We can highly recommend doing this Trek. It is a tough hiking trek (since you will be at very high altitudes for multiple days in a row) but the views make up for it - the landscape is stunning. Our Guide (Sanchaman Rai) explained a lot and did his best so that we felt always safe and secure. When we could not finish the first pass (Kongma La) - Sanchaman adjusted our plan so that we could do the other two passes, even though we lost a day. All in all it was a great trek with a great tour agency. (Hint: If you think about doing the Trek in less than 16Days - it may be possible, but make sure that you acclimatize correctly otherwise you will not enjoy the experience :-). In our opinion 16 Days is the perfekt amount of time).
Sudip our guide was amazing, he was very knowledgable about everything. Def recommend this tour agency and Sudip to be your guide. I will never forget my journey with Sudib by my side.
I recently completed the Three High Passes trek with Dukpa Tamang. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering coming to Nepal for a trek. I couldn't have been happier with my guide for the two-week trek, Dukpa. Dukpa is a ton of fun and a total machine (never gets cold, tired, hungry). He made a genuine effort to make sure I had everything I needed while we trekked together and I had such a great time with him over the two weeks. Safety was his biggest focus and he made sure that I avoided making common mistakes that other trekkers ended up making along the way(and thus, having to end their trips early). We had a lot of time together and Dukpa made even the most challenging parts of the trip (there were a lot) fun and entertaining! Dukpa knows a TON about the Three Passes trek which was nice to have not only for questions but for route planning (this is not a paved road from place to place...important to have someone experienced like Dukpa as the routes change from month-to-month/year-to-year).
My girlfriend and I did the Everest Three High Passes Trek in May 2017. We couldn't be happier that we booked with this operator. The trek itself is indeed very challenging, but if you prepare well and are in good physical and mental condition, you will be able to do it. It is extremely rewarding to reach the passes, and the scenery is remarkable. It's amongst the best things we've seen in our lives! Just bear in mind that nights in lodges are cold and not extremely comfortable, but all the effort is definitely worth it. We are looking forward for another opportunity to go back to Nepal!
I did the Everest base camp via Chola Pass with this local tour operator and it had been a wonderful experience! First, the owner Chhatra has been very responsive and knowledgable in answering my questions and arranging my booking. He was a guide before and therefore he knows the mountain very well which makes him a perfect person to talk to if you have any doubts in your mind. Second, my guide Keshab and Dhana are wonderful. They literally made this trip a hassle free for me. Keshab is very experienced in taking care of a group and caring towards everyone's condition. He is an amazing guide and we all like him a lot. Dhana is my guide and he has one of the most caring and sweet personalities I have ever seen. He would carry my backpack and encourage me to keep going whenever I feel exhausted in the mountain. I wouldn't be able to complete the trek without Keshab and Dhana. The supporting guide Dulip and our porters are all fantastic as well. Last but no least, the company takes care of everything. They prepare fruit every night (so far we are the only group who get fresh fruit at the base camp), measure our blood oxygen level, help us change our flights in Lukla, etc. Everyone of them are super helpful and wants you to have a wonderful memory. They respect the mountain and the environment. I will have no doubts in recommending this operator to anyone who wants to go on a trek in Nepal.
People say treking in Nepal is something you wont forget. They are right, from the first day u was blown away by the mountains and the people. The true highlight was the amazing group of friends I made and guides we had. Ramm and Dukpa made sure every aspect was taken care of. From the teahouses to pushing us up that last little stretch of mountian. I know that without them there would not have been so much laughter and fun. I cannot reccomend them enough
The three passes Everest trek is a great way of getting to know the different valleys around the Everest area: Khumbu, Chhukung, Thame... The scenery is outstanding and the trek is physically demanding enough for those who want a bit of a challenge.
I went with Lakpa Sherpa on the Everest Three High passes Trek in December 2016. From the beginning of organizing the adventure till finishing the trek I always was supported. In every step the tour operator helped me in finding the best option. On the trek everything was organized and I always felt convenient so that I could pay my full attention on the surrounding and challenge I had in front of me. With Lakpa Sherpa I had a guide, or I can say friend with me, who made the trip even better!! He was the perfect expert on the trek and a good talking partner in the evenings. With him I experienced the real Nepal, I think. So all in all a great adventure. One advice: Buy proper micro spikes !!
As part of a group trek, I did the Everest Base Camp & 3 Passes (Kongma La, Cho La, Renjo La) trek this Apr 2016, spanning around 3 weeks. This was a challenging and strenuous high altitude trek with all 3 passes above 18,000 ft, EBC at 17,500 ft and Kala Patthar at 18,500 ft. Chhatra Karki, who runs a local tour agency, carried out the entire planning and logistics for this trek. Chhatra is extremely knowledgeable about the routes on this trek and was very responsive, detailed, helpful and flexible right from the first interaction we had till much after completing the trek. The trek guides and porters he provided were strong & competent, had a focus on safety, were polite and helpful and most of them had prior experience trekking these routes. Boarding, lodging and food was excellent throughout the trek relative to the tea house facilities available on these routes. Chhatras information and advice around weather conditions, altitude sickness, safety, health, water & food aspects were very useful. Later during the trek as we improvised on the itinerary to save time, Chhatra responded flexibly (and patiently), at short notice, in re-booking flights, boarding & lodging to accommodate our changes. The trek in itself, for the most part, comprised of long 5-8 hour walks over 15000 ft, through steep inclines, snowy & icy paths, huge glaciers, moraine, scree and pretty cold conditions. These challenges, however, were well rewarded with magnificent views of the highest Himalayan ranges, stunning landscapes, mesmerizing alpine lakes, unique flora & fauna, serene monasteries, beautiful countryside, great food and lovely local people. All in all a truly memorable trek! As regards areas for improvement, some of the trek guides could develop deeper knowledge about the culture and history of the local places and people on these routes that would add to enriching the overall experience. Kumar Jirel, one of the trekking guides, while competent, could develop a bit more empathy for client trekkers not as experienced.
Last spring I did a 18 days trek in Sagarmatha National Park with my husband (30 years old) and my parents (58 and 65) - my best trekking experience ever! I highly recommend this trek, a beautiful and challenging one called the Three High Passes Trek. This was my second time in Nepal. The first time I was with another trekking company and this one was definitely much better although the trek costed exactly the same price. Before the trek, Chhatra was very helpful and responsive, he gave us great advice to help us choose the trek and the equipment. Then he took care of everything very efficiently for us, including the trek permit and the hotel reservation in Kathmandu where he made sure we had the best rooms. The trek was wonderful, beautiful landscapes and people and excellent accomodation. Many of the owners of the lodges were good friends of our guide so there was also a nice and fun atmosphere. Our guide Rajesh was very friendly but also serious and responsible and he knew everything about the area. He spoke excellent English and some French too :) He told us a lot of interesting stories and we learned a lot about the Sherpa culture and Nepal in general thanks to him. Our porters, Man and Chhitra, were incredibly nice, friendly and helpful, they understood English well and we had an excellent time with them. Rajesh was very flexible and clever. When we arrived at EBC, my parents were very tired, they found the trek too challenging, had altitude sickness and didn't feel like crossing the remaining high passes. Instead of having the four of us go down together, Rajesh proposed an alternative that suited everyone: my parents went down with one of the porters while my husband and I continued and did the whole trek. The four of us were extremely pleased with our experience and if we come back to Nepal for a trek we will definitely choose them.
