Sip wine on Mount Etna, stroll chic Taormina streets, and indulge in Modican chocolate—the Colours of Sicily tour brings the island’s vibrant palette to life over nine days. Designed for experienced travelers, this easy-paced mountains tour winds from Palermo to Catania, weaving through Marsala, colorful villages, and sunlit vineyards.
Every day blends natural beauty with rich local culture, from meeting friendly Sicilians to sampling regional treats. The standout feature of this tour package is its immersive approach, offering a true taste—both literal and metaphorical—of Sicily’s charm.
Sicily certainly didn't disappoint. It is a beautiful place and the history it has to offer is wonderful. I loved every moment but particularly Savoca. Visiting the markets in Catania was an experience not to be missed. Even though the landscape in places looked very dry it had a beauty of its own.
A good overview of Sicily. However, one big complaint I had about this trip was that the seats on the coach were set at a specific recline and that could not be changed. It was very uncomfortable. Also, the sunroof could not be closed. It was 30C at 10 am and we didn’t need more sun beating down on us. The guide was good and the driver excellent! It was a very full bus (48 travellers) and it took a while for everyone to board and depart the bus at each location.
Most of the tours were excellent. and all the guides on the optional tours were great! The touring the winery was mediocre. All the hotels were excellent. A little too much walking once the bus stopped. Loved Cefalu, Ragusa, Taoromina and Savoca! went above and beyond!
The itinerary was comprehensive and well paced. The hotels were very good and the dinner choices were excellent with the local farm dinners exceptional. We were, however, disappointed in the seafood dinner in Sferracavallo. , our tour leader and , our bus driver were exceptional. We always felt SAFE and well informed. As a group we ate well, toured, learned Sicilian culture and geography but most of all had FUN.
Very vigorous. Lots of steep uphill walking.
Extensive cover of the island, it's people and culture. Excellent food experiences in vineyards and farms.
Great trip and outstanding tour guide
Very well organized, the director and driver were outstanding.
Colors of Sicily was absolutely a beautiful trip. The best tour director, (Giacomo)and great driver.( Michele) I was only disappointed when we visited the vinery. We paid a lot of money just for a dish of pasta. Infect everyone on the bus was disappointed. The rest of the trip was perfect in any way possible.
The tour was amazing, our tour guide and driver were great
I would like to have a little more time off to look around
I would not recommend this tour nor will I visit Sicily again. I thought I would be able to immerse myself in the rich culture of Sicily, but instead I found myself searching for a story to help me understand why I took this tour. Two of the optional tours were cancelled because of poor planning, and many of the hotels, although comfortable and accommodating, were located out of walking distance to experience any of the colors of Sicily.
Itinerary was varied and hit on the highlights of the island. I liked the idea we had some time on our own to explore, but maybe not enough time. Some places we had and hour or so and this was not enough. Some of the hotels were not in the city so we could not explore after dinner - they were isolated.
One of the best tours I have been on in a very long time. The staff were excellent, the places visited were of the best, and the culture of the land enveloped one and all. Be prepared for walking on uneven ground as the street are paved. Plus you will need to be able to handle walking up and down hills and slopes and the land is quite mountainous.
Very physically strenuous for anyone over 70! There were about 6 guest over 80 years and oldest was 85. They were not able to physically do all the activities ans sightseeing that was planned by the trip itinerary. Suggest that Trafalgar provide a better and more accurate description of the physical endurance required. The brochure list it as moderate but it is well beyond Midwest in the opinion of most of the participants based in comments heard during voyage.
A little too much walking, especially for the older people in the group
The tour was absolutely delightful. It provide various opportunities to see and experience different aspects of Sicilian culture and history. The accommodations provided on the tour were great providing good service and amenities such as breakfast, pools and air conditioning. Our tour director Roberto and driver Simone were exceptional, always patient, courteous and provided us with details for the upcoming extra excursions as well as the next days itinerary. The optional tours were wonderful and again provided an additional experience to Sicilian scenery and lifestyle.
Good itinerary but too many excursions. More should have been included
I enjoyed myself, and learned about the beautiful island of Sicily. My guide was beyond wonderful. He made sure our trip was perfect in every way. The excursions, the guides provided and the meals were fantastic. our driver was masterful in driving the bus and getting us back. I recommend this trip, and look forward to returning.
Good Itinerary, But too many Optional Tours which is also too highly Priced. The Optional Tours are also using the same Tour Bus, so why should there be a high Fee Charged ???
