Honest insights from past guests on our Glaciers Iceland tours

Guests enjoy the wonderful diversity of the Iceland countryside immersed in the unique culture. As always Insight provided comfortable accommodations and took us to great places and good restaurants. Our driver was a pleasure to travel with, our director was knowledgeable and personable. In Reykjavík, the Perlan museum and Flyover Iceland are not to be missed,

The wide variety of natural beauty is truly amazing - waterfalls, lava fields, glaciers, icebergs, geysers, lagoons, mountains, and more. One of a kind country, shouldn't be missed.

Excellent

I had an excellent time being introduced to a new country that has a unique geological history and cool animal life while hanging out with Harley. It was a great way to focus on what we were seeing, learning and sharing and not have to worry about the logistics. I was able to focus on fun and family.

This was our second NatGeo trip and we will be back for more. The outstanding guides, stunning locales, deeply thought-out and planned itineraries, educational component and bonding with other families have made these our favorite family vacations.

It is a great way to see all of Iceland in a short time. You will get to see the land and get to know the history and storytelling of these robust people. has adopted Iceland as her second home. She has given me an appreciation of the culture and people of this rugged land. You can tell that loves this land and knows how to make you enjoy the tells that are being told. This is a trip that you are living from your suitcase I suggest you pack for each day. I put in each baggie a pair of underwear socks and tshirt and use a pair of pants for 2-3 days. Have layers on. I used 3 layers. You can take off a layer. Pack a hat and gloves and water proof coat. Also 2 pairs of walking shoes. My one pair got soaked so I could use the other buy a usb power cord the bus only has usb. The hotels do not have air conditioning and their windows that open are very small. My friend and I were thinking of doing this same itinerary by driving ourselves. I am so glad we did not because we would not have seen all the wonders we saw because the roads are winding and narrow at times so you have to concentrate on the road and not the view. Also the cost of gas, food and lodging in Iceland is expensive compared to going on this trip. our buss driver was fantastic he navigating around Iceland was the best I have ever seen. He got into and out of tight spaces. He also gave us a lesson in his language everyday. loves Iceland and you can tell by her enthusiasm and knowledge. This is her second home Hotels - Iceland does not have air conditioning anywhere. Their windows are tiny. There was just one hotel I did not like. We stayed there 2 nights you could not shut off the heat and my bathroom flooded when I used the shower. The shower drain looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The garbage that came it! The one thing I need Insight to realize is that people have allergies Do not ask people to bring their perfumes and cologne with them. Also the hotels should be using detergents that are free and clear of scents. My friend has asthma attacks from these scents. I loved this itinerary. It gave me the best look into Iceland the land and people I would recommend it to anyone and have done so already

Tips for Iceland Glacier Tours

  • Plan your Iceland visit during the peak season for glacier hiking, which spans from May to September. During this time, the weather is milder, and the longer daylight hours enhance the overall experience.
  • Keep in mind that the minimum age for glacier tours in Iceland is typically eight years, but it may vary depending on the duration and difficulty of the tour.
  • Check the glacier tour descriptions carefully to choose a glacier hike that matches your experience and fitness level.
  • Pack appropriate gear, including gloves, especially for colder months and ice-climbing tours. Ski gloves are ideal for optimal protection and warmth.
  • Some glaciers, like the Hofsjökull, are accessible only during the summer months, so plan accordingly.
  • Due to the popularity of glacier tours in Iceland, particularly during the summer season, it is recommended to book your tour well in advance to secure your spot.
