Salamanca: See the handsome arcaded Plaza Mayor, the honey-coloured cathedral and the 16th century university buildings as you explore the city with your Local Expert.
Porto: See the iconic bridges and buildings decorated in tiles.
Obidos: Lead by your Travel Director, walk through the picturesque narrow streets up to the main square of this ancient walled town.
Experience the Best of Spain and Portugal on this 15-day guided tour. In Madrid, an art historian will walk you through the Prado Museum, where Spain's most impressive paintings hang. Navigate Segovia’s medieval streets alongside a Local Expert. Journeying to Granada, visit the region’s oldest olive grove, before dining in the home of a local family, sampling local produce and wine. At the Alhambra, explore the palace's lace-like stone walls and wander its manicured gardens. In Seville, stomp to the sounds of an acoustic guitar during a private flamenco dance lesson. In Porto, sip port during a wine tasting, and in Lisbon, see an architectural masterpiece — the Gothic-style Jerónimos Monastery.
The optional experiences are very good, however when signing up for them, there is no mention of what time that they will occur, nor the duration. That is except for the dinners of course. You can guess because of the location, but I would prefer to have a little bit more time in between experiences, just to digest all that I have seen! This may be because I no longer have the stamina of a 40 year old 😬 Otherwise I have no complaints.
Comprehensive, covered all of the main centres. Itinerary was varied and interesting.
Spain is awesome and exceptional value for great food and wine. It is packed with history much of which was shared by our exceptionally knowledgeable tour guide Bradley. We loved Portugal too especially Porto with Gibraltar being the only slightly grungy novelty. Would we return to Spain.. yes in a heartbeat 💗
what a wonderful trip You get to see so much of Spain and Portugal and Gibraltar!
Very busy itinerary, especially if you choose all the extra side trips. We did see a lot, especially historic facts (some present day info wd be great), but cd have spent a couple more hours in some places if we’d added an extra day to the trip thst is. A number of us were ‘tipped out’ w all the various tour guides and expected gratuities. Details about the various churches, castles, etc. cd have been condensed (many of the men and women had seen and heard enough facts from 500-1000 yrs back). A number of times things were repeated too often. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the awesome weather, food and hotels were very nice. Alberto and Pascal did their very best to keep us on schedule, informed and fed royally. And another tip, ‘Talking about the details of killing a bull in the ring, cd be taken out. Many of us weren’t pleased.’ Happy I went and looking forward to organizing my pictures.
Tour was packed with the places. history, culture, and foods of Spain and Portugal. The guide. Brad ****, was well-informed, organized, and helpful.
They do their best to keep bus time to a minimum. While on the bus the talk about history, have short videos and music. There is a nice mix of big cities, small towns frozen in time , and beach side resorts
Excellent tour, well presented and executed !
Itinerary was great, would have loved a little more time at a couple of the stops.
It was fantastic, I would highly recommend this tour!! Fado show in Portugal was difficult to understand maybe because none of us understood Portuguese.
I loved the itinerary as it gave us a good look at the cities, the historical landmarks, the cuisine, the landscape and meeting the local people. An excellent tour package I would highly recommend. Lots of walking but done at a leisurely pace.
Tania and Horacio were fantastic great group of travellers hotels were first class, very informative trip great scenery.
It is not for the faint hearted as there is a bit of walking (including hills) and a few days travelling by bus. A reasonable level of fitness is definitely required.
If you want to see all the highlights of Spain and Portugal, this is the perfect tour. You need to have reasonable physical fitness as this is a fast paced trip and if you choose all the optional excursions, you will have limited mornings to sleep in. You are on the go each day but you will see such a variety of sites and experience so much. I can highly recommend this tour.
Hotels were excellent. Breakfast at the hotels were fantastic. I wish the other meals were at little better restaurants and mor food choices. Did not like the farewell dinner restaurant. Our trip director, Pacal, was great. Very knowledgeable, consider of all the group and made the trip wonderful. Overall, we had a great time.
Very busy, early mornings.
I loved our day of leisure on the Mediterranean coast. Our location was perfect and the setting was absolutely beautiful. We saw so many wonderful places. Truly a memorable experience. Our tour guide Patrick was the best!!! He gave us his all. Fun and informative. A real gem.
A dream tour of the Iberian peninsula.
More than happy with itinerary. There was a good variety of experiences.
The itinerary was varied and extensive with excellent commentary from all tour guides.
Saw and experienced so many highlights, not only in the large cities, but also in small villages, such as a charming lunch in someone’s home. Was initially wary of the many optional excursions at additional cost, but they proved to be excellent opportunities and a good value. I don’t really feel that we missed much of what Spain and Portugal have to offer.
It was good to have 2 night stay regularly throughout this tour. It was good to be able to choose various options based on personal preference eg some of the dinners and cultural events being optional.
It is a lot of walking and a lot of exploring. Very beautiful places. I would not have known about it been able to travel to in my own. Great itinerary. Just wish there was more time for photos and alone time (away from local tour guide) so that I could explore my own preferences within a destination. The local tour guides tend to OVER EXPLAIN AND OVER LECTURE literally holding people for a solid 15-20 minutes standing in one spot. Then we are rushing to get our photos because it’s always a race back to the coach.
It was a great introduction trip to Spain and Portugal.
Spain is a very large country and we wanted to see as much of it comfortably as we could. Portugal was also important. I think this trip allowed us to do everything we wanted to do very comfortably. The hotel accommodations in my opinion were excellent. The breakfast every morning was Amazing. The Trip director was very personable and knowledgeable and humorous. Our luggage was managed flawlessly and we never had to carry anything heavy up and downstairs. There was a lot of necessary bus time in order to get to all the places we wanted to visit. But the driver and the director were careful to break that up into manageable stops. There was a toilet on board the bus and the bus was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed a number of exclusive experiences such as a home-cooked meal in a small village in Spain and a personable tour of a small cava winery. There were others. The Gibraltar experience was definitely worth doing but one day will let you accomplish that and that is what we did. I wish I had brought a bathing suit because there were plenty of times to swim either in the hotel pools or on the Mediterranean. I can highly recommend this trip. My wife and I are in our mid and late 70s and we enjoyed it very much.
I loved the cities…Madrid, Salamanca, Barcelona, Lisbon, Malaga and more. I loved the food specially the restaurants and entertainment on the optional excursions. Gibraltar was amazing to see in person. The weather was perfect in the second half of September. It was fun all around
Wasted time visiting little towns with nothing interesting. Spent too much time on the busses. Poor organization by tour guide.
