  • There's a lot more to Iceland than ice (and Bjork). Ford the fjords, glaciers, volcanoes and black sand beaches, and consider adding on a visit to the renowned Blue Lagoon for a soak in the geothermal springs.
  • Spend the evening at the quirky farm town of Modrudalur – an isolated settlement and the highest inhabited place in Iceland.
  • Walk to the mottled blue, grey and black tongue of Vatnajokull glacier – an ice cap so large it covers eight per cent of the country – and discover the incredible Skogafoss Waterfall.
  • Glide past bluewhite icebergs on an included boat tour of Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and soak up the silence of the surrounding grey sand desert.
  • Visit tiny villages and take enlightening detour to places like the Hvolsvollur region, where you will participate in a sustainable tree planting activity to contribute to carbon offsetting efforts.
Start and end in Reykjavik, the "Iceland Discovery" trip is a guided adventure tour that takes 8 days. You will travel through Egilsstadir, Gullfoss Waterfall, Thingvellir National Park and 12 other destinations in Iceland. Marvel at geothermal hot springs, witness the steamy eruptions of a giant geyser, touch the tongue of Europe's biggest glacier at Vatnajokull and cruise the Jokulsarlong Glacial Lagoon, see lava that's still warm after decades and witness the giant Skogafoss and Detifoss waterfalls in all their splendour. Travel through Iceland's isolated corners and the land of the famous Blue Lagoon – so mysterious and ethereal that they have inspired artists, poets and musicians for centuries. Itinerary is draggy for 10 days package. A 7 day package will be preferred. A better Guest house for the first night would start the tour on a better note.

We recommend to check with your local embassies representing the countries that you are traveling to, as part of this itinerary.

Is this trip right for you:
  • A remote location and high-performing currency are just two reasons Iceland can be an expensive destination. This affects things like museum entrance fees and outdoor activities, but is especially noticeable when eating out. Your leader will be able to advise on how to save money, but in remote areas the only option for dinner will be at the guesthouse we are staying at. Please stock up on food at a supermarket prior to arrival if you would like to opt out eating at the guesthouse's restaurant.
  • The extremity of the weather makes for incredible scenery, but it also means Iceland can be very cold, especially at the start and end of the season and at night. Please bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions. On the rare occasion where your leader must alter the itinerary due to the weather, an alternative will be offered.
  • In order to access what’s off the beaten track, a few long drives are in order. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery and spend some time getting to know the other members of your group.
  • As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, solo travellers will share a room with other travellers of the same gender. This trip is a great opportunity to get to know other like-minded people, so embrace it while you can. Please note that a single supplement is available to be booked on this trip, however due to the small size of properties used, availability is very limited. For those travelling as a duo, hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together. Bathroom facilities at the accommodation will be shared rather than ensuite on this trip.
COVID-19 Safety Measures

This trip incorporates the following COVID-19 measures:

  • This tour has received the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travels stamp, which provides travellers with assurance that COVID-19 health and hygiene global standardised protocols have been adopted.
  • Hygiene and safety guidelines will be followed to ensure your well being is looked after during travels.
  • All travellers 18 years and older will be required to be fully vaccinated. Children aged 17 years and under must present either a negative COVID-19 test, proof of recovery or proof of full vaccination. Any customer who is unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons can apply for an exemption. Customers must provide a medical certificate from a medical professional. These new safety measures apply on all trips, except for tours in Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How many days are enough for Europe?

You can spend a couple of months exploring Europe and still feel like you have not seen everything. Generally speaking, a two-week Europe trip should be just enough if you are looking to cover its major highlights. However, if you want a comprehensive travel experience within this duration, it is better that you focus on a region or a few countries rather than traveling all over the continent.

Choose a single country or schedule your trip around a handful of cities in different countries. While larger European cities may require three to four days to explore, you can get around smaller destinations in a day or two. Planning your trip around a particular region will cut down your travel time and save your time in transit.

  • What is the best month to visit Iceland?

Given that summer temperatures do not rise much above 16°C, the best time to visit Iceland is between the months of May and September. Gullfoss Waterfall is also at its most impressive at this time of year, and the midnight sun is visible in the country’s north. Travel outside of the summer season and you may find the country’s museums and hiking routes, such as the Laugavegur Trail, closed. However, the period between November to February does have the bonus of being the season of the Northern Lights, and major attractions such as the Blue Lagoon remain open all year round. Find more information here.

  • How do I plan a 15-day trip to Europe?

If you are planning to visit multiple countries, you should prepare a tentative list of destinations you are interested in. If it is your first trip, stick to major cities and cultural centers for the sake of simplicity and convenience. Also, be flexible and optimize your travel time and budget. Be open to changing your itinerary depending on schedules and ticket prices.

  • Is Iceland expensive to visit? How does the credit card system work? Do I need to carry cash in hand?

Iceland is one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit, although there are ways to keep costs down, such as by renting a camper van. Overall, visitors should be looking at a daily per-person budget of between USD 100 and USD 200. Most hotels, restaurants, and shops accept credit cards from major providers, and there are no minimum purchase requirements. Since cards are the preferred method of payment, you should be okay even if you avoid carrying cash completely, although having some for emergencies is always a good idea.

  • What currency do they use in Iceland?

The currency of Iceland is the krona (ISK). It is difficult to exchange your dollars and euros with the Icelandic currencies outside of the country, but easy to do once in the country, both at the airport and in bank branches around the island. USD 1 is equivalent to around ISK 130.
