Summit Mera Peak, the most sought-after trekking peak in Nepal
Trek through highland Sherpa villages enjoying magnificent views of the Himalayas
See amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu & Makalu mountains from Mera's summit
Take your mountaineering ambitions to new heights on the "Summit Mera Peak" tour, an 18-day expedition designed for young adults and experienced adventurers. Journey from Kathmandu to the remote valleys south of Everest, gradually ascending through villages like Pangkoma and Khare to the high camp at 5,200 meters.
Standing at 6,461 meters, Mera Peak is Nepal’s highest trekking peak, offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga from its summit. The route is physically demanding but technically accessible, with a pre-summit training program and expert guides equipped with comprehensive safety gear.
The true highlight of this trekking trip is the rare opportunity to achieve a Himalayan summit without requiring advanced climbing skills—opening the door to an epic accomplishment for both novice and seasoned mountaineers alike. If you’re seeking a tour package that delivers both challenge and reward, this is your call to adventure.
We had a very good time. Guide and porters were very friendly and supportive and ensured that everything worked well. The changing scenery from Lukla to the Mera Peak is amazing.
I did the Mera Peak trekking over 15 days, organized by local tour specialists. Mr. Krishna Subedi (Kris) is the manager of the organization. He is a very good co-ordinator, puts you immediately on whatsapp when you arrive, and keeps following up your trekking and summit experience. When there were small problems, he immediately took action and contacted the right people. My guide Mr. Neyma Sherpa was also very helpfull and an excellent guide. The trek itself was very enjoyable. The Tea houses were very good and they were very flexible when i prefered another teahouse than the one they already booked. A few extra things to keep in mind: - The month May used to be the best month for Mera Peak but we had a lot of rain... May-be April or October is becoming better now... - Listen to your guide at all times and don't go up to fast. The trekking is also about acclimatizing. Sometimes you need that extra day at 4000m... - Take a portable solar panel with you and a power bank. (min 12W, 20W is better). It will pay itself back. You pay a lot in the teahouses to get your phone charged (a lot of them also use solar power). - I personally prefer not to rent climbing gear but to take my own. I always hike and climb with the same pair of C boots with semi-automatic crampons. My C boots are big enough to wear 2 pair of socks if necessary. My smartwhool socks were warm enough on the summit day (-10 to -15 °C) - Take a porter. They are not expensive and your hiking comfort will increase a lot. - Don't forget to use sunscreen, especially on the summit day when you leave at 2 am in the dark and you're not thinking about the sun at that time. - Make sure you are in excellent physical shape. After the summit, you will need 3 more days to get to Lukla.
MERA PEAK trek was organised by the local operator. Mr. Krishna Subedi (MD ) was extremely helpful. Our guide Mr. Mingma Sherpa was excellent guide. The trek was strenuous but enjoyable. The selection of Tea houses by the operator were excellent . I highly recommend this agency.
The trek to Mera Peak is bit strenuous but enjoyable. The biggest challenge is weather and sudden change of climate. We had a cancelled flight on day 1, due to poor visibility . We then asked our tour operator to book helicopter to travel to lukla. The local operator did exceptionally well in handling the situation and our,s was the only heli to leave kathmandu for lukla that day. Thanks to Mr Krishna Subedi for his great service and personal care through out our tours. The trek started from lukla with guide Mingma Sherpa and porter umesh rai. Both of them were gem of the person. We owe much of our success to these guides and porters. The trek was good but we did encountered misty and heavy weather coupled with steep hike ascend and decends for first 4 days. then we reached Kothe, nice valley and very picturesque place. we stayed at Lama Lodge, managed by lady called Ms Diky . I think this is the best lodge/home stay during the whole trek. Trek from here was bit easy upto Khare. then come difficult paart of trek, extreme cold, walking over snow and altitude issues. we did well , as a first time to scale over 6k meters and did not have any altitude sickness. It was tough trek but at end we enjoyed it and loving it to share our joy with every one.
Not an easy but a very rewarding climb. What we liked most about the trip were the diverse environment from lush rainforest to high altitude glaciers; remote vilages/monasteries; and a feel of an Himalayan expedition.
Absolutely incredible! A trek through winding trails through jungles, bamboo forests, to the rocky valley floor, and up to the scree fields and Mera Glacier. Everyday held new scenic views, picturesque landscapes, and challenges. Highly reccomend to any and all wishing for a challenging but very possible summit opportunity and amazing trekking.
Mera Peak climb offers the best view of the Mt Everest and other mountains around. Till Khare, the trek moves along the valleys. After Base Camp, mountaineering boots and crampons are must. Though it is quite hard from there on, the scene of huge mountains around will refresh anyone. On good days, we can see even Kanchenjunga on the distance. Basic climbing training is done at Khare Camp.
I have been associated with Mr Khum Subedi and Chris since 2009 . I first did Mera peak with them in 2009 and ever since have done multiple treks with them. The service and attention to detail is brilliant . They are a very old and established company in Nepal and one can trust them completely for not only organizing a good trip but also in case of a emergency . The Experience Mr Khum has in this industry is unmatchable to most other new agencies !
