Dreaming of a winter adventure beneath the Northern Lights? The "Northern Lights of Finland" tour is an 8-day journey starting and ending in Helsinki, tailored for experienced travelers and seniors who crave both culture and excitement. This moderate-activity tour takes you from Helsinki’s dynamic cityscape to the wilds of Lapland for a 3-night stay in the snowy north. Highlights include a guided tour of Helsinki, tasting authentic Finnish cuisine, and unforgettable overnights in a glass igloo and log cabin. Experience a reindeer safari with local herders, mush your own dog sled team, and embark on a quest to witness the magical aurora borealis. The unique selling point of this trip is the combination of cultural discovery and once-in-a-lifetime arctic experiences, all wrapped up in the cozy comfort of thoughtfully chosen accommodations and expert guidance.
The Tour was fabulous once we arrived. We had problems getting to our destination due to an airport shutdown and was unsuccessful with our attempts to contact Collette. We had to arrange our own way around the "detour" Locals were very helpful with this process. Once we arrived in the Arctic, the experience was a "once in a lifetime!!" Our tour guide was the best! I hope to encounter her again on another trip.
Our tour manager, Minna was very knowledgeable and fun. The accommodations were lovely. We did the cabin/igloo upgrade at the Kakslauttaten resort and would recommend it. Pacing was a nice balance of activities and time to relax and enjoy our accommodations and the resort activities. We were lucky & saw the Northern Lights 2 of the 3 nights were in Lapland.
Once we finally got to Lapland it was wonderful, but getting there was not easy. Flight detoured to Scothland with no help from Collette we took a train to Manchester stayed over night next day sat most of day till we could get a flight to Helsinki stayed over night in hotel Lily Robert's no porters so we to take care of our luggage by ourselves not easy when you are 80 and had to do steps. Next day we flew to Lapland never did get to see Helsinki. But the northern lights were fabulous 👌
