Country roads allow you to appreciate the cultural diversity of Croatia but also to enjoy the stunning beauty of these lands. The pace of the itinerary is moderate and the travel director as well the dirver are world class hosts.
Country roads of Croatia was a wonderful trip to experience the true lifestyle of Croatia culture and people. our tour guide was full of information and is a enthusiastic person which made the trip great
I enjoyed the scenery and walks at the different places we stayed. However, more free time to explore a place would have made it more relaxed and enjoyable. The disappointment for me was the food. Family run restaurants with a set menu not for me. I would have preferred two or 3 options to choose from. Also, a variety of food....not just the stewed meats. I particularly like fresh food and found both the meat and vegetables absolutely overcooked. Our guide was excellent. Her knowledge was excellent and she told some wonderful stories. The coach was always fresh and clean but I found the seats uncomfortable as the backs of the seats lean backwards slightly which is not good for posture. A small cushion would have made it more comfortable. Many of us made make shift cushions using our jumpers and jackets.
More individual time at locations of choice would be appropriate Repetition with regard to presentation at some of the destinations Dinners at local homes disappointing, venues nice but food presented mediocre Pressured into signing up to additional OPTIONS which personally I considered sufficient detailed information was not provided Comfortable coach, however for longer journeys maybe a “back cushion” may be appropriate, great Driver and Guide
It covers all interesting parts of Croatia. Although it is a pack/unpack tour but it is worth it, specially when you get back home and remember the journey.
It is varied, covering both coastal and inland towns. Well paced with enough free time to do some museums that are not included.
The itinerary is perfect. Croatia is very beautiful and picturesque. The people are very welcoming. Local food and drinks are delicious.
It was a very good tour. Good accommodation, fantastic tour leader and driver. Just one small point, and it's not major, but it was rated as a "difficulty " 2. There were SOME situations where I would question this, for example the Dubrovnik old city climb. This was much harder than a "2" rating. Unfortunately with my health issue, I could not do it and there were others also. There were a couple of these activities and I just want to advise that maybe the rating for this should be 3. Just my thoughts. Overall though, a fabulous and interesting tour.
The tour is well organised and informatiion on the daily events on the WhatsApp. The tour director was very friendly and approachable. We have a wonderful time together as though we have known each other despite is our first meeting
Fabulous beautiful country, fortunate to have had great company for tours, mostly aussies, Singaporeans and couple of from States. Was very friendly company and got along very well, Even had a few invitations to their country and homes! We reciprocated also. Tour coordinator was exceptional and she always went above her duties to make us comfortable. Had an excellent coach driver through out the trip. The selection of dinner locations and the quality of the cuisine was great.. Wish and hope we could duplicate this again with the same group somewhere else. Thank you and Chandramohans
The itinerary, allows you to get to know the country of Croatia better especially if you are visiting for the first time, while you seat in confort and enjoy the picturesque views.
Tina was a fantastic tour guide and made the trip with her organisational skills and communication.
We enjoyed the fact that we spent 2 nights at most locations. This made it easier to relax as well as joining the organised extra tours that we could opt into. The places we explored were stunning.
The sites and scenery were great giving a good overview of rural areas as well as major sites.
Great stops at park, ruins, cave and beaches. Very very good.
Good blend of excellent local guides providing interesting details in a low key manner with alone time to explore interests of yours. Great bus driver with plenty of leg room and adjust seats so everyone gets front, back and both sides. Saves so much time as locals and tour guide know the best places to go and leaving the drive on the narrow winding roads so much more relaxing than having to manage.
It was great an had it very organized
Packed with enriching, fun, informative and memorable experiences! Very busy itinerary if you participate in Optionals. Perfect amount of free time to explore on your own in quaint areas with picturesque and breathing scenery everywhere. Requires general fitness as the topography is anything but flat. Plan for 10,000+ steps per day. Exceptional itinerary, including the top rated highlights of the country.
Our tour covered 1,200 miles in two weeks. We saw some beautiful places, many we never would have thought of traveling to, if we had not been on the tour.
Great pace comfortable buses excellent itinerary. Communication to guests always on point, hotels very comfortable. Travel director exceptional!! looked out for every guest with the utmost regard. She shared the fun and knowledge of the Croatian Countryside. Her timing to talk and rest was impeccable and her skills are the best we have come across.
It is such a beautiful trip through Croatia starting from Zagreb to Dubrovnik including 2 amazing islands , Hvar & Korcula. What isn’t to love about Croatia, a picture postcard everywhere you look.
