Catania: Stroll around the ancient Sicilian port at the foot of Mount Etna. See the Piazza Stesicoro and the Baroque and Renaissance buildings of Via dei Crociferi.
Taormina: Greek and Roman ruins. Sun-drenched beaches. Epic Italian food. There’s so much to do in this seaside town, you’ll never want to leave.
Noto: Float around this opulent Sicilian city, taking in the Baroque architecture and panoramic views as you go.
Agrigento: Explore the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, a UNESCO-listed site featuring some of the world's most treasured Greek art and architecture.
It was good but the add ons were not worth the price at all. They were way over priced. The walking mafia tour was £30 and didn’t explain anything and didn’t really take us anywhere.
Sicily is an absolutely stunning destination - definitely recommend this trip for someone who has already seen the main cities in Italy and wants an easy way to get around the island. was an amazing tour manager who I wish I could have every trip and our driver was a legend too. The only two criticisms would be the night in Catania - it wasn’t really worth staying and it felt unsafe at times. An extra night in Taormina would be better. The second being that the hotel in Palermo was quite disgusting and dirty.
It started off great but the last hotel really let it down. There was *** in the sink! I don't think the anti-mafia tour was worth it either. To be fair, the rest was quite good and it would have been four star otherwise.
This is a perfect trip to do something more in-depth than other Contikis. This trip is modular, and the Real Sicily component is the last part of the trip, so there may be people from early components. The pace was relatively laid-back, and you had ample time to explore each town/city. The included and add-on experiences were great (my favourite was the boat cruise in Cefalu, where we got to swim off the boats at sunset). The farewell dinner was quite overpriced for the quality of the food we received (we were told the main was going to be lamb- it was a quarter of a hamburger patty sliced up). The quality of the hotels was of a higher standard than other Contikis I've done and they were generally in central, convenient locations. Our trip manager was terrific, provided plenty of recommendations, and was friendly and approachable.
It was not good value for money, with the inclusions or the add ons. The accommodation was sometimes 40 minutes away from the city so "free time" always had a tight deadline for the bus. Palermo was dangerous at night and I felt uncomfortable walking around alone even during the day.
Sicily comes alive on this spirited 8-day adventure, created especially for young adults hungry for authentic experiences. Start in Catania and journey to the hillside allure of Taormina, where you’ll join a cooking class and descend Mt. Etna’s volcanic slopes. Explore UNESCO sites, relax on pristine beaches, and wander Palermo’s vibrant streets, sampling some of Italy’s best food along the way. With all the logistics sorted—accommodation, meals, and transport—you’re free to savor every sight and flavor. The USP: a tour package that unlocks the real Sicily, blending hands-on activities with ancient heritage and culinary delights.
