One of the most demanding treks in the Himalayas, the Everest circuit trek is not for the faint hearted. A daunting journey through areas over 5,000 metres above sea level, this 15-day, guided trek also offers sublime views of the Himalayas as well as glaciers and glacial lakes.
Start this journey with a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Trek through Phakding and Namche Bazaar to reach the magnificent Gokyo. See the mountain lakes that this area is famous for before continuing your journey. Cross the Cho La Pass to reach Everest Base Camp. Enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas including Mount Everest from Kala Patthar, often referred to as the highest viewpoint in the world, before heading down to Lukla via Periche and Namche.
The most suitable time to do this trek is from the beginning of March to the end of May and from early September to late December. For more details, please go through the itinerary below.
We will drive you to the airport early in the morning for your flight to Lukla. If the weather is clear, you will enjoy great views of the Himalayas during the flight. Your trek starts right after you have landed in Lukla. Your final destination of the day is Phakding, where you will reach after following the trail along the left bank of the Dudh Kosi River. It takes around two hours to reach Phakding village.
Follow the trail that goes to the Dudh Kosi Valley in the north. Cross two small suspension bridges and reach Monjo, the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. From here, you will ascend to Jorsalle, passing through beautiful waterfalls, small villages, and dense forests of rhododendron, fir and magnolia trees. Call it a day after reaching Namche Bazaar, where we will stay tonight in a lodge. The total duration of the trek today is six hours.
Today is your acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, the biggest village in this entire region. You are free to explore the surrounding areas on your own if you want to. You can go for a short excursion to Everest View Hotel or just wander around the market.
Take the mail trail to Thyangboche and continue to Mon La. See Tyangboche Monastery in the distance. Take a steep descent through a forest to the Dudh Kosi River after which you reach Phorste Thanga. Stay overnight in a camp. The total time you spend walking today is five hours.
