyone aged 50+ will typically find these tours well-suited to their needs. Although younger participants may occasionally join, the tours are specifically created to ensure comfort for mature travelers. Some of the major tour operators offering senior tours in Costa Rica ensure that tours suit the preferences and abilities of the 50+ age group, providing a balance of sightseeing and leisure without the pressure of strenuous activities.

Recommended activities and destinations for seniors in Costa Rica

Costa Rica offers a wealth of senior-friendly activities that highlight its stunning natural beauty without demanding intense physical effort. Seniors can enjoy guided nature walks in Monteverde, where well-maintained trails allow easy exploration of the cloud forest. Wildlife viewing in Manuel Antonio National Park offers short, gentle hikes on flat trails to spot sloths, monkeys, and exotic birds. A scenic boat cruise in Tortuguero is an excellent choice, providing a relaxing way to admire lush canals and vibrant wildlife.

While the Arenal Volcano area is a must-visit, some hikes around the volcano involve uneven terrain; those with mobility concerns can opt for hot springs experiences or shorter, accessible trails. Similarly, Monteverde’s hanging bridges involve stair climbing, but many parks offer lower-elevation trails suitable for less mobile travelers. The serene beaches along the Pacific Coast, such as Playa Hermosa or Samara, offer idyllic, accessible spots to unwind. Best time for seniors to travel to Costa Rica

The best months for seniors to travel to Costa Rica are December through April, when the weather is dry and daytime temperatures comfortably range between 20°C and 30°C. This period offers ideal conditions for sightseeing, nature walks, and relaxing beach days without the interruption of tropical rains. It's advisable to avoid visiting between May and November, when the rainy season peaks, potentially making some activities and roads less accessible, especially for travelers with mobility concerns.
