Itinerary

Step into the heart of Andalucía and experience the magic of Spain's white villages on the Ronda and the Sierra de Grazalema walking tour. This eight-day, self-guided trip invites experienced travelers and seniors to immerse themselves in the region’s Moorish heritage and dramatic mountain scenery, balancing easy physical activity with rich cultural discovery.

Starting and ending in the historic town of Ronda, you'll traverse picturesque landscapes dotted with olive groves, cork oak woods, and the rare Spanish silver fir. The route winds through charming villages like Grazalema and Benaoján, where time seems to slow and traditional life thrives amidst stunning limestone formations and deep gorges home to soaring vultures. Each day offers a delightful blend of gentle walks and opportunities to savor local specialties—perhaps a midday tapas feast on a sunlit terrace.

Along the way, the history of disputed borders and ancient kingdoms comes alive in the 'pueblos blancos'—towns with evocative Moorish names such as Benaocaz and Jimera del Ibar. The journey culminates in Ronda, renowned for its breathtaking gorge and vibrant blend of Moorish and European architecture.

What sets this tour package apart is its focus on authentic Andalusian culture and easy-paced exploration, perfect for those who appreciate scenic walks paired with culinary delights and historical intrigue. With accommodations, meals, and transport all arranged, you’re free to soak in the region’s beauty and charm at your leisure.

What a fabulous week we had walking in Andalucía, Spain in and around the National Park of Grazalema. Everything worked perfectly: from collection at the train station, great accommodation, transference of baggage and taxi collection between villages. Our hosts where helpful and the accommodation of an excellent standard. And then there was the walk - sublime! A diverse range of tracks through magnificent landscapes, over rocky mountains, across high plains, along paths lined with wild flowers taller than me, and beside rivers. As we were walking in June, there were no other walkers, so if you are planning to walk and socialise, pick a cooler time of year. Would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Had a wonderful walking experience. They were very organized and we had no issues with transfers or sorting accommodation. Accommodation was excellent. Some challenges with the app and its current status but we managed to sort those out on the fly.

We had the good fortune to arrive the week after Easter following the rainy spring. The whole area was covered in a stunning array of wildflowers. The hikes were great - not too much or too little and the accommodations just perfect!
