Cross the adventurous high alpine pass; Larkya La Pass at 5135 meters.
Opportunity to explore the isolated area of midwest Himalayan region of Nepal.
Manaslu Circuit Trek covers the excursion of Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP)
Seeking an off-the-beaten-path Himalayan adventure? The Manaslu Circuit Trek invites young adults and seasoned trekkers to explore Nepal’s remote Gorkha district, where the route skirts the Tibetan Plateau and delivers a blend of culture, nature, and challenge. Traverse subtropical forests, terraced fields, and high alpine meadows, passing through isolated villages that offer glimpses into traditional Himalayan life.
The trek’s crowning achievement is crossing the exhilarating Larkya La Pass (5,135m), where panoramic views of Annapurna II, Gyagi Kang, and Himlung await. Built-in acclimatization days at Samagaun and Samdo help ensure safety and allow for deeper exploration of Buddhist monasteries and lama settlements steeped in Tibetan influence.
Descending through serene forests and meadows, you eventually rejoin the classic Annapurna circuit before returning to Kathmandu. The unique selling point? This trip offers both high-altitude drama and rare cultural immersion, with fewer crowds and a deeply rewarding trekking experience.
Our airport arrival and departure representative will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. Then you will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or visit NGT’s office for gathering additional information about Manaslu Circuit Trekking. In the evening, please join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.
Accommodation: Hotel/Resort
Meals: Welcome Dinner.
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. You can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.
After breakfast, we leave Kathmandu and take a drive of approximately 10 hours towards Soti Khola. Our drive is over the zigzag hilly roads of Prithvi Highway until we reach Malekhu. From there we leave the main highway and continue our drive that goes along the gravel road passing through the market town of Arughat to reach Soti Khola.
After a long day’s drive, we will arrive at Soti Khola for an overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Today we start our trekking adventure by crossing a long suspension bridge and then climbing over a big rock before eventually descending back down to the banks of the Buri Gandaki River. We trek up again on a steep rocky trail clinging to the side of a cliff, then up and around to the Gurung village of Labishe at 880 meters and beyond to the river.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Following the course of the Buri Gandaki, we climb and descend through many ridges. Eventually, the river valley widens allowing us to follow a good trail towards Jagat. Jagat is a common village name in the high mountains meaning 'Custom Post' and is the traditional tax collection point for trade to and from Tibet. We will spend the overnight in Jagat.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
The trail heads towards Setibas where we can see several mani walls indicating that we are entering Tibetan influenced region. The trail continues up to the stone houses of Ghatta Khola as we approach Philim. Our trail enters a steep uninhabited gorge, descending through the grassy slopes and crossing the Buri Gandaki. The route becomes a pleasant walk through bamboo forests to the tiny village of Deng. This region is known as Kutang and is inhabited primarily by Gurungs who practice Buddhism.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
We follow the up and down trail towards Ghap - a village of five or six stone houses famous for its mani wall with distinctive carvings of Buddha. The route ascends making a long climb through bamboo and rhododendron filled forests to Namrung for our overnight stay. Namrung is a village with lovely stone houses and a police check post that controls access to the upper part of the valley.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
From Namrung we trek towards the Nupri Region which is inhabited by descendants of Tibetan immigrants. After passing through the villages of Barcham, Li and Sho - the trail finally emerges onto a plateau at Shya. From here we will get to enjoy one of the most spectacular view sites in the Himalayas with wide vistas of Himal Chuli and Manaslu. We will spend the overnight in Shya.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Today is a rather short trekking day. After a relaxed breakfast we leave Shya and follow the trail that crosses a ridge. After that we enter and then exit a side canyon. From there we climb across the rocky slopes to emerge onto a ridge overlooking the extensive pastures and fields of Samagaon. Samagaon is a busy village with a gompa which is worth paying a visit.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
We take a day-off to acclimatize, relax and explore the areas around Samagaon. Walking up to the monastery, roaming around the busy village with warm and friendly locals or visiting the local school can be a good idea to spend a day here at Samagaon.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
