Overall a good tour. The one downside was the hotel in Tolo. This was subpar based on our prior experience traveling with Collette three times. Very small shower (2.5' X 3'), little to no room amenities, no coffee, etc. until breakfast started (8AM). The location was sufficient, however, it would make more sense to stay in Napflio versus driving from Tolo to Napflio (and the Mycean ruins) for the day. Napflio is a much nicer and walkable city.
The Greece main land tour was very well planned and the two islands Mykonos and Santorini was a wonderful ending to our tour of Greece.
This trip was great.
Everything was good, but after seeing 3 different archeological ruins, it might have been nice to see something else
The King Minos Hotel in Tolo. The view was fantastic. The tour of the Archaeological Site of Mycenae was at the same time. It is really hard to pick one thing. They were all fantastic.
This tour is a 2-1/2 week sampling of Greece starting and ending in Athens. I loved having time to explore it on my own then see all the highlights with an amazing guide. However, I did not enjoy the meat heavy meals on the walking food tour. Don’t expect to get an additional day in Athens at the end unless you want to pay for taxi/Uber/other. Athens was followed by visits to other interesting sites connected by 3 hour bus rides (Meteora, Napflio, Olympia) and 2 hour ferry rides (Mykonos, Santorini; unfortunately we missed Delos due to rough water). Meteora is among the most amazing places I’ve visited in the past decade. It’s amazing how these monasteries were constructed and continue to be inhabited. As much as I was awed by the immersion in Greek history via the Acropolis, Delphi, Olympia, Mycenae, et cetera, I found the interaction with its people (and cats) through my meanderings and trip experiences (learning about olive oil, honey production; family restaurant in Meteora; cooking class in Olympia…) made this trip most memorable.
