Secrets of Puglia

We had the best tour leader on any tour we have ever done . Fabio was fabulous and very caring, and the driver was great and fun as well. Of the four tours we did while we were away Puglia region was our favourite. Have told our travel agent to suggest the tour to her clients. The places we visited and the scenery were amazing. Choice of hotels were of a good standard. Had a great group to travel with

Truly a wonderful experience. I am world travelled and congratulations on a tour well put together. Fabio was a great tour leader, the trip allowed for relax time which is quite often not the case. Small group was good and timing of travel through the day was good. Some of he tour guides were too comprehensive with their comentary. A couple of hotels need to be looked at and changed.

Enjoyed the overall experience. The smaller group and van were a plus. The tours were very informative, but one or two at 2hrs long were too long. They should have a max time of one and a half hours. While seeing the historic churches was nice, there was too much emphasis generally on the churches. Great to have the wine, cheese tasting and pasta making. Perhaps less churches and more hands on activities. The written programme was too non specific and couldn't be used to track actual activities each day.

Excellent tour of the Puglia region and the number of towns and villages visited was ideal. A lovely mix of architecture, beaches,regional food and drink and planned experiences eg. winery visits, pasta making class etc. Very much appreciated travelling on the country roads rather than the major highways and appreciating the crops and landscape.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Back Roads for a small group interesting tour. Our guide Sylvia was excellent looking after our needs and provided wonderful communication. Our driver was skilful and safe. The accomodation was always interesting and comfortable. The towns were a highlight and staying two nights in several places was a real bonus. You need to be quite fit and able to manage steps and stairs comfortably.

Absolutely loved this tour! Perfect pace, lots of free time to wander, tour guide excellent & accom was the best.

A well organised tour. We got to see and experience many sights, local food and wine during this tour. It was well paced and having three occasions where we stayed in a hotel for two nights was welcomed and gave us time to really explore and see the surrounding areas. The hotels were very accommodating, however a kettle, with tea and coffee making facilities would be appreciated. Although Matera is an amazing and beautiful location the cave hotel should be reconsidered. Far too many steps and accommodation is basic and air conditioning poor. A small group is ideal with tour guide and driver. We would definitely recommend this tour of Puglia.