It was a great way to see what Croatia has to offer. The itinerary allowed enough time to explore this beautiful country.
as with the other Insight Vacations trips I've taken, I really feel like I've really seen the country. moving about on the motor coach allows us to see the coast, inland, mountains, cities, towns, etc. there are optional excursions for different interests and different tastes. and you still have some down time.
I appreciated the pace of the tour, spending two nights in the majority of locations and three at Dubrovnik. The late start mornings were also appreciated. We visited all the major areas I wanted to except for Bled in Slovenia. Staying on the islands of Hvar and Korcula was an added bonus. Even the free days were good because our hotels were situated in areas where we could easily explore historical areas on our own if we wished.
This trip is highly recommended. If you love nature, beaches and boat rides. So much gorgeous islands and spots to explore
It was so breath taking, so much nature from water falls to beaches and lush greenery.
A very well planned itinerary from inland to the coast. Excellent Tour Director and Driver. We visited all the main attractions and had very good local tour guides.
Very excellent itinerary as all the places are stunning and have their own distinct charm and history, but perhaps Lake Bled should have been included and less time in Zagreb.
2 weeks is a little too long. Would suggest 10 days
Great tour but exhausting in 100+ temperatures. Many steep hills on crumbling stone walkways. Not good for people not in shape to do the many walks in caves, national parks, and uphill walks in route to restaurants & sights. Hotels were good & located in convenient locations. Insight bus was great & comfortable but not able to charge cell phones on bus this time.
I wish there was less time at Roman ruins in Pula. And more time in the next town. Also, i wish we'd stayed in Split.
The tour was wonderful overall, and covered territory that we would not have been able to travel easily on our own. The hotels we stayed at were all extremely good, to exceptional. The bus was excellent, and the number of travellers was also very good - not too many in the group. The itinerary was extensive and, although I thought that having all the optional tours was costly and not sufficiently inclusive, it was actually useful to us, for this tour. We enjoyed the variety, but wished we had taken a tour earlier in the year, as it was too hot for us, in June (temperatures over 30 degrees every day). It was too warm to be wandering around the town centres for so long, in our free time. As it was, it meant that we didn't participate in as many of the activities as we would have otherwise done. The other issue we had was that we were unwell for some of the tour, which also caused us to limit our involvement in a number of optional activities. So, it was easier to opt out of such activities than having to participate because we were tied to an itinerary. It was helpful, as well, that there were a number of two night stays, which enabled us to rest a little in between some lengthy bus trip days.
We can’t stop telling our friends about our time in Croatia. The tour director went above and beyond with a great sense of humor and kindness. The accommodations were lovely. The whole experience especially because of our sweet fellow travelers was a pleasure!
Just enough guided to get to know the areas and learn. The rest of the time you can relax and explore. The hotels were perfect as were the meals.
great to see inland unesco sites, port cities and islands food included was buffets that stunk - usually cold and dried out
The itinerary for our recent trip, Country Roads of Croatia, was very comprehensive. We appreciated that we could see all the highlights of this wonderful country in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our Tour Director, went above and beyond to ensure that we saw all the highlights of this wonderful country. We would definitely give her a 10/10. We would highly recommend this trip to those who are considering exploring all aspects of beautiful Croatia.
Good mixture of coast and interior. Liked ending with the coast and starting with Zagreb, caves, and Plitvice Nat. Park. Enjoyed the little extra of the oyster and mussel farm and having wine and snacks on the floating picnic area.
We loved seeing Croatia through the eyes of her people, it is such a beautiful country, so clean, safe and welcoming. We had great choices and personal experiences with our guides, townspeople, and others in our tour group. It was an amazing experience and great way to see Croatia.
An excellent tour. We loved seeing the whole country from end to end not only the islands. We loved hosting each island staying a couple of night. The hotels were excellent along with our fabulous driver and tour guide who was experienced and professional. One thing we really loved was pickup and drop off of our luggage each day. Would highly recommend this tour and the activities that go with it.
Itinerary was Zagreb to Dubrovnik, a great journey, varying culture, countryside and history.
