Ancient Greeks gave us theater, philosophy, political science, modern mathematics and much more. In effect, they pioneered Western civilization. So it is no wonder that taking museum tours in Greece is among the top things to do in the country. Wonderful trip expertly led by Thanos with his wealth of knowledge about the country, care of his guests, great stories and buckets of enthusiasm. The weather caused Thanos to have to make changes but all was with safety as the first consideration.

Accommodation is basic, but exactly as described, and more manageable than we feared. We really enjoyed the trip, and would have liked to spend a few more days on the boat. Food on the boat was excellent, loved the lunches. Loved swimming off the boat after the walks. We'd have preferred an earlier arrival at the boat - it turned out all the passengers bar 2 had been hanging around Athens airport all afternoon, and the 2 could have arrived earlier.

A fabulous holiday. Accommodation was compact and fairly basic as expected on a small boat. Itinerary was very good and had to be slightly modified due to weather conditions. Our tour leader Thanos was excellent. His passion, enthusiasm and interest was infectious. A great group of fellow travellers helped make this a lovely trip. Food on board was excellent. Food in the various tavernas was variable.

I think the itinerary that we had selected was exactly what we wanted to do with just enough time at each stop. The only difference compared to earlier tours is that there are fewer included programs as compared with the earlier itineraries. The tour leader Ms Nadine was excellent and very helpful. She was knowledgeable and was always available when required. I think every one on the tour was very happy with Nadine.

Itinerary allowed open choices between offered extra tours and private tours, activities or free time. Tour director was very helpful looking after us and seeing everyone was fine. Hotels were excellent. Mikonos hotel Rhenia is family owned seem confused about who the guests are. Go to the buffet at 10 AM and they’ll clear your table to let you know breakfast is over. Before leaving let the desk know about some lights needing bulbs got dressed down for not reporting it sooner. The room is our private space. Just thinking of the next guest.

Travel Tips for Museum Tours in Greece

  • Check if you need to book a slot in advance. Many Greek museums, especially around the Acropolis, require tickets in advance with designated time slots to avoid overcrowding.
  • Keep your valuables close to your person in secure bags or clothing. Museums are one of the top tourist attractions in Greece, so there are often pickpockets around.
  • Remember to tip your tour guide. Many of the Greece museum tour guides are history or art experts in their own right, so make sure you show your appreciation at the end of the tour.
  • Avoid outdoor museums and open-air museums. in the middle of the day. The sun in Greece can be very strong and with open-air museums like the Agora Romana, there is very little shade to provide respite. Either go early or wait until late afternoon.
