Next visit the sleepy town of Pinhao, situated at the scenic confluence of Douro and Pinhao Rivers, it is known for its terraced vineyards. You'll have the chance to explore Vila Real, a city rich in heritage and tradition. Sail to the quaint little villages of Barca D’ Alva and Pocinho on the northern Spanish border where you will have an opportunity to visit the 16th Century Castelo Rodrigo, one of the historical parishes of Portugal. Guillia put a great self-drive tour together for us and Susana looked after us as we travelled. (Even when we got lost) The car and accommodation was good and the guides patient and informative.
