Catania Tours in Spring

The Insight chosen restaurants were not very good. Not what we would typically have on these tours. This is our fifth tour. One hotel was hot, but the others were fine. Was disappointed in Palermo. The tour director gave great advice on places to see in our free time and was very nice. Wish we saw less touristy places and more places like Grottle. That was the only place there weren’t multiple tours going on at the same time.

From beautiful views, to interesting people to fantastic foods and history galore, it was the best trip ever! We witness history with the Pope being named and seeing the Knights Templar en masse.

Itinerary is very fast paced. We have done several tours in the past so we weren't surprised about the pace but those who haven't done tours should keep this in mind. We did sign up for all the optional excursions which meant there was minimal free time. However, we did see a lot in a short period of time. There wasn't as much walking compared to other tours which was good for the elder travelers. Our tour Director was excellent, he was very knowledgeable & funny. We appreciated his humorous stories about the Sicilian culture.

This was a wonderful tour! Most of the hotels included a 2-night stay so the trip was more relaxes than some. Unlike mainland Italy, there we were rarely in crowds, and the other tourist were speaking Italian. The tour exposed us to the different culture and heritage of Sicily including why many Sicilians migrated to the US. The Make Travel Matter optional tours were great and the Sicilian food was a real treat.

Loved learning about the history of Sicily as we viewed ancient ruins. Also loved meeting different people and learning how they live - visiting herb gardens and wineries and lemon groves. Loved hearing their stories. Our experiences were diverse. Great trip! Our Tour Director was fabulous!

It was a great itinerary that covered a lot of ground. Especially enjoyed Palermo. Would suggest getting in two days early to see the historical areas in the city not covered by this trip. Really worth it. Food was great! The add-ons were worth it!! History of the island is mind boggling as well as the workmanship of the mosaics in the churches. A meld of many different cultures. It exceeded my expectations!
