We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people that I now consider friends. Nigel was a fantastic tour guide and his level three stories made the trip!
It was a fantastic holiday. The group tour leader was excellent. We enjoyed swimming and she took us to the best areas rather than the main beach. The walks were quite difficult under foot and there was a lot of up and down. Needed reasonable fitness. Food was great at the hotel but not a lot of vegetables and fruit.
What a fantastic week! The hiking is varied and you will pass through all those wonderful towns and villages that you have dreamt of visiting. The scenery just gets better and better and the highlight for me was the iconic ‘Path of the Gods’. That said every day had something to offer and we had free time to wonder, shop and enjoy a drink or ice-cream. The local village near to the farm also has a lovely vibe and there are bars, restaurants to enjoy. Which we did! Nigel our Guide was excellent. He knew every step of the routes and was spot on when arranging transport links which was key. His sense of humour really brought the group together and he kept us all safe and explained in detail the itinerary for each day. What a week and what a group. I highly recommend this adventure!
Our guide Nigel was terrific! He was very well organized, easily available and seemed genuinely interested in each person
All round wonderful trip. Group and guide 100%.
Terrific holiday. Well organised and carefully explained regularly. Fantastic scenery on the walks. Safe. Amalfi Coast!!! WOW
Trip was highly enjoyable. Great hiking trails with amazing views. We got opportunities to enjoy some free time also. Loved the different villages we got to experience along the way. Our tour guide Nigel made the hikes fun and enjoyable aswell as informative. Group integrated really well together. Will recommend and rebook 🤠
It was a great trip. Well organized and prepared. I could not ask for a better more enthusiastic leader than Satva. It had a great mix of walks with plenty of extra free time.
This trip was everything I imagined and so much more. Communication with the company right from the start was impressive. Carmel was very informative and helpful since I really did not know what to expect. I was able to meet with my group with ease, and the guide knew my name as soon as I walked up to him, which put me at ease and made me feel welcome. The accommodation was authentic and charming. I appreciated the family-oriented lifestyle. Getting to know the family and watching them work the farms daily chores was all part of the experience. Our guide Genarro was a master of his craft. Born and raised in Almafi, he was full of knowledge about the history and culture of the area and its locals. The hikes were absolutely breathtaking, with the guide giving you plenty of time for rest and water. Everyday was a new adventure and it got better each day. I had a chance to make pasta and mozzarella at the farm house it really made you feel a part of a day in the life of a local. The tour was very well planned and far as transportation and timing. The food was so fresh and delicious how could it not be when it was probably just picked that day! This was a week I will never forget and will cherish the memories for a lifetime.
Brilliantly paced walks. Excellent drivers. Perfect joined-up organisation with nothing left to chance. Super informative guide. A really fun week.
The agritourismo was nice - clean, comfortable, close to the village. The food was basic but OK, with plenty to eat. The pasta-making session was a bit disappointing - not as thorough (or as much fun) as one I'd done before. The walking included a LOT of up and down rough steps - very little that was straightforward walking. The were some fantastic views though. On the day off the tour leader gave various suggestions for things we could do - you can get a bus into Amalfi then a ferry to lots of places, including some quieter towns/beaches. The towns of Capri, Amalfi and Positano are very pretty but absolutely rammed with visitors - extremely crowded.
Enjoyed the experience very much. My first time in Italy so this Amalfi Coast walking tour was a great start to my Italian adventures.
This is not a moderate hike it is extremely hard and starting the walks in the middle of the day in the middle of the heat is the most difficult part of the walk the hike should start 7am not 12.30pm maybe if i did the hike in spring it would be a different experience The accommodation is only a 1☆ and hospitality is below 0 we didn't even get a good morning or a good night from the family we stayed with I loved the views I am so glad I did finish the hike at my age that is an achievement in it's self The organising staff should look into a different accommodation and change the starting times according to the time of the season
The trip was well organized. I would have enjoyed a little more free time to explore towns. Our Leader/Tour Guide Gaia was very informative, knowledgeable and personable. She made sure, that everyone felt comfortable in all physical activities. I had a great overall experience.
I really enjoyed my week on the Amalfi Coast. The scenery is fabulous at every turn, the guide Gaia was excellent and the agriturismo was much more comfortable than I was expecting. I knew it was going to be hot, so my one comment would be to start the walks earlier in the morning when it's cooler. The group gelled really well. The extras such as the cooking class and the pizza demonstration were enjoyed by all. We had enough free time in the lovely villages such as Ravello, Amalfi, Capri, but those that wanted to swim might have wanted longer in Positano. The Path of the Gods walk coincided with the hottest day of the week so it took us longer, therefore not leaving much time in Positano at the end of the day, but it suited both of us.
