Overall a good tour. The one downside was the hotel in Tolo. This was subpar based on our prior experience traveling with Collette three times. Very small shower (2.5' X 3'), little to no room amenities, no coffee, etc. until breakfast started (8AM). The location was sufficient, however, it would make more sense to stay in Napflio versus driving from Tolo to Napflio (and the Mycean ruins) for the day. Napflio is a much nicer and walkable city.
The Greece main land tour was very well planned and the two islands Mykonos and Santorini was a wonderful ending to our tour of Greece.
This trip was great.
Everything was good, but after seeing 3 different archeological ruins, it might have been nice to see something else
The King Minos Hotel in Tolo. The view was fantastic. The tour of the Archaeological Site of Mycenae was at the same time. It is really hard to pick one thing. They were all fantastic.
This tour is a 2-1/2 week sampling of Greece starting and ending in Athens. I loved having time to explore it on my own then see all the highlights with an amazing guide. However, I did not enjoy the meat heavy meals on the walking food tour. Don’t expect to get an additional day in Athens at the end unless you want to pay for taxi/Uber/other. Athens was followed by visits to other interesting sites connected by 3 hour bus rides (Meteora, Napflio, Olympia) and 2 hour ferry rides (Mykonos, Santorini; unfortunately we missed Delos due to rough water). Meteora is among the most amazing places I’ve visited in the past decade. It’s amazing how these monasteries were constructed and continue to be inhabited. As much as I was awed by the immersion in Greek history via the Acropolis, Delphi, Olympia, Mycenae, et cetera, I found the interaction with its people (and cats) through my meanderings and trip experiences (learning about olive oil, honey production; family restaurant in Meteora; cooking class in Olympia…) made this trip most memorable.
Of course, the historical sites are phenomenal But the surprise trip to the honey farm was delightful. The mountainous terrains were surprising to us but our driver was excellent. Nico, our guide an tour manager was very knowledgeable and provided us with a first rate experience. We were fortunate to be with him. Greece is beautiful!!!!
We were so pleased with everything! Our tour leader, Evi, was absolutely amazing. She took care of all the details and any extras we requested. The archeological sites were our favorites, but the family style meals and getting to know our fellow travelers made the trip even better.
The food
My Most. Memorable experience was going to the coliseum in Olympia where the first Olympics took place,
I think having George as our tour guide make everything memorable. He is so passionate about his country, its history, its art and food. He made us see Greece through his eyes and as a result, the entire tour was incredible.
Excellent tour manager. Excellent Santorini. Great hotels
We had such a great time. The tour manager was absolutely the best. He made sure everyone had a great experience. I think the best part was the wide variety of activities we did. We got to really see all aspects of Greece. We saw all the important archeological sites, went to an olive oil farm, toured an ouzo factory, saw ancient monasteries, and spent time on the beautiful islands. Truly a trip of a lifetime!
Beautiful, an incredible learning experience, great meeting new friends, fun to try new food, and comfortable transportation and accommodations. None of this could have been as special without our gracious, patient and friendly guide Theodora Finidou. She is wonderful! Perfect for the job!
Very enjoyable tour, nice tour size, great accommodations - very experienced, knowledgeable and informative tour guide. Friendly and professional bus drivers. Absolutely no glitches in transportation scheduling. Adequate free time to explore the islands.
Best vacation ever! Tour guide was professional and knowledgeable and the places we toured were steeped in history! The optional tours were incredible - we learned so much about Greece! The islands were gorgeous and we had plenty of time to explore. We would highly recommend this trip!
Very educational and vigorous I appreciate it seeing so much of the country, seeing the ruins, learning the history, and visiting small local institutions, such as the olive oil farm, honey farm, Ouzo distillery, icon painter, and the beautiful churches.
This was a trip of a lifetime! Every turn on this trip was like a page in my old geography/history books. The food was exceptional throughout the trip. Our tour guide, Savvos, was the best! It is evident he loves his job. However, the activity level of this trip needs to be rated higher, in my opinion. I understand that the nature of the islands means more walking and climbing because of where most attractions were located, but I believe the activity level should be 4 or 5 as a result. I will scrutinize all trips in the future.
