'Turkey In Depth' was an excellent tour. I was particularly impressed with the Tour guide, Oz, who went out of his way to ensure that we all had a memorable time. We had two tour members with personal medical conditions that arose during the tour and Oz was very sensitive to their needs, discreetly arranging hospital visits for them while ensuring the tour progress was unaffected. His knowledge of the various places we visited was excellent and his sense of humour was delightful. All members of the tour were seasoned travellers and they were all very friendly and interesting people. We had a very good time together. The places visited were fascinating and the hotels were generally of a good standard. There is a large amount of bus travel between the sites visited, which potential travellers should bear in mind, but the bus we travelled in was very comfortable. The tour is definitely 'Full On' as described. A reasonable level of fitness is necessary as there is a lot of walking around ancient sites with uneven, often slippery paths as well as lots of steps. Overall, this was an excellent tour that gave great insight into this wonderful country and its ancient history. I recommend it highly as it exceeded my expectations.

Walking in Cappadocia is the perfect way to explore this unique and special landscape. Walking between rock formations made by a volcano eruption 10 million years ago was an incredible experience. We also enjoyed eating at the different restaurants in Göreme and at the village restaurant. I would recommend the casserole rather than the manti. We also enjoyed a sunny afternoon in Avanos searching for that perfect pot! Our guide Aykut was knowledgeable and good fun. I loved it all.

This was such an excellent holiday. We were lucky to have perfect weather, which enhanced the stunning views we enjoyed along the route. The walks were different on each day, with a variety of terrain and therefore experiences, including stopping for freshly squeezed pomegranate juice or herb pancakes for lunch. It was fascinating to see the ancient Lycian ruins, particularly at Patara. I loved the boat trip, swim and lunch on the last day too - such an fantastic way to finish the holiday. Our guide, Zep, was brilliant too. She made sure that she talked to everyone, kept us on track at a pace that suited everyone and entertained us with stories and other information about the places that we visited. I had asked her if she had any knowledge about local plants, an interest of mine, and she was able to give me lots of information. I highly recommend this trip

Brilliant introduction to the history in and around Turkiye, when they say it's full on it is BUT this being said the sites were amazing especially with Tolga our guide and team leader who was very know, this made the speed well worth the trip,I will be going back.

Such an amazing experience. Our guide was exceptional as was out driver. They looked after our every need and advised on places to eat. I love that Explore support the local community. Nice range of hotels, smaller and more intimate. Amazing history. Sailing was my favourite day! Gallipoli was very sad. Istanbul was amazing! Ephesus was huge! The group was small and we all got on really well. No stress at all. The perfect adventure! Such an insight into an amazing country. Thank you!

This is a great holiday. I've walked the Lycian way a couple of times and love Turkey. The walks were shorter but very interesting every day with a chance to swim most days and fantastic walks in the mountains and forests. Food as always was really good usually vegetarian. We were also taken to small farms and villages and local houses where the meals were fantastic. Hotel was small but comfortable with a pool and amazing breakfasts. Bar and breakfast room had lovely views over the sea towards the greek islands. Nebil the guide was excellent, kind, well informed and judged the pace for a varied group really well. Early October the weather was usually perfect to walk and warm. However we had one day of heavy rain so take a waterproof.

Planning tips for solo travelers to Turkey

Safest destinations in Turkey for single travelers

Turkey is generally a safe and enriching destination for solo travelers, including women and members of marginalized communities. Its vibrant culture, friendly locals, and strong tourism infrastructure make it easy to navigate, with English widely spoken in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas. Destinations like Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya are particularly welcoming—offering lively atmospheres, visible police presence, and plenty of solo-friendly cafes, cultural sites, and accommodations. Cappadocia is another favorite for its peaceful towns and tourism-focused hospitality. While petty crime is rare compared to cities like Barcelona or London, it’s still wise to stay alert in crowded places and use common-sense precautions. Many solo women report feeling safe walking in central areas of Istanbul, especially in well-lit districts like Kadıköy and Karaköy. Rideshare apps like Uber add convenience. LGBTQIA+ travelers should use discretion outside major cities, as conservative attitudes persist.

Cost of traveling to Turkey alone

Solo travelers will find Turkey both affordable and richly rewarding. Budget-conscious single explorers can comfortably travel on around USD 60 per day, which typically covers simple accommodation, local meals, and public transportation. Bookmundi’s structured solo trips to Turkey begin at roughly USD 159 per person, offering thoughtfully designed itineraries that highlight iconic sights, local experiences, and seamless logistics. Single travelers opting for private accommodations should anticipate single room supplements, typically ranging from USD 25–50 per night depending on tour specifics and lodging choices.