Matteo was an excellent guide - great energy and company. He really got to know the group and adapted the trekking style to meet all participants. His knowledge of the whole area is incredible and the treks were really informative, fun and exhausting! The accommodation was great - only one element which could be improved which is air conditioning but wasn’t too much of a problem without it due to fans being provided.
This was my second Explore trip and it was a great experience with a group of nice people and a great tour leader. It went like clockwork but without feeling regimented. Staying in Agerola (San Lazzaro) at 700m elevation was a blessing due to the hot weather. It was several degrees cooler overnight up on the plateau. And it was much preferable to staying in overcrowded overtouristed towns on the water.
Beautiful tour with knowledgeable and friendly local guide, Gennaro who made sure we had so much practical and historical information and planned everything meticulously. It was my first trip abroad for several years and was made easy by Explore, the accommodation and Gennaro especially. An authentic experience of the area with varied walks, time for swim in the sea and even a few pretty shops and towns. Memorable trip.
A great way to experience the Amalfi coast The hiking was strenuous in the heat of summer but we had lots of shade on most of the walks It was a pleasure to hike on paths where we hardly met a soul in contrast to the hoardes of tourists in the urban areas Gennaro our leader was a credit to Explore His unfailing enthusiasm for explaining the history of the area and for treating each guest with warm kindness and consideration The agriturismo Luna de Agricola was comfortable with cool accommodation in the old buildings The hosts Valentino and his wife were pleasant but the food was not as good as I was expecting with stodgy pasta I was surprised that a very mediocre local wine was costing €10 As the Brits are big tea drinkers it would have been ideal to have a kettle in the room Transport was excellent on all our journeys
The trip exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate to be in a very cohesive group. Our guide was excellent and shared his knowledge of the area with us openly. Our accommodation was terrific and I enjoyed being away from the touristy Amalfi areas. The itinerary was full and varied. All the organisation required seemed to happen seamlessly for which we were all grateful. Well done Explore.
Tour guide was excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. Interesting and fun trip!
Gennaro and the Explore team were very friendly and knowledgeable about the Amalfi Coast. Our group was fun and easy to be associated with and we feel we made some new friends in the process. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
Itinerary was just what I wanted, moderately hard walks through outstanding countryside. Tour leader, Peter, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and aware of everyone’s needs.
Really enjoyed this trip. Gennaro the local guide was brilliant in every aspect. The walks were varied and well paced for the groups abilities. Lovely views and locations visited. The use of private transportation during the tour was very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this tour.
A well planned itinerary that gets you to all the main towns in the area and with breath taking views along the way. Gennaro, the local guide, was extremely knowledgable about the history and life on the Amalfi coast, while making sure that everyone enjoyed their week.
This was a fantastic experience. The leader, Pepe was extremely knowledgeable and had excellent leadership skills. He was fun to ge with. The accommodation was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The walks were well planned and othe activities were good.
I liked the accommodation on the farm. It was a welcoming environment and the food was freshly cooked and tasty. The itinerary was good. I found a couple of the walks tiring as it was very hot, however it was great to see Amalfi from a different perspective during the walks. The pasta making and pizza evenings were fun and I recommend them. I also enjoyed the Pompeii visit a lot, our guide at Pompeii, Stefano, was excellent. Our guide for the tour, Peppe, was also excellent and very supportive during the activities and kept us well-informed during our stay. Overall, it was very enjoyable and lovely to stay in Agerola, a beautiful place which is not commercialised.
Gaia was a fabulous guide whose bubbly enthusiasm was contagious. The views from the walks were stunning. It was also lovely staying on the agritourismo property instead of a hotel. I'm from a farming family so I felt at home. The family running it were very helpful and welcoming.
This trip exceeded my expectations. It was my first trip with Explore and my first time doing such a trip as a solo traveller. All I can say is that every aspect of this trip was so well managed that the only thing I had to do was enjoy myself, and that I did. My leader, Gaia was fun, caring and very knowledgeable. The walking level was perfect for me but I would say that due to the number of ascents and descents it was often more of a moderate level than easy. The forest walks and visiting Ravello and Atrani, as well as walking the quiet side of Capri was divine. I far preferred my time spent there than any time spent in the very busy Amalfi, Positano and the shopping area of Capri. Our home base of San Lazzaro and the Luna d'Agerola, high above the busy side of the Amalfi Coast was quiet and comfortable. Don't miss out on the Pizza Experience. It proved to be a great show! Lastly, if you have a tendency towards motion sickness, invest in some acupressure wrist bands that combat car sickness. They absolutely saved me!!! Thank you Gaia and Explore. Great trip, wonderful group, incredible experience.