After spending a full day at Samagaon, we leave Samagaon and follow the trail that runs north to Buri Gandaki. The route heads through the summer herding area of Khormo Kharka, from where we can have a magnificent view of Manaslu from the mani wall. We continue our trek by climbing up for an hour before dropping again to a bridge over the river. After a short ascent, the trail reaches Samdo - a Tibetan refugee settlement of about 40 homes.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
It is necessary for us to take another acclimatization day rest before heading higher up to 4500 meters the next day and for the crossing of Larke La Pass at 5135 meters the day after. While at Samdo, we should consider climbing up the slopes to the north for some great view of the entire Manaslu range.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
From Samdo the trail descends to the bridge and across the Gyala Kholo. From there we begin to climb the trail to a large pile of mani stones just above Larkya Bazaar. Heading further upwards with magnificent views of Larkya Peak and the north face of Manaslu, we reach Larkya Pedhi where there is a large emergency shelter with recently built teahouses.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
We start the trek before sunrise and climb up a ridge, eventually ending up on top of the moraine at 4690 meters. From there the trail climbs more steeply to the top of Larkya La Pass at 5135 meters. From the top of the pass we can get amazing views of Annapurna II, Menjung, Gyagi Kang, Kang Guru, Himlung and Cheo Himals. From the top of the pass, we descend steeply passing through the glaciers. An easy gradient finally indicates that we are at Bimtang.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
From Bimtang we descend down through pine and rhododendron forests to Hompuk. From there we continue to descend down to a fork of Dudh Khola. From there our trail can be a little difficult to follow as we head across some large landslides to reach the scattered settlement of Kharche. It is now a downhill slope to the large gurung village of Tilije. We cross a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River to reach Dharapani for our overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
After breakfast, we leave Dharapani and follow the trail that climbs up and away from the Marsyangdi River. Our trek continues through a broad and flat valley towards the village of Tal. The village is situated at the foot of a large waterfall. From there our trail continues to Chamje crossing the river once again. Then we descend through the forests filled with rhododendron and pine trees to arrive at Syange.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Having completed our trek, we prepare ourselves for a drive from Syange back to Kathmandu. At, first the drive may not seem pleasant because of the bumpy roads but once we are on the highway - the zigzag road offers beautiful riverside scenery on our way back to Kathmandu.
Meals: Breakfast
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. The world heritage sites inside Kathmandu, if not visited on the second day of the trip can be visited on this day. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will celebrate the completion of Manaslu Circuit Trek and have a final meal together in the evening.
Meals: Breakfast, Farewell Dinner
Our representative will drop you at the International Airport as per your flight schedule.

The Manaslu circuit trek is just wonderful. Beautiful views, great guide and porter and comfortable stays in welcoming lodges and tea houses.
Had the trip of a lifetime doing the Manaslu Circuit and an attempted climb of Larkya Peak with Sonam as my guide. We ultimately cancelled the climb due to the very high avalanche risk (there even ended up being one the day we were supposed to push up to high camp), but the circuit plus camping up at Larkya Pass to wake up to the sunrise views up there was magnificent in and of itself. Sonam was extremely knowledgeable about the area, where to stay in each town, and even had a good relationship with the locals to hook us up with some unique food options at times. Prakash was very easy to coordinate the trip with, and when the late season monsoon trapped us for a few days in Dharapani due to unsafe road conditions, he was extremely quick to coordinate a helicopter evac. We ultimately ended up being able to walk out, but having someone like that able to support you when conditions deteriorated was very reassuring. I will definitely do another trek/climb with this company the next time I come to Nepal. Thank you again for such a great experience!
Great adventure of a lifetime! Manaslu area is really one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to (even better that EBC I would say). In the end I was only climber to try to climb Larkya Peak (6249m), but I had to return at 5700m because of much snow, cold feet, little bit late and yes, tired too. I recommand to plan two highcamp-nights, so guides have enough time to prepare fixed ropes. And to start early (2am maybe). Summit day quite demanding, especially to get back to Bimthang on the same day. Namaste, Markus
Everything perfect, there was no problem during the whole tripWe were all on the summit
