Itinerary

For a Himalayan adventure with a twist, the Langtang Trek with chopper return invites you to experience Nepal’s mountain magic in just five days. Trek through alpine meadows, wildflower-filled forests, and Tamang villages rich in Tibetan culture, all set within the pristine Langtang National Park—famed as the ‘valley of glaciers’ and home to rare species like the Red Panda.

The journey culminates at Kyanjin Gompa, where you’ll gain insight into centuries-old Buddhist traditions. The trip’s crowning moment is a scenic helicopter flight back to Kathmandu, offering breathtaking aerial views of the snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys. This unique return sets this trekking tour apart, promising both adventure on foot and unforgettable vistas from above.

day 1 - Drive to Syabrubensi

Enjoy a 7-to 8-hour bus ride to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. As you follow the path of the Trishuli River, you will come across picturesque foothills, jagged ridges and Ganesh Himal looming on the horizon.

day 2 - Trek to Lama Hotel (Changdam)

You will leave Syabrubesi behind and cross the Bhote Koshi River on a suspension bridge that is located to the north of the river’s meeting point with the Langtang River. On this part of the trek, you will encounter dense forests of pines, alders, maples, oaks and bamboo. The faunas that might cross your path include yellow-throated martens, langur monkeys, wild boars and Himalayan black bears, among others.

Then get ready for an uphill trek. Cross a couple of suspension bridges in this leg, the most notable of which is the steel suspension bridge above the Langrang River. Watch the glacier-fed river as it roars below you while hills and mountains surround you from all sides.

Then move along the northern shore of the Langtang River while enjoying an arresting view of its cascading waterfalls. The day ends at Lama Hotel (2410 meters above sea level) in Changdam.

day 3 - Trek to Langtang Village

Today we trek from Lama Hotel to reach Langtang Village (3330 m), taking about five and half hours. After walking for about 3 hours, we reach Ghora Tabela, a small settlement with a trekker's lodge.

Then, we will pass through Tamang settlements where we can see prayer wheels and Tibetan- style prayer flags. Be prepared to be enchanted by the eye-catching views of the Langtang range en-route. FInally, we will arrive at Langtang Village.

day 4 - Trek to Kyanjin Gompa & Hike to Kyanjin Ri

The trail steadily moves further through green pastures and the beautiful villages of Mundu and Sindum. We come across yet another wooden-beam bridge and arrive at a wide valley after ascending a moraine.

Our journey ends in Kyanjin Gompa, where you see the namesake monastery and a government-run cheese factory. Upon arriving there, you will go on an afternoon hike to Kyanjin Ri (4773m), the highest point of this trek.

Kyanjin Ri’s claim to fame lies not just in being the highest point of our trek. Perched on top of it, you will see mountains up close like never before. To the northwest stands the giant Langtang Lirung (7227m) with the Langtang Lirung Glacier on the foot of it. Look right from Langtang Lirung and your eyes meet Changbu (6251m) and Yubra (6264m). Turn northeast and there you see Tserko Peak (5749m) with Yalla Peak (5500m) just below it. To your southwest lies the diminutive Tsergo Ri (4984m).

day 5 - Chopper return to Kathmandu

Now that you have seen mountains up close, it’s time to experience them in a completely new way. Board a helicopter to Kathmandu and enjoy from its seat the view of Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. A fantastic 30-minute ride with several stunning aerial vistas of snow-capped mountains awaits you.
