Reviews of our Mexico Tours for February
Feedback from guests who toured Mexico during February.
Excellent itinerary with many highlights. Personal favourites being Tikal, Palenque, Xunanatunich , Uxmal and the creepy folk horror church in Chamula. Flores & Caye Caulker were also lovely and Mexico City was unexpectedly interesting. Also unexpected was the amount of wildlife we saw, especially in Guatemala & Belize, including many birds, howler & spider monkeys, coatis, iguanas & crocodiles. The transport was all good with plenty of space, although a couple of buses had broken or absent seat belts. Several long drives, but that can't really be helped. Accommodation was all excellent and especially appreciated the centrally located hotels in Oaxaca & San Cristobel. On a negative note, to much time was wasted on very long, very late lunches which resulted in a couple of late arrivals at our hotel with no time to look around and a very rushed boat trip in fading light in Sumidero Canyon. Suggest people just take a snack. Also no time was given to see the Sun Pyramid (the main attraction) at Teotihuacan so that we could go to a souvenir shop and a long lunch. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in this part of the world.
It was very well managed and the Trip Manager was a great support. He was professional, funny and supportive in every matter. The last hotel at Mexico City was great. Overall a good overview of the city covered.
Our leader, Arturo, in a word was... fantastic! He managed his herd of 12 client cyclists in a manner that was fun, patient, gracious and ALWAYS with a smile. And he was an excellent communicator at all times. Our bus drivers were also great and worked very hard with long days. The newer hybrid 21-speed bikes were surprisingly ideal for the cycling - quite enjoyable. Also surprising was the quality of the road surfaces we were on. Generally in very good shape with little traffic. Although they were often very straight and generally flat, the jungle would frequently open up to nicer vistas and give us slices of friendly Mexican rural life. The trip was further enhanced by the quality of the many cultural & archeological tours. Through his excellent connections and experience, Arturo snagged amazing English speaking guides that provided detailed interesting commentary that brought insight to the sites we visited - it would be difficult to get those experiences traveling on your own. Our beginning of February tour was often windy during the rides and had temperatures that were cooler than normal, especially in the evenings. Still lovely though. During our last day of cycling it was warm but suddenly started to rain. Hard! We got thoroughly soaked. But we still enjoyed the experience and laughed at the situation while riding. Most in our group thought it was the best day of cycling in the tour. Every day was jam packed with the bus rides, cycling, eating, and touring the cultural experiences. Very busy so there wasn't a lot of downtime, especially as some activities took longer than planned for. After the tour, many in the group stayed days or weeks longer in the region to enjoy sunshine and relaxation. In summary, I highly recommend this trip. The Yucatan is a beautiful area with so much history. The cycling was enjoyable, but likely too easy for more serious cyclists expecting great workouts. Maybe we were just lucky as our group really gelled and had a lot of laughs. Super fun!
Loved it! A fantastic tour with a good mixture of cycling, sightseeing and culture as well as sampling culinary delights. Each day was full of activities and education. Arturo was an amazing guide - very friendly, patient and a great leader. Our drivers Lugo and Jose were also great. Such a fun and memorable trip with a great multinational group.
We saw such a variety of culture + countryside , travelled long distances + had many different experiences with people we had never met before , but who became our friends by the end of our journey.
This was my first organised group tour and I have to admit I was apprehensive about spending 3 weeks with „strangers“ and the potential lack of autonomy. My apprehension was unfounded - my fellow travellers and the exceptional CEO made the trip all the more special and there was a perfect balance between organized activities and the opportunity to discover the locations for ourselves.
