Finland Tours in February 2027

My wife and I travel a lot. This trip rates among the top three travel experiences we have had. It was physically demanding to wear all the clothes needed to handle the frigid weather, but well worth the effort. The activities were well planned and exciting. The icing is the Northern lights experience. We saw them briefly on three evenings. Then on our last night the sky exploded with an unforgettable show that lasted for hours.

First of all it was called Scandinavia NORTHERN LIGHTS tour, and our first optional extra was the Aurora lights sighting, the trouble was we stopped on a main highway with constant traffic, impossible to see anything and it cost $209.00 for both my husband and myself. Also another issue was that we had meat balls for dinner nearly 3 nights in a row. We have traveled with Trafalgar many times, this was a really fantastic trip. Our tour director Veronica Stef was brilliant, couldn’t fault her and we had an amazing group of people on our trip. We had fantastic weather throughout our trip, just need to remember that it was a Northern Lights tour and we had to pay for the Optional Experience, and a main road is not the right place to try and view the lights. Felt ripped off! The accommodation throughout our tour was fantastic, and a big thank you to our driver Damion….just brilliant.

The trip to the Northern Lights was fabulous. The accommodations of the cabin and the glass igloo were great. The food was only ok. My fav memorable experience was riding/driving the dog sled.

I enjoyed the tour of Finland and the guide was awesome! She was amazing and shared her extensive knowledge of the sights. Our tour manager was equally amazing! She was very friendly and always ready to help with any questions or issues. The husky sled ride was my favorite! And going out on the bus to see the northern lights was wonderful!!!

First time snowshoeing and I’m already hooked! ❄️ Huge thanks to our guide Joonas for giving us the confidence to explore the Finnish wilderness – crossing frozen lakes, trekking through snow-laden forests, navigating tiny bridges over fast-flowing rapids, and sinking into snow up to our knees! What an unforgettable adventure! Basecamp Oulanka itself is a true highlight of this trip – a magical setting where you can step right out of your cabin and into an adventure, with hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at your doorstep! The camp itself is so well-equipped and has every comfort. The cabins are cosy and warm. The main lodge has lots of comfy corners to sit and enjoy a hot drink from the complimentary tea and coffee station after a hike or sit by the fire in the evenings. The sauna and hot tub became part of our daily routine after active days out. I was also impressed by the kit that Basecamp provide, you literally could come with the basics and they will give you everything you need for the whole week. I found the snow boots and snowshoes themselves very comfortable!

This is an absolutely fabulous trip that I would not hesitate to recommend. I really wasn't sure how I would get on with a holiday in the cold as I am a warm weather person normally but I really enjoyed it. My feet and hands got cold sometimes but my body was warm all holiday - even in -24 watching the Northern Lights. The variety of activities is brilliant - I got to do so many things for the first time. I loved the Basecamp - so cosy with lovely staff and great food. The rooms are fairly small but are warm and comfortable with good storage space. I was fortunate to have an absolutely amazing group as well.