Excellent!! Every town, every excursion and every guest speaker, excellent!! I will do this same tour again in the near future.
This was the best trip. We have take several Trafalgar tours, and this was the best by far. It was an authentic Italian/Sicilian experience. Many of the places we went to were not touristy like places on other tours. The experiences (optional and included) were well thought out. I felt like I was contributing to the local economy. Our TD *personal info removed by Feefo* was excellent and so was our driver *personal info removed by Feefo*. He always had us laughing and added to our experience. The hotels were very nice, clean and appropriate. This trip is a "must do" if you have interests in seeing Sicily.
The colors of Sicily tour was phenomenal in every way. Sicily is a hidden gem! The included stops as well as the optional excursions were wonderful. They provided an in-depth knowledge of Sicily and the Sicilian people. All meals were excellent! was very attentive and managed the group with professionalism and humor. was an excellent driver, and I felt completely safe traveling in the bus. The hotels were spacious and clean. Approximately four hotels included a pool, which was greatly appreciated after a day of sightseeing. I was impressed with all aspects of the trip.
The highlight was the travel director commentary and great sense of humour and attention to individuals' needs. It's tough moving from one hotel to another (5) and it demands some stamina to walk up cobbletoned streets, but there was always something worthwhile at the end of the trek. A cruise was most weclome. One hotel has a racetrack behind it and a good view of the horses being exercised. The Norman cathedral built by ****, Arabs and Xians with their motifs was fascinating.
Difficult for elderly to participate in several of the excursions….too hilly. The operators of the boat excursion were rude and jeopardized the safety of the participants. Dinners were fair to poor.
It was a very extensive itinerary where we saw lots of interesting places throughout Sicily. Some of the hotels were in the middle of no where and not a lot of free time but was very enjoyable.
I really enjoyed the itinerary. It encompassed a nice variety of activities. My husband and I are quite fit but I did notice that some of the senior travelers struggled a bit with the walking. The “be my guest” excisions were wonderful and and were excellent.
The sites visited left much to be desired and too difficult to access with large buses resulting in extensive walking in extreme heat. As in all of Europe, the churches were beautiful but visiting salt pans and learning how sea salt was made - not interesting. Most restaurants were ok, nothing exceptional.
Hotel in Palermo needs better signage many of us struggled to find it. Curtains moldy. Staff very helpful & great breakfast. No coffee or milk in room, feisty smell & drains smelled. Hotel at Ragusa little fruit for breakfast too many cakes. Had to pay for pool towels. In room given 1 very thin bath towel. No soap in shower. Hard bed & horrible pillows & no mattress protector, yuk. I think this was an expensive tour considering we had to pay for optional dinners. Optional tours or dinner very expensive. A tour tour like this needs to be totally inclusive. The your guide seemed to do little as we had specialists who fa e us too much info. We need basic facts.
I thought that more time could have been spent in the towns visited. We did our tours and were then given a short amount of time to check out the town. I felt as though I didn’t have enough time to explore on my own. I would have loved to spend more time in Cefalu at the beach. We loved that most of the hotels had pools so that we could unwind in the afternoon. But on several days we had one night stays at hotels. I would have preferred to drive further so that we could have gotten to the next town. Some of the hotels were in areas where you were not able to walk to any restaurants or stores. Also, many of the people on our tour were elderly and were not aware that they would be walking up steep streets in the heat. Many of them struggled on some of the tours. The dinner on our last night was amazing! It was held at a family farm and was by far the best meal that I had in Sicily. All the tour guides were very knowledgeable and Simone was a great coach driver.
We absolutely enjoyed The Colours of Sicily Tour. was a very experienced tour director - he was informative, organized, sincere and very entertaining. Our group had various ages (from seniors to our children) yet he was able to keep everyone engaged during the tour. provided both local/regional information but also general details on Italian/Sicilian culture. Our driver was excellent - on a daily basis he was able to navigate our luxury coach through narrow streets and hair pin turns on the mountain roads with ease. We always felt safe and comfortable on the coach. The itinerary itself was balanced and a great sampling of the island.
The tour was planned well by Trafalgar. The itinerary showed us many places in Sicily to give a comprehensive view of the island. I wished that the hotels were closer to the city centers of all the towns visited so that you had the option if you wanted to explore the town on your own after the day's itinerary was over. That was quite disappointing as many hotels were far away from the city center and it took anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to reach a city center. This made us feel like we were stuck in the hotel for many nights of the trip when we wished we could have explored more.
