Turkey is a melting pot of eastern and western influences, and our Turkey culture tours are the best way to explore this diversity. Learn about the splendid Hagia Sophia, which owes its grandeur to the 16th-century architectural flourishes during Ottoman rule. Clad in white and spinning skilfully, the whirling dervish is another powerful cultural symbol of Turkey that can be seen at the Galata Mevlevi Museum. Enjoy the beautiful art galleries of Antalya, and don’t miss the Greek, Roman and Ottoman artifacts on display at the Antalya Archaeological Museum. Then take a trip to Cappadocia and try traditional Turkish dishes such as manti (Turkish dumplings) and gozleme (thin, savory pancakes) before learning about pottery-making and carpet weaving with the local artisans. Turkey Local culture Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Local culture Turkey tours

It would have been nice to have another day and night in Istanbul, to explore a little more some of the sites we saw. Tolga, our tour leader was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, patient and fun. The driver, Atilla was helpful and friendly too. This is a full on itinerary, and is sold as such. Fantastic to be able to see so much in just a week.

G Adventures exceeded my expectations. Absolute Turkey allowed me to experience the country's varied culture and geography from city to small village, from farmland to seacoast, from mosques to the underground cities, and much more. With an excellent tour guide and driver, I highly recommend this trip.

This was my first G adventure tour.. I was very impressed by the tour leader, the variety of experiences offered, and the camaraderie among our group who were strangers at the start. Not sure I have ever felt so much ease while exploring a culture and its people. Kudos to G adventures for designing an A+ experience.

This tour was an exceptional tour of an exceptional country. I loved every single moment of it from the wonderful breakfasts to the fabulous food throughout the day to the amazing sites that we saw in the myriad different areas of the country. As a lover of history and archaeology this tour exceeded my expectations, and I truly loved all the historical sites. I would recommend it to anyone and if there’s any way that they can get the wonderful leader Engin then I would recommend it even more so

I'd say the tour acquainted me with some of the most beautiful spots of one the most beautiful countries in the world, in the company of strangers so lovely they felt like friends in days.

Travel Tips for Cultural Trips in Turkey

  • Remove your shoes and (if you’re a female traveler) cover your head before entering a mosque. Do not wear shorts, miniskirts or revealing clothes.
  • Feel free to look around the mosque inside, but don’t speak loudly or take pictures of worshippers.
  • Learn a few important phrases of the local language because most Turks don’t speak English. You will be interacting with a lot of local communities on a Turkey cultural trip so this can come in handy.
  • The cost of Turkey culture tours can range roughly from USD 1,200 for a one-week trip to USD 3,500 for an in-depth two-week tour.