We very much enjoyed the bus on this trip and the daily itineraries. The views in the hotel rooms were disappointing looking at a wall or alley. Maybe give option to upgrade rooms. AC was broken in 2 of our hotel rooms. Too many subpar buffets. Fellow Insight travelers said they had never had so many dinner buffets on previous Insight trips. We paid $1000 for all extra dinners at Konobas. We did not enjoy the food and felt very rushed. It was a huge waste of money. We would have skipped Montenegro as it was too rushed. We would possibly consider another Insight if dining options changed. We would never do the optional offerings again. $1000 was a lot of money for subpar experiences. We will be more careful choosing our travel vendor, as there are numerous quality ones to choose from.
Croatia is absolutely gorgeous! There are many different cities and sites to see, from the caves, sea organ, park, museums, ancient landmarks and beautiful blue water. The local people are friendly and eager to help. I would love to go again! Sarah
This trip had an excellent and well organized guide and driver. The stops were well worth it for the scenery and culture, especially the scenery. The hotels were comfortable and well situated. Although , as in many European hotels the shower-tubs were quite slippery and hard to get into with very high sides.
Its varied, distances not too far apart and has plenty of optional experiences. The hotels were very good although all but one did not have sea views.
It’s an amazing country. We went to beautiful places and had time to enjoy each location.
Well planned, great tour director ,,good coverage of country, great pace, excellent accommodations ,great options.
Well structured and managed. Easy pace for seniors.
Varied, visited prominent places and smaller places. Accommodation in or near the centres, for easy on foot access and opportunities for personal exploring.
Fabulous itinerary got to see a lot of the country not rushed lovely hotels and food. fa blouse dude and genuinely nice man
Takes in all the sights and points of interest.Guides are very informed about all areas
Very well organised
Fantastic in all regards on Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro. Our tour Insight Vacation Tour Director was a big reason why this trip was so fantastic from his narrative of incredible history, laughs, good food and stunning natural landscapes from caves, mountains, ocean and lakes it was a dream vacation
It was very versatile, showed the best part of this beautiful country. One of the reasons I chose this trip was because it included some islands and short boat trips also the length of the trip. It allowed for some free time and stay in places for more than one day.
The itinerary covers the country fully but could perhaps benefit from more free time. The ferry trip to Hvar was cumbersome and since we also spent time on the island of Korcula, perhaps more time could have been spent in Split instead of Hvar. Nevertheless, Croatia is a beautiful country and the tour enables participants to fully appreciate this.
Country Roads of Croatia was a great tour. The pace was easy, most of the meals on the optional extra excursions were ok, but some were with same kind of food. Our your leader Marty was exceptional in making sure the tour flowed smoothly & without any problems.
Excellent tour of Croatia. Covered all the main sights from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. As it was a 13-day tour there were 2 nights in most places (with 3 in Dubrovnik). The pace of the tour was appropriate, with plenty of time to self-explore the various towns and no really early starts. The experiences (optional and included) were excellent, and most people on the tour participated in them. The travel director and coach driver were excellent. We loved it and would recommend highly.
Good cities and islands to visit. But not enough time to enjoy. It local guide and then maybe an hour or hour and a half to get lunch and sight see. Just to rushed.
Very well run tour. Stunning scenery. Also helped to have good weather.
The itinerary covered the most beautiful and famous of the many sights in this area.
I was disappointed in the excursions and the included dinners were mostly hotel buffets. The restaurants that were included in both were not very good either. A limited choice in menu options.
It covered all highlights places
Excellent range of attractions, destinations and experiences. High standard accommodation, smooth organisation, luxury coach and good interaction with guests. Tour Director is one of the best with high level people and organization skills.
The itinerary was great! We saw something different every day. The visit to Postojna Caves was amazing. Plitvice Lakes National Park was another amazing adventure. Walking so close to the waterfalls was exciting. The views of the towns and the countryside was just incredible. It was a great vacation.
Great itinerary, amazing places to visit, very comfortable hotel, fantastic food....and the most important very professional and friendly Tour Director!
It was a great experience. We had a very good tour guide and coach driver and we saw places that we would not have seen if we had gone out on our own.
A well planned itinerary that gave a good overview of Croatia and highlighted the beauty of the coastline as well as the food, wine and culture of the region.
is magic. She teased out so many special morsels making everyday special. Her intimate knowledge of the country, people and culture made Croatia shine. I feel I saw, experienced and ate most of Croatia. What a gorgeous country.! And our driver was fabulous! The whole experience was nearly flawless except one lumpy bed.
It was perfectly balanced with excellent tours and personal time to do things on your own. The tours where interesting and very educational. I loved every one of them.
Expect to be pleasantly surprised. It’s nothing I expected.
