For travelers drawn to spiritual heritage, Religious Portugal is a two-day art and architecture trip from Lisbon to Fatima—Portugal’s heart of Christian faith. Enjoy scenic stops in charming villages like Obidos and Nazare, savor authentic Portuguese cuisine in Alcobaca, and take part in the vibrant spiritual life of Fatima, attending mass or exploring its famed landmarks. This group tour’s highlight: an expertly guided pilgrimage blending religious significance, local gastronomy, and picturesque villages in just a short escape.
Your first day begins with a pick-up at Marques de Pombal Square in Lisbon, at 8:30 hrs. We recommend to arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the indicated time. We then drive northwards and arrive at our first point of visit: the beautiful walled town of Obidos, with its picturesque streets and the Pousada do Castelo. We then move onto Alcobaca to visit the 12th century landmark with the tombs of D. Pedro and Ines de Castro. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and then head to Nazare, the most colorful of Portuguese fishing villages. In the afternoon, we visit the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece in the gothic style and classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. Continue your journey until you reach Fatima.
Overnight in Fatima area hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Lunch included.
After breakfast at the hotel, the day is free for activities of personal nature in Fatima, a centre of the Christian Faith and a world pilgrimage site. Visit the church where the tombstones of Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco are, as well as the Chapel of Apparitions at the heart of the shrine. There is also time to attend mass. At the end of the day, we return to Lisbon through this colourful farming region. Late in the afternoon, you will be dropped off at the indicated location.
Breakfast included.
Obidos: This walled town will make you go back in time while marvelling at its Porta de Vila and charming white houses with terracotta tile roofs.
Fatima: This fascinating religious pilgrimage spot welcomes up to six million visitors every.
Nazare: Considered one of the most typical villages in the country, Nazare is a lovely place facing a beautiful sandy beach.
