All our Friends Discouraged us From Going to Mexico that it is not Safe etc.But on the contrary we never felt unsafe anywhere thanks to our Guides who were Always around and made us Feel as if it is a Family Trip altogether. The Itineraries were Great as we enjoyed every bit of it,Because most of the Towns Chosen were Unesco World Heritage Sites and we got ourselves immersed in an experience of Spanish Colonial History of Foue Decades.

We really enjoyed the trip to Mexico. My wife and I were delighted to see Mexico City, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, and San Miguel de Allende. The hotels were quality places. Rooms were clean and neat. We took a nice boat ride in Patzcuaro. We saw beautiful old Catholic churches. The people in Mexico were nice. Of course, it helped that I spoke Spanish fluently. Our tour guide, Maria, did a good job, was nice, helpful, and relaxed. Enjoyed the food. We hope to visit some more places around the world. In the next 10-15 years. I wish we had had a little more time at a few places that we visited. Overall, pleased and would do a trip again with Europamundo.

Immersive local experience with round-the-clock support

This is a great trip for anyone wanting an introduction into Mexican history, culture, as well as for those seeking adventures and local immersion. It spans clear beaches, luscious jungles, dominating canyons and city life. The mornings are packed with activity with some customizable free days here and there to explore. The tours in Mexico were mainly with other locals which helped me improve my Spanish.

It was such a fantastic experience. Views at the sunrise were breathtaking, we took so many picture of the Pyramid of the Sun. The pilot was really professional and we finished the tour with a glass of champagne. We also recommend the guided tour of the pyramids, it is very interesting.

Magnificent silence

One of my best experiences. I felt safe and entertained. There was breakfast in the garden and everyone got a certificate. Afterwards we were driven to Teotihuacan where we had three hours on our own.

It was everything we had hope, well organized and very safe. We were a little bit afraid but everything went well and our pilote was really professional. The views of the pyramids are absolutely stunning.

Insights on traveling Mexico on a budget

Average daily budget for an inexpensive Mexican vacation

Travelers looking to experience Mexico without draining their savings can expect to spend an average of USD 50 per day on a multiday budget tour through Bookmundi. This covers basic accommodations (often in local guesthouses or simple hotels), transportation between destinations, authentic local meals, and a selection of cultural or nature-based activities. From snorkeling in crystal-clear cenotes to exploring ancient ruins and joining vibrant food walks, these cheap Mexico trips are designed to stretch your peso without cutting corners on experience. Independent travelers budgeting carefully can still expect daily costs of USD 40 – 60, including street food, local buses, and low-cost attractions—especially if staying in hostels or opting for homestays.

Recommended activities and destinations for budget tours in Mexico

Discover the artistic flair of Oaxaca, take self-guided walking tours through colonial towns like San Cristóbal de las Casas, or visit open-air markets bursting with color and flavor. For coastal charm on a dime, opt for the beaches of Tulum or the laid-back vibes of Puerto Escondido. Inland, budget-friendly towns such as Guanajuato and Puebla offer rich culture, cobblestoned streets, and free public events or festivals. Many things to do in Mexico—from hiking volcanoes to wandering ancient Mayan ruins—require little more than curiosity and a pair of good shoes. Best of all, places to visit in Mexico often come with fewer crowds and more genuine interactions on a budget tour, allowing deeper immersion into local life.

When to travel Mexico to save more

If you’re hoping to snag lower prices while still soaking up Mexico’s charm, the shoulder seasons—April to early June and September to mid-November—are ideal. These months avoid the holiday rush and school break crowds, while still offering warm weather perfect for outdoor adventures. Budget-conscious travelers should steer clear of Christmas, Easter, and summer vacation periods, when prices skyrocket and popular spots fill up fast. Coastal areas like the Riviera Maya enjoy balmy breezes year-round, but visiting just before or after hurricane season often means better deals. Central Mexico’s cities and highlands, including Mexico City and Oaxaca, boast milder climates even in off-peak months.
