Reviews of our Finland Tours for June
Feedback from guests who toured Finland during June.
The 20-day-long tour from Copenhagen, Stockholm, to Finland to Norway really updated my knowledge, enhanced creativity, as stepping out of a comfort zone is not easy, but it motivated me to adapt to the environment, foster tolerance, and exposed broader cultural, cuisine and way of life perspectives. I was thrilled to feel that I was at the end of the world ( Nordikapp- edge of the world)! This is one of the most exceptional sites with epic views, its vastness, experiencing nature's power and cold and harsh weather with its own beauty! Worth visiting these offbeat places!
A wonderful holiday, and an excellent introduction to the beauty and charm of Finland and Sweden. The guide was terrific, and I enjoyed all the walks. The first one was a bit more challenging than expected, but I understand Explore has taken that on board. It is a new holiday, and there are bound to be things that are tweaked for future trips; that said before booking I would recommend checking whether the hotels in the cities are too far out of town for you. The trip notes warn that eating out will be expensive, and it was, particularly alcohol; I would recommend being prepared for this. Would definitely recommend.
This is a new trip and so wasn’t perfect, but still it was very interesting and good fun. Highlights for me were, the Vasa Museum visit and the Aland Islands. The walks were great, including the optional walk at Mariehamn, maybe that could go into the itinerary. Least favourite parts - the guided tours through various cities, especially the Helsinki tour. The visit to Raumu also felt a long way to travel (3 hours round trip) for a short walk and rushed tour of the town. In fact there were 2 guided tours on that day and we had no time to look at either place (Turku or Raumu) in more detail. I would drop Raumu, allow time for individual exploration of Turku and a longer walk in the afternoon. This tour has lots of potential and is well worth taking.
The Dinners provided were some of the best I’ve had, hands down. The Be My Guest was good - only because they had a Wedding Party to attend to as we arrived. But that was fun. I like surprises. It’s life. Another amazing experience was an extra excursion to Tallinn Estonia- **** an awesome little town - the weather sucked but the town & it’s experiencing the beautiful old buildings & cobbled stone roads set one back in time. Also hearing from the residents of their freedom they have now. Eye opening experiences. The hotels were good. What I did not like was the tubs because I’m short & had some difficulty getting in as safety as possible. I need a refrigerator for my medication/ some rooms did not have it - so I improvised with ice. I loved the 2 nights in one place better than the one nighters.
Our trip was wonderful. The historical, as well as the modern, sites were beautiful & very interesting. A must see was our visit to Tallinn. Our Travel Director, was a wealth of knowledge. He was funny & very engaging. Our driver, was extremely professional. We always felt safe, as his driving skills were amazing. The hotels were top-notch & the food everywhere was great. My only disappointment was that Trafalgar is no longer giving repeat travelers small keepsakes from the tour.
This was a my dream trip and did not disappoint. The places we visited were stunning, the local specialists remarkable and our Travel Director was the best. Trafalgar is the only way to see Scandinavia!