Great tour director & excellent bus driver! Great itinerary and met so many local people who were very friendly. Excellent dining experiences. First class hotels. Insight does an excellent tour with very knowledgeable staff.
Great cultural insight
This is a great tour, covering some of the best scenery in the world. The tour guide gives the right amount of commentary as we drive around the country in the hands of a very competent driver in a very comfortable coach. Great for talker people as there is lots of leg room. The locations are perfect and the concentration is on local products and culture. It’s a mix of fast paced and relaxed so it works for everyone. Sit back and relax or take the optional extras and fill your days.
Excellent pace and the scenery was truly breathtaking. The guide was so informative.
Great. It was quite varied and interesting. Really enjoyed the local meet and greets with lunch. Always good to have some free time around the hotel to recover. Overall a good balance.
This tour was likely the best way to visit Croatia
You misrepresent how long you spend on the bus.
Great itinerary covering different cities from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. Sufficient free time periods included to explore at leisure. Excellent local guides.
A comprehensive tour that included the highlights of Croatia. This trip gave insight into the way the Croatians lived, worked and played. It was a pleasure to be part of this journey, getting to experience the culture.
It's a beautiful country friendly people lot's of history walkable locations for hotels comfotable hotels
The itinerary was excellent, we saw Croatia from top to bottom with a couple of side trips to Slovenia and Montenegro too. Pace was just right with only a couple of one night stays. The amount of steep hills and frequent steps to walk up were a challenge for many though (hard for people with heart or leg problems or older passengers). Our tour director was brilliant- did everything he could to ensure everyone had a great experience and amazed us all with his knowledge of history from Roman times through to the more recent wars in the area. Our driver also deserved a medal navigating those narrow, windy streets in that coach. The hotels were mostly very good (one had no hot water) and the trips to the Plitivic falls, the caves, and Montenegro were highlights. Couple of the optional dinners were not as good as hoped given the cost. Overall though a fabulous tour of Croatia.
Our tour director was extremely knowledgeable, I’m not big on history but he even got me interested. Coach was immaculate and always felt safe with our driver. We weren’t rushed and were given lots of options
Too many stops. Great itinerary, but a little less hectic pace eill make it more enjoyable
New perspective on Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro. is a Jewel!!! Best guide ever.. You can easily see how personable he is. Every day, while on bus, he stopped to personally talk to each person.
The cave in Slovenia and visit to the oyster farm are the highlights of the trip. Other than these, its usually small towns along the sea and old towns. In one of the optional, the dinner for fish is only 1/2. It seems a bit expensive. The boat we took, there is no life jackets though on the celebration dinner evening, the boat we took has life jackets but only a few and not in sight. i think this safety measure is crucial though nothing happens for a long time, it will be too late if something happens!
1. The sights and sceneries were mostly good 2. Some hotes esp at Opatja were poor. Air-con didn't work well resulting in poor ventilation and sleep 3. Optionals take us to interesting places but the meals were often pathetic 4. Too many "local experts"
Spent a lot of time in the bus but historical sites were good. Less time in museums with local guides and more time to wander at leisure is recommended
Croatia is a friendly and beautiful country..English is spoken by nearly all its citizens, making it easy to communicate with its citizens..Its history and cultural influences are significant and interesting. As for the itinerary , the hotels on this tour were excellent..The motorcoach was comfortable our driver excellent, and the services were very very good..I was a bit disappointed in the pricing for some the optional dinners, as I felt it was at an elevated cost for less than premium cuts of beef or fish or vegetable selection..The optional tours with local guides were good as well. I would recommend that all tour directors utilize the video screens available in the motorcoach to educate guests about the city or port we are travelling to and even have a canned power point presentation on variety of subjects ..It would make the time go by a bit easier..On our previous tours with Insight, this was done but not on the this tour, with our tour director..Most of her comments and instructions were not very clear and her screen shots distributed on What's App were more like drafts of a school report with lots of penciled cross outs, etc and not very professional. She may need some training in this regard. Finally, I wished to leave our gratuity as a charge on my credit card..Judith told me I couldn't , and that she turned in the machine to the office, which I knew was not true..On my 4 other Insight tours , I had used my credit card for the gratuity, so I now had to find an ATM , or go to exchange service to leave the grastuity in euros..In other words, she did not want to incur commision or fees on this transaction but its ok for me to be inconvenienced and incur the cost of exchange fees..So let me ask you, who is the customer, the tour director or the guest ? Otherwise, I will say , in her own way, was very organized and handled all the logistics extremely well.