Walks were rather more demanding than I expected. Farmhouse accommodation very good, clean quiet rooms with everything we needed. Breakfast was a bit frugal, quantity put out barely enough for 14 people. I had to ask for yoghurt bowl to be replenished several days in a row, also no tea/coffee offered after evening meal. Quality of food very good though. Guia was a lovely guide and a great asset for explore co.
Excellent hikes, with knowledgeable leader. Comfortable accommodation and plenty of yummy food.
Absolutely extraordinary experience from start to end! Amazing hikes, interesting evening experiences, warm community with farm stay. Great group and amazing views, truly once in a lifetime experience! Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello - all amazing places I would return to in a heartbeat. Don't miss the lemon sorbet (in a real sorrento lemon), truly awesome flavor!
What an amazing trip! Genarro is such a positive person who loves the Amalfi Coastal area. He shared so much information with us and made certain we had the trip of a lifetime. Genarro took great care of us and made sure we saw everything we wanted to see and that we did everything we wanted to do. He shared great local tips that helped us see and explore the area. The best tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of touring with. Incredible! I would definitely take a tour with him again and know that it would be AMAZING! The agriturismo is in a great location. We enjoyed walking to the nearby village; enjoying the restaurants and shops. I had one big issue with where we stayed. While we did have wi-fi in the dining room, we did not have wi-fi in our rooms. This became an issue since there was always some sort of cooking class in the dining room that prevented me from hanging out there and using the wi-fi. I would suggest having them make sure wi-fi could be accessed throughout their location. A smaller issue would be the breakfast we were offered. It was the same everyday - which became a bit boring. The EXPLORE! brochure / itinerary stated that we would have wine with our meals at the agriturismo. We did not. We had to purchase any wine that we drank with our meals. It would be nice to have correct information provided to us.
I had a fabulous time joining the group. Gaia, our leader was phenomenal. She was always joyful and supportive of all types of hikers. She was very knowledgeable about plants, ecology, Italy, etc. and I learned so much. The trails were definitely moderate and leisurely, and she explained each one before the hike and often times during the hike. It was a great way to explore this region as it is so breathtaking and much more than just the individual towns have to offer. I gave Explore the company a four out of five overall only because I didn’t feel the communication was excellent as a first time group traveler - I was a little nervous. Yes I was given the itinerary, but I had a couple of questions that came up and they were not answered. I just felt the customer service was lacking. I heard lots of nice things about other Explore hikes that I would definitely do another I don’t know if there could have been more flexibility with the return bus schedule after the hikes as sometimes we didn’t have a lot of time to relax and shop just because of the different hiking levels that we had within the group - we were a little bit delayed. That’s really the only suggestion for improvement that I have everything else was absolutely perfect.
The agriturismo is very peaceful and situated near a pleasant town. The food is good and the owners are very welcoming. The walks were varied but all were in the spectacular scenery mostly on quiet trails. Our guide Gaia was very cheerful and friendly. She has an excellent knowledge of the area and is so keen to share it. The guide at Pompeii was also very good.
Great itinerary and group leader but the food at the agri-turismo was disappointing. At breakfast they ran out of coffee, milk, bread, ham, cheese after less than half of our group had sat down so we had to ask for more of each item. For dinners only had vegetables once in week and salad 2-3 times. One dinner: pasta starter, chicken and 5 chips, cake for dessert.
Excellent trip, stunning coastal scenery - beautiful spring wild flowers. Gennaro was a great guide, with superior local knowledge - very helpful & amenable at all times. Superb daytrip to Herculaneum & Pompeii with very knowledgeable local guide.
Very well planned and informative trip. Gennaro was an absolute brilliant guide and a mindful of local knowledge. Great holiday
Enjoyed the fact that this tour is centre-based (avoids moving around). Agriturismo is family owned and run which was also enjoyable. The group size was very good and the itinerary varied. The length of the tour was also just right. Transportation during the tour was very efficient and safe. Our tour guide was from the region which enhanced our learning about the Amalfi Coast.
