In the south, the capital city of Helsinki has a beautiful harbour offering sailing tours and cruises, while Lapland in the north is ideal for sightings of the Northern Lights. Families flock to Rovaniemi each year in hopes of seeing Santa Claus, while snowshoers and skiers head to Kuusamo to get in touch with nature.

Honest insights from past guests on our Finland tours

It was a once in a lifetime trip to be in the arctic, see reindeer in wild and experience outdoors adventures - and of course the experience of seeing the Northern Lights. We were lucky - the sky was clear! Make sure you prepare thought - very very cold!!!

This was our first tour with Trafalgar, and it truly exceeded our expectations. was outstanding — always keeping us informed and comfortable. was excellent as well; he was punctual, patient, helpful with our luggage, and made us feel safe with his driving. guided us during snowshoeing and aurora hunting, and he was wonderful. Our snowmobile guides also took great care of us. The Aurora dinner was nice, though we grew tired standing by the firepit too long, and the sled ride might have been better scheduled earlier. Our husky adventure, however, was exceptional. , our guide in Stockholm, was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. Overall, the trip was smooth, well organized, and memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better team or a better first experience with Trafalgar.

A well organized Arctic adventure, featuring snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, a visit to an ice hotel, a reindeer farm and an Arctic zoo. It was great to learn about the Sami people, church towns as well as the history and features of Finland and Sweden.

The hotel location in Helsinki was excellent. We were close to attractions, the water and shopping. All were within easy walking distance. The manager of the sled dogs was entertaining and very informative.

The start was rocky with the cancellation of our flight over to Finland but after that everything went well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. My most memorable experience was seeing the Northern Lights. I missed not seeing snow but it couldn't be helped.

Nancy Thomsen, our tour manager, was awesome! Loved learning about Finland, local food, and traditions. While excursions were limited due to lack of snow we still had a great time. Certainly the highlight of the trip was our good fortune to see a magical display of the Aurora our first night in Lapland. A truly once in a lifetime experience.
